While I was familiar with driving a large truck in hilly terrain, not everyone is. It would be useful, depending on the route to provide some instruction on that type of driving specifically when to disable overdrive and use a lower gear.

Initially when we made this reservation we were told we had a 10' truck, which is what we requested. Someone took my card # and told me I had the truck reserved and someone would call me later that day to confirm my pick up time. Later that day we were called and told that they did not have truck available for the days we wanted. We had to settle for a cargo van, then we never received and confirmation regarding that reservation. We tried to call the morning of our reservation to confirm and no one answered. (we tried 6 times before finally getting a call back). Once we did talk to someone they were very curt and not polite at all. I have used uhaul many times over the past five years and this is the first negative experience I have had, but this was frustrating enough that I may use a different company next time.

The reservation process was aweful i was told multiple different things by different people and noone seemed to really know what was available. The customer service at pick up and return was TERRIBLE! They were vey rude and condescending. Next time I move I will be paying the higher rates charged by your competitiors because the hassel was NOT worth the little money I saved using this company! Will never rent from Uhaul again and will recommend all my friends and family use a different company too

I requested a truck for 24 hrs and when they called to confirm 1 week later said it was only available from 8-5. It would have been nice to know that right away. I would have went with someone else. Under staffed. Our truck was dirty and had to be cleaned before and after we used it

Warn customers in advance that if they bump the utility dolly bolted on the inside wall and break some little green seal they will get charged for using it even if they didn't because they paid extra to rent a bigger appliance dolly!!

I've rented from the Blaine MN location multiple times over the past few years and EVERY single person that I've encountered (except a young lady named Heather, recently) has appeared to be angry and disgruntled. The most recent (8/27/14) was a young lady named Brianna. After hooking up a trailer to my SUV, we were checking the lights and everything was OK except the left turn signal on the trailer. Brianna insisted on checking the fuses in my SUV and when I questioned her, she became visibly upset and unhooked the trailer telling me that I would have to go to another U-Haul location. I spoke with the manager that was on staff at the time and he resolved the dispute after checking the electrical connections and finding that the light was not even connected, but apparently was not necessary. Noticed one employees treatment of another was inappropriate. My wife is from another country and she witnessed possibly a supervisor speak in a very demeaning manner to employee who was helping us. She asked me if this was normal in the US. Maybe a little human relations training would be in order for managers/supervisors.

We can not get through with a phone call. We ordered a covered trailer, I was told OK. When I came to pick it up, I was told it was not set up as a covered trailer and had to take an uncovered trailer.

I reserved an enclosed trailer over the phone with a rep at this location. An e-mail the next day confirmed a pickup time in the afternoon. I specifically asked (and had confirmed on the phone) an 8:00 am pickup time. When I called back to check on this difference I was told they could not provide an enclosed trailer at 8:00 am. I was able to reserve an open trailer but, of course, my whole trip was in the rain. I'm not sure what went wrong because my original confirmation had the correct trailer listed (no pick-up time was listed). The rep and I were talking about the same trailer, but he confirmed the wrong availability.

This was not the location I chose for pick up when I made my reservation over a month prior. I was advised of the change less than one day prior to pick-up. I was advised that this was now my pick up location, no option, or I could cancel. (Really? Cancel? with a move planned for the next day) It was in an area that I was not familiar with and the main road to the location was closed (which we found out about while en-route). This took much time out of our already stress filled day. The staff was less than helpful, sympathetic, or caring of our situation. The trailer we ended up with smelled of cow manure inside and had to be completely Lysoled and aired out before putting our personal belongings in. In addition, we had just a couple of weeks prior paid almost $500 to have our preferred U-Haul location install a hitch on our car. You would think they might have made a tiny bit of effort for some customer service.

the truck I reserved 4 weeks prior wasn't ready for me and they didn't let me know ahead of time. So I had to drive 25 miles to a different U-Haul location where the only truck available was smaller which also complicated my move in addition to adding to the g.d. miles I had to pay for. a cold COLD day in hell before I use U-Haul again.

First I called one location close to my house to rent a full size vehicle trailer. I then come to find out on the day of pick up that I will be required to travel an extensive distance to pick up the equipment I reserved at another location. I was called multiple times throughout the day asking if I was going to pick up the trailer that day. When I was called the first time I said yes I will be picking it up that day. Later I received another call and stated once again that I would be picking up the trailer that day. The third call I ignored because I was at work and did not need to be bothered again. It would have been nice to know that when I called and booked the appointment that I would have to use a different location and also not being called so many times. When I picked up the trailer I waited in line and then when I came up I told them what I was there for and they began my paperwork. When it was time to hook up the trailer the gentleman that was helping me asked the other gentleman next to him if he wanted take care of it as if he did not want to help me. The other gentleman said no I have better things to do. The gentleman who had been helping me told me to meet him in the back of the building. I pulled my vehicle around and waited for him. After several minutes he arrived. We hooked up the trailer and did a safety light check. No issues were brought up. I pulled back up to finish my paperwork. We finished up my paperwork and I then had to inspect the trailer alone to note any damage prior to me leaving. i brought the paperwork back in and then was given my paperwork to leave and out the door I went. I felt like I was not welcomed by the staff and while speaking with them I noticed the gentleman helping me used a lot of vulgar language. After getting my vehicle loaded and on the road I got a call from my friend who was behind me and said that my driver side brake light on the trailer was failing and thus my turn signal was also failing. I called in right away. i was told that once i reach my destination I could call for a service provider to be dispatched. later that evening after several hours of use the light began to work. I did not call in as i did not feel it was necessary. on my trip home on sunday i found out it was not working again. I then called in again and let them know. I imagine that this is not the first time this trailer has had this issue but i would not be surprised if I am the first one to make it known. I am dissatisfied with the quality of the equipment i was rented and do not feel like my money was well spent. My family and friends have used u-haul numerous times without an issue. I have lost some confidence in this company with the way I was treated and with the quality of the products I have was rented.
