Facility manager Diana Caldwell said the change in ownership has not affected business because American Patriot Self Storage still puts its customers first.
“James is keeping us small and private – that gives a little more personal customer services and more time to spend with them,” Caldwell said.
Caldwell said that being a U-Haul dealer has proven a great way to attract new business and help locals with their moving and transport needs.
“It brings me customers and it’s a great advertisement,” she noted.
Caldwell added that before American Patriot Self Storage took over the property, the facility was a warehouse built in 1890 that had been refurbished. American Patriot Self Storage has 400 units on 2.5 acres close to Virginia Beach and Elizabeth River.
Not only does Virginia have plenty of water access, but it boasts 27 military bases. Caldwell said that the military community is one of the biggest customer bases for the business. The constant turnover of people in the area – many of them being relocated to new military bases – creates a high demand for U-Haul moving supplies and storage facilities.
