The truck I got was so old and abused that it got less than 5 mpg (4.76 mpg to be exact) on the highway. It cost me $135.00 in gas to travel 241 miles. The truck was empty of half of those miles. I had requested the truck for pick up at 11:00 am, then called to change that until 9:00 am, still dropping it off at 11:00am the following day. I picked it up at 9:45 am and asked about returning it at noon the next day. I was told that I must have it returned before 11:00 (it was already rented, so I would incur a huge fee for being late) and that if I returned it after 9:00am, I would be charged for a second day, doubling all charges (except mileage). I modified my plans to make certain I did not pay one extra nickel to this rental location. I had also reserved packing blankets (they come in plastic bags), that I returned unopened and unused, but was charged $20 for the privilege of driving those around as well. I was told, "If the blankets leave here with you, you gotta pay for them, whether you use 'em or not." I've rented through U-Haul before, but this experience will be my last.

Good rental truck. Good guy handling the paperwork, efficient, clear and courteous. Truck worked well. Receipt was available the next morning with no surprises. They'll get my business again if I need a truck.

The interior of the vehicle I rented reeked of marijuana plants when I picked it. While I was driving and it was beginning to get dusk, the windshield had a white film dripping down it (which the truck bed was also covered with) and it was dangerous driving because it inhibited my vision while I was driving through the mountains. It was something that, although I tried, I wasn't able to get off with cleaner. Considering the truck was new and only had 2,000 miles on it, it was pretty beat up, didn't run well in the mountains and did not do well over a large mountain pass (Berthoud), therefore I was unable to use it for its intended purposed of hauling a large, but within the GMC weight parameters, load as I anticipated I was using the truck for. Also, I made sure to question the employee I rented the vehicle from at least three times before taking it, about cost per mile, to ensure that the first 100 miles would be .59 per mile, but then the additional mileage (anticipated 150 more miles) would be .29, just as I had paid on a similar truck I rented the week prior, or I would not be renting the vehicle. When the employee went to issue a receipt up upon return of the vehicle, it said .59 per mile for all miles, and we then again discussed the .29 for the mileage above 100. It was taking the employee too long working on the receipt and I had to go to work, so I said email the receipt. When I received my receipt by email, I was charged .59 per mile for all the miles, which is most annoying considering the employee knew full well that I would not have rented the vehicle without the price break on the mileage (considering your ad states a break for extended miles, two other Uhaul locations within the area quoted me the same – “ first 100 miles .59 per mile; after 100 miles it would be .29 per mile”, and I had just paid the .29 per mile the week prior at another location). I called after I received my receipt and spoke to the owner about overcharging me, he nonchalantly indicated he was busy with someone else at the moment, didn’t seem concerned in the least about the overcharge and then no one ever bothered to call me back. Then today when I called and spoke with the owner again, he indicated that Uhaul said the .59 per mile for 245 miles was the best rate they could give me, and he refused to change the rate. The owner at this rental location was a total ass! The original employee I worked with was nice, but I'll never rent or refer anyone to this location or this owner/loser again. It's obvious this guy is just trying to make more money off people by feeding them a line of b.s. about the mileage cost. If you would like to discuss any of this unprofessional-ism, give me a call. We had BIG problems with Uhaul the company. Since when is a reservation not a guarantee?

JUDITH I. on 7/18/2015
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

the online reservation had some flaw that ordered $65 of packing materials sent to me that I didn't want or need. However it was quickly remedied with an email and I caught the FedX truck in time to refuse the delivery, so all ended well. Staff at Roth's Auto were friendly and helpful.

1. Staff member (I believe his name was Joe) was very flippant and rude. Argumentative and not helpful. 2. Inform customer on website of the SIZE of hitch ball needed instead of finding out when they arrive to pick up the trailer.

The operation of the truck was horrible. loose linkage in the drive train, and "Death Wobble" in the rear axle, constantly shifted hard and felt like I was going to loose the rear end. my suggestion would be to do routine main. to have a smoother running vehicle, even in light of it being a "Local" rental.

2 out of 4 tires were flat when picked up. All 4 dry rotted, weather cracked, cupped or some other form of damage/wear. Stopped every two hours to put air in the tires. Had the trailer for a total of 78 hours and was billed for five days? ! What an absolute joke, will never rent from Uhaul again.

I was charged for a 3 day rental. I thought it should have been for 2 days. I picked the truck up on Sunday, May 17 at 2:38 p.m. and returned on Tuesday May 19 at 9:44 am. I called in on the Morning of May 18 and requested an additional day - I was told I had to have the truck back by 10:am on May 19. I don't understand how that would equate to 3 days.
