The first U-Haul location I called to see about renting a truck told me they would have to review my request and get back with me. After 3 hours I called again and was told the the person I spoke to was with a customer and he would have him return my call. No One EVER did.
I tried another location which was actually closer to me and was told the person who handles U-Haul was off that day and they would have him return my call the next day. I did in fact receive a call and he explained the rental process to me.
The next day I went to the location, showed my drivers license, ATM card and reserved a truck for pickup later in the week.
When I went to pick up the truck there was some sort of mix up preventing me from taking possession. Apparently the vehicle had not been returned to stock so therefore it could not be rented again until it was. Something in the system prevented it from being returned and I had to show my drivers license and ATM card again....numerous times.
After many attempts to rent me the vehicle failed I told the clerk if this does not work he was going to give me the vehicle and we could sort the problem out when I returned it.
On, what I believe was the 4th attempt, he managed to put it through and I was able to drive away with the truck.
I got my daughter moved and the return process went smoothly, no problems at all.
What irritated me was the fact that I first called the largest U-Haul store in this area, was told I would receive a call back which I never got and a follow up call by myself was not returned either. This is a dedicated U-Haul store with multiple truck, trailers and storage facilities. The second location was apparently a contract facility as their main business is oil changes. At this location the two people I dealt with seemed genuinely courteous and I received an apology about the mix up taking possession of the vehicle.
I read reviews on the first location an assumed that their problems there had been taken care of but apparently the problems there still exist and U-Haul should pay a visit to that location and find out for themselves what the problem is and take the necessary steps to correct them I would NOT recommend this location to anyone needing to rent anything from them.
I left the Four or Fur Paws location after waiting 40+ minutes to rent a 5X8 trailer. This location had me out the door with a 4X8 trailer in 10 minutes.
