I rented an orange dolly and it wasn't placed in the van we also rented. So we got back to my apartment to move and discovered we didn't have it. We made due without it but it would have been helpful if the employee had either already placed the dolly in the van for us or doubled checked that we had everything.

The people working need to know how to accept a trailer from another location. The gentlemen that were working on Saturday had to contact the regional headquarters to close out our transaction. Additionally, the double cost of a one-way rental does not make me want to return to U-Haul in a future emergency. I will find a more cost effective alternative next time. I am very disappointed with the corporate mentality of U-Haul. Instead of assist a customer in need, the company gouges its customer. For this reason, I WILL NOT choose U-Haul in the future. A company that monopolizes the market and then bilks its customer is not a company I want to do business with.

The staff was very helpful with prompt service. I rated the location "Above Average" rather than "Excellent" since the parking lot and one driveway were being repaved when I was picking up the rental. The useable driveway was a bit narrow for the large trucks exiting and other customer vehicles entering. This shouldn't be a problem for others; the repaving work appeared to be nearly complete. This location is easy to find, right off a main road.

UHaul customer/reservation call center needs help on how they handle the customers. They change orders on people and do not know their own dealers. Need help with them not the actual centers.

When I called to reserve a 10' van, I thought they said it was a five hour rental. But it was only a four hour rental, but the guy at the front desk told me up front it was only four hours, so we made it work. The staff was very helpful and courteous.

A/C in truck did not work. When I checked it in, they tried to charge me an extra $100. Not sure why--some customers may have paid without questioning.

Employees did not know what they were doing! First they told me that they couldn't find my order. They said it wasn't there or ready for pick up. I gave them my confirmation number and we waited, then 10 minutes later they found my order in the computer. Second they charged me twice for the auto transport. I left with the truck and A.T., we were packing up the truck when they called to inform me that they had double charged me for the A.T.and that I needed to come back down to the store to get my money. I think you should have at least 1 person on staff per shift that knows everything about the business. I guess I was lucky that I was still in Iowa when they called or I would have been out that $300.00. They were the only ones who knew, so I thank them for their honesty! There needs to be some better or more thorough training for employees.

The local service guynamed Zach was exceptional!!! The "traffic" manager who rented away my reserved tailer the day before was extremely unprofessional and should be fired. Zach savedthe day. Knowing that i had been wronged took it upon himself to fix the problem and go to Grinnell to bring me a trailer. He is the type of manager you want.

Commplication with contract. Truck rental was not the same as truck on contract. Delayed return time and cuased concern regarding miles/usage to truch lease that went to credit card. Where did truck go that was assigned to my contract? It's a mystery.

I will NO LONGER be using UHAUL after my frustrating experience and their utter disregard for customer service last week: I reserved a truck 1.5 months in advance. A few days before my move I received an email stating that the truck size I requested (17-foot) might not be available at my chosen time or location and that I may have to change my move time and pickup location. I called the regional office and spent a half hour on hold before finally reaching a person. I told her I'd be willing to downgrade to a smaller truck (14-foot) if she could guarantee the smaller truck would be available at my chosen time and location. She said there were more of the smaller trucks available and that I'd "not have a problem" getting one where and when I booked it. Based on this information, I had her change my reservation from a 17-foot to a 14-foot truck. I received a text message the afternoon before my move stating I'd have to change my pickup time from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and would have to drive to a different UHAUL location to get a 17-foot truck (remember, I had changed my reservation to a 14-footer). This was not acceptable because friends were coming the following morning to help move. I called the UHAUL customer service (misnomer) office again and this time waited on hold 45 minutes before I spoke with an agent, who promptly placed me on hold again without my consent for another 15 minutes. When an agent finally answered, she informed me that no trucks (17- or 14-foot) were available in my area (a metro area with several UHAUL locations) until the afternoon of my moving day. I told her this was unacceptable and asked her to pin down a truck for me. She finally did, and it was 50 miles away. I also requested a substantial discount for my time and hassle, an extra day and more mileage, all of which she agreed to. When I picked up my truck from the remote location, the computer database at the local office did not show the discount and extra day I negotiated, so I had to nicely but firmly explain the situation. They finally agreed to the discount but not the extra day. The truck itself was new, nice and well-maintained, and the move went smoothly. I dropped off my truck to the location I chose initially and deposited the keys because they were closed. I received a call that evening from a person asking when I planned to return the truck. I told him I had already returned it. As it turns out, UHAUL changed my dropoff location without informing me. No surprise there. I recommend avoiding this company unless you enjoy babysitting, hand-holding and have patience for incompetence and complete disregard for customers. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

I was thoroughly impressed with the staff during my pickup. They took the time to help with hookup, and corrected a hitch wiring issue on my vehicle (at no extra charge) during a busy time. Next time I need a hitch installed, I will go to these guys first! I didn't realize that U-Haul had these services. Thanks Tim!
