Rental experience was a bit more costly than I had expected. This was my first time renting a truck to move, however I felt that it could have been a little less expensive to move only 45 minutes away.

I had to go all the way to Lawrence to find a common truck. There is something seriously wrong with your business when a city the size of Kansas City has no trucks. I will use some other seller next time.

We could not understand the person we talked to at the truck. Then he left us at the truck and never came back. we had to go inside to get the clear to leave. with our moving help standing by out side.

The lot was very crowded and it was hard to get in and out of because of the poor traffic flow. The help was jumping back and forth between customers trying to remedy this situation and we never did get full attention from the attendant because of this.

make sure all break lights an turn signals are in working order. Also was over charged for mileage . Went 21.6 miles and was charged for 26 miles.

Wait for clerk was at least 30 min. Grossly understaffed. Customers were discussing how mismanaged location was among themselves while store was unattended for several minutes. Staff tried to help older patron standing farther back in line before younger patrons who had waited longer. Offered no receipt for return of truck, only promise of e-mailed receipt. Local office appeared far more competent than national sales staff I talked to via phone when making reservation.

Truck was not available at the location requested. Had to go nearly 20 miles out of my way to obtain truck. Then, the requested moving pads were not available where the truck was. Another 20 miles to get the moving pads.

When I was returning the vehicle I had a very long wait. A new guy was having troubles but noone was properly helping him, just quickly helping & then walking away, the new guy ended up figuring it out on his own but it took about 30 minutes or more for him to sign out 1 truck to 1 customer. Not his fault, not complaining on him just that he didn't get proper help.

The Lawrence location did a fantastic job after an extremely negative experience from U-Haul in Topeka. Whereas the Topeka location was populated by argumentative lot workers and rude management, Lawrence was clean, friendly, and efficient. Night and day.

The transition from what was done on-line to the in-store event is lacking something. Could almost bet my life that I chose something, only to it not being on the order. Also, strange that 2-wheel dollies not available.

Customer service was horrible. The employees were not friendly. One employee hit our truck with a trailer and never apologized. The lady working at the counter never smiled and was rude. I will never rent from U-Haul ever again!

Overall, they were helpful. The woman who checked us out was very rude, though. I put $60 worth of gas in the truck and simply asked if they would credit me. Everyone else was was very helpful.
