Jerseyville Garage Expands Family Shop with U-Haul Rentals
ALBERTON, ONTARIO (April 8, 2015) – Jerseyville Garage Inc. co-owner Jeff DeBruin has two explanations for more vehicles pulling on to his property.
Highway 403 has turned Wilson Street West (Highway 2), home to Jerseyville Garage, into a secondary road – and that has actually boosted business because customers don’t have to deal with as much heavy or dangerous traffic to reach the shop, DeBruin said.
The other reason is simple: U-Haul.

Jerseyville Garage is a family business that DeBruin’s father opened in 1976. DeBruin would help his father in the shop as a teenager. When his own sons get a little older, DeBruin hopes to receive the same help.
“I would always push the broom around this place and watch my dad do his thing,” DeBruin said. “One of my sons is always tinkering with Lego® (toys), so I think he’s going to be good with his hands.”
Since Jerseyville Garage consumes so much of DeBruin’s life, he is always looking for chances to spend time with his family. The DeBruins often frequent the local conservation areas as well as rural areas down the street.
While DeBruin has seen customers come and go through the years, the small-town shop is still known and trusted by many in Alberton.
“We have a lot of repeat business,” he said. “A lot of our customers are even generational.”
