Rent-A-Wreck. How apropos... The owner of the location (Steve) was extremely rude and hostile. We were told we could return the vehicle to a different location when we booked. When I confirmed that during pickup, the receptionist called Steve over. The first words to me out of his mouth were that it wasn't possible, and if I didn't like it, he would deny me the rental and I could try to get a truck elsewhere. You know it's bad when the receptionist whispers an apology for her manager's behaviour. On top of all that, the pickup and dropoff location were about 10km away from the location we had requested when booking, so we had to pay extra mileage for the privilege of using their vehicle. The truck we got was a beat up disaster. There was damage everywhere, even though the slip showed 'no damage'. When I questioned them on it, I was told "if we marked down all the damage each time we'd get nothing done." Based on the recent interaction with the owner, I decided to take pictures of the vehicle before taking it. I should not have had to do this. It barely started and even light braking felt like a jackhammer. It did steer nicely, however. I spoke with the u-haul location on Wellington road while loading items from our storage locker. They were a stark contrast to the Terminal location. They were helpful and polite. They apologized when I told them about the difficulties at Terminal and how we had wanted to drop the truck off to them - even though it wasn't their fault. They also provided the 1-800 customer service number, which I will likely also be calling. They were a little surprised about the state of the truck we were issued as well, remarking on the age and disrepair when I parked out front of their office. Being treated so poorly on the morning of a large move is completely not what you want when you are already stressed out as is. If I hadn't taken the day off work and arranged help loading and unloading, I would have told the owner where to go and what to do with it. But I suppose I'm the one in the weak position here since I need the rental, so I guess I should just suck it up and take it. Walking away being afraid that you are about to be screwed on "vehicle damage" or "mileage use" or whatever other charge they can tack on isn't a good feeling. All of our interactions with the Wellington road location have been fantastic, but this encounter with Terminal ave has really soured my opinion. I can't in good conscience recommend anyone have dealings with them. U-haul might be great, but stay far, far away from this dealership.

Having enough trucks to meet customer needs would have improved my experience. I was told several trucks had to come from Vancouver just to fill orders. However, I asked for a 14ft truck and was stuck with a 26ft truck that stunk like dog, had over 200,000kms on it and it frove like a shit tank. I understand I was told about the possibility of having a different truck. However, 12 extra ft and a not so great experience would deter me from giving you my business again.

The office is in an awkward spot on a busy road. The truck was in a different lot a few blocks away. I reserved at a different location, and had to waste extra time picking up the truck.

The main guy that rents out trucks there is unfriendly. The truck was great, the rental period was great. My only complaint was the service there. The guy was unfriendly, and a bit rude to deal with.

The trailer we used was fine but the ball in the hitch is quite worn and was a very sloppy fit. Everytime we went over a bump it felt the like the trailer was going to dislodge. I would suggest maybe putting a new one on.
