U-Haul to Unveil Jamie Jay’s Watercolor Rendition of the SuperGraphic Representing Hawaii at Sunset Skating Rink

SUNBURY, Pa. (June 6, 2013) — U-Haul recently announced Sunbury’s own Jamie Jay as the SuperGrand Prize winner of its first-ever U-Haul SuperGraphics Coloring Contest, and now is excited to announce that Jay will be the guest of honor during an official U-Haul unveiling party for her friends, family and the local communities of Sunbury and Shamokin Dam.

At noon on Saturday, June 15, 2013, U-Haul will officially unveil Jay’s very own watercolor rendition of the U-Haul SuperGraphic representing Hawaii…which will appear on the side of a local U-Haul moving van. The ceremony will be held at Sunset Skating Rink in Shamokin Dam, Pa., and guests will have the opportunity to hear from Jay herself, representatives of U-Haul and local dignitaries.

During the unveiling party, there will be a coloring contest, photo-fun boards and other activities for children to participate in. After the ceremony, there will be free admittance and skate rentals for everyone who attended the ceremony to enjoy at Sunset Skating Rink from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the unveiling party,” Jay enthused. “I chose the Sunset Skating Rink not only because it’s a lot of fun, but because it’s good exercise as well,” she stated. “I encourage everyone to come, even if you don’t know how to skate. Skate rentals will be free and there is a learning rink in addition to the main rink. It’s sure to be a great time for all!”

On May 17, 2013, in honor of Jay’s winning Hawaii SuperGraphic artwork, U-Haul announced “U-Haul Hawaii,” a Facebook and Twitter photo contest, where U-Haul encouraged everyone to participate in a fun online photo contest by taking photographs of anything relating to Hawaii, from a U-Haul truck with the Hawaii SuperGraphic to photos of a Hawaiian vacation. Submissions are accepted through June 14, 2013. During the unveiling party, Jay will select the winner of the “U-Haul Hawaii” Facebook and Twitter contest, and will select the “Artist’s Pick” from the afternoon’s coloring contest. Jay will make the official announcement that afternoon at 12:45 pm. 

“I’m excited to have the chance to select the winners of the ‘U-Haul Hawaii’ Facebook and Twitter contest and the ‘Artist’s Pick’ from the afternoon’s coloring contest,” Jay stated. “It will be an honor!”

 U-Haul SuperGraphics Coloring Contest in Review:

The Contest: U-Haul launched the year-long SuperGraphic Coloring Contest in April 2012. With more than 400 total SuperGraphic Coloring Contest entries, 29 of the monthly winners were entered in the SuperGrand Prize contest. Jay’s watercolor rendition of the Hawaii U-Haul SuperGraphic first was chosen as the March winner from the 13+ category, and then went on to join the 28 other finalist’s artwork that also were entered to win the SuperGrand Prize. More than 10,000 votes were cast to select the SuperGrand Prize winner, with Jay’s artwork receiving 3,171 of those total votes.    

How it worked: On the first of every month, U-Haul selected a different SuperGraphic coloring page for participants to color and enter on uhaul.com/supergraphics. To collect votes, participants had to share their entry with friends and family. Every month, the most popular U-Haul SuperGraphic coloring entries from each age group won prizes. The monthly winners then sent their original coloring pages in to U-Haul headquarters and were entered to win the SuperGrand Prize, which is having the winner’s colored U-Haul SuperGraphic on the side of a U-Haul moving van that will be located in or close to the winner’s hometown, along with an official U-Haul unveiling party for friends and family to attend!
