U-Haul Gold Standard among 2017 Healthy Arizona Worksites

TEMPE, Ariz. (June 15, 2017) — U-Haul continues to boost its credentials as a leading healthy employer in Arizona and the U.S.

Adding another award to its growing reserve for promoting Team Member wellness and fitness, U-Haul was named a Healthy Arizona Worksites Program gold-standard recipient on Thursday at the American Heart Association’s Halle Heart Children’s Museum in Tempe.

U-Haul received HAWP gold status for the first time last year.

“The fact U-Haul has been honored for a second consecutive year shows the commitment to a healthy workplace and happy, healthy Team Members is real and here to stay,” U-Haul wellness marketing specialist Monique Wantland said. “We are honored to be a Healthy Arizona Worksites gold recipient again in 2017. With enhancements and new opportunities offered through the Healthier U program, we are confident U-Haul will continue to improve the lives of current Team Members and attract new candidates who seek an employer that prioritizes health and fitness.”

HAWP recognizes and celebrates employers that have instigated evidence-based health initiatives to improve the wellbeing of their employees, employees’ families and communities.

U-Haul was among 50 Arizona institutions to meet gold eligibility requirements, a number that ballooned from 27 last year as more companies become increasingly health-conscious. Gold recipients not only established new goals and/or implemented programs during the past year, but demonstrated their ability to track and document outcomes as well as behavioral change.

U-Haul, the industry leader in DIY moving and self-storage, has taken bold steps to illuminate Team Member health and grow its wellness platform throughout North America. Improve your health and happiness through the Healthier U program by checking out U-Haul career opportunities near you at jobs.uhaul.com.

Healthier U addresses four primary topics – exercise, nutrition, mindset and health – and focuses on educating Team Members and providing them with the tools needed to succeed.

Since employees spend nearly half of their waking hours at work, the workplace represents an important setting for promoting healthy behaviors, HAWP stated in its press release. The release noted that efficient, effective and sustainable worksite wellness initiatives have been shown to reduce healthcare costs.

HAWP is affiliated with the Phoenix FitPHX program, a healthy-living initiative launched in 2013 by Mayor Greg Stanton, Councilman Daniel Valenzuela and Olympic gold medalist Misty Hyman. For more information, go to healthyazworksites.org.
