New Beaumont business Millennium Self Storage adds U-Haul

BEAUMONT, TEXAS (Jan. 6, 2015) – Prior to purchasing the property that houses Millennium Self Storage, owners Mark Lowery and Jason Alexander sat on the side of the highway and counted passing cars to determine the volume of potential clients.

The number was high enough to establish a base of regular customers, but the tandem wanted to ensure a strong traffic flow by dangling some additional bait on the line: U-Haul® trucks, trailers and boxes.

“Most of our business comes from U-Haul,” Millennium Self Storage staff member Samantha Peterson said. “Not a day passes when people don’t come in here for U-Haul.”

Millennium Self Storage, four months removed its September opening, is located a stone’s throw from Interstate 10 at 1501 N. 7th St., Beaumont, Texas 77703. Operating hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

The store’s location was previously a vacant lot and an eyesore. Lowery and Alexander, who have real estate backgrounds, saw the lot as an investment opportunity and repurposed it.

Most of the surrounding area is open field, except for a local Salvation Army.

“(Millennium Self Storage) does as much charity work as we can get our hands on,” store/area manager Justin Pieper said. “We have donated units to All Saints Episcopal School as well as donating left-behind things to the Salvation Army.”

Millennium Self Storage interacts with the local Chamber of Commerce to stay of abreast of charitable events it can assist.
