Normally this location does a good job, however, this experience was a nightmare. The employee hooked up the trailer while my automatic lights were in the on position and blew a fuse in my car. I had to take the car while towing the trailer to my mechanic. He did an electrical check and determined that the short was occurring when the trailer was connected. I went back to UHaul and they upgraded me to a bigger trailer although it was more than I wanted to tow. Three hours later I was back at home ready to pack but much too exhausted to do so.

I am a woman in my sixties and needed to move some furniture from a house I sold. I called to get quotes days before my intended move and spoke to the assistant manager. Though he addressed me as "Maam" he was definitely irritated that I asked so many questions and suggested that I look the information up on a computer. Unfortunately at the time ours was not working. I then called back a day before I wanted to rent and made arrangements to rent a trailer, but upon reviewing the UHaul website I realized I needed something bigger. I called the store and canceled my reservation immediately and ordered a 10' truck. At that time I asked if there would be any expenses other than the daily rental, mileage and fill-up. I was told I needed to buy insurance for $9. I told the assistant manager I did not want it because my insurance company would cover any accident or damage. He did not insist on the coverage after that, but when my husband went to pick up the truck he was charged $14 for insurance because he was told it was a 'commercial' vehicle and insurance needed to be purchased for us to rent it. The next day I spoke to the manager of the store and he said two things that totally upset me; first he said he had insurance through the same company I have and that renting a truck was NOT covered, but when I told him I could get a letter from my insurance carrier that it was indeed covered he recanted. The second irritating comment he said to me was once a customer chose a service add-on, such as insurance coverage, it was their option and therefore not refundable. I informed him that I made it perfectly clear to his assistant manager the day before that I did NOT want insurance coverage. I'm VERY disappointed that the assistant manager lied to my husband about needing insurance and that I needed to argue to get my money refunded. The only reason I did not rate the location as 'Poor" is because the manager finally did give me a refund. I hope I never have to use them again, I'm sure they feel the same...I would definitely try another location first.

I was happy with the run around they get for location for picking up the trailer when they told m e I could pick it up in Syracuse and when it was time to pick up they change my location I do not like this.

The poughkeepsie store told me that Auburn would be able to rebate the erroneous charge. This was another bold faced lie by that office. The gentlemen at the Auburn office apologized and even contacted that store at which time they lied to him about what they told me. go figure...

I was shorted one (1) shipping pad. Four (4) of the pads, although packed in a plastic bag, were wet and not suitable for use on the high quality furniture that I was hauling. The customer service rep's attitude could use improvement. The truck was new, clean and in good condition.

Whoever the guy was that worked at this location was not customer friendly. At all. My brother-in-law called to rent the truck the day before (gave his cc info) and I picked it up. We were under the impression that we were all set, not realizing that I had to bring a cc with me for payment. We had assumed that when my brother-in-law gave his cc info originally that he was actually paying for it (not just to hold it). So, when I got there to pick it up and the gentleman asked me for a card, I responded by telling him that my brother-in-law called yesterday with the cc info. Well, that was the wrong thing to say. Apparently that was just to hold our truck - not to actually pay for it. And that's fine, I get it. That's not my problem. My problem is when I told him that I would then have to call my brother-in-law and have him give the cc info over the phone.. Well, you would have thought I just kicked his puppy. He seemed irritated and pissed. Like how dare we inconvenience him with such a trivial thing. I was met with "sighs" and eye rolls. He was a complete ass - over something so small. And WE didn't even have a problem with doing what needed to be done. It was just a misunderstanding. It was simply solved by me calling my brother-in-law and having him give his cc info to the guy. But the fact that we had to do this... holy cow. End. of. the. world! He didn't yell or curse or disrespect me but he did make it seem like this was a huge inconvenience. Now, mind you, I was the first customer of the day (8:30am), no one else was there, the phone wasn't ringing off the hook and by all observations nothing "hectic" was going on. There was no reason for his obvious irritation with me and it was very unwelcome. It would not have taken much for him to simply explain why he needed the cc info again and patiently waited while I got my brother-in-law on the phone. Instead, he acted like a 4 year old.

I was extremely upset that I placed Seneca Falls, NY as my place of pick up and my drop-off and was notified 24 hours later that I had to pick up and drop off 16 miles away in Auburn, NY. The general manager was not at all apologetic and it was very frustrating to me when he told me the Seneca Falls location did not have an equipment because they went out of business for a while. This should be listed on the reserving website. I was even more outraged when I found out I had to pay $.99 a mile when I did not see that price anywhere on my reservation and with my added 16 miles to Auburn, that added another $32 to my price! I was expecting to only spend $57, which was my quote on my reservation. No one was helpful to me, the gentlemen were very rude when I dropped the vehicle off. I will not be using these services again.

Made a reservation online two days prior to picking up. When I arrived, the Uhaul Staff asked me all the same questions that I had previously ordered online. This seemed like a repeat of what I reserved online. Received my truck and left location. After driving 15 minutes down the road, Uhaul staff called me to notify me they gave me the wrong truck. I ordered a 20 foot truck. They had given me a 27 foot truck. They asked me to drive back so they could swap it out. They then made me wait while another customer was returning their rental. This was a HUGE inconvenience because it seemed they had no idea what they where doing. I would not recommend renting from this location to anyone I know.

Was told to have the truck back by closing when I reserved it then when I picked it up was told to have it back by 3pm the location closed at 5 also the truck didn't look like it had been cleaned from the last use

Seemed like the gentleman in charge was frustrated, perhaps with his job...kinda felt bad for him. Overheard him speaking with someone about people wanting to quit. I tried to be pleasant with him, he just seemed frustrated.

When a customer reserves a truck for two days and then double checks that they have it for two days when they get the truck they don't like the surprise of finding out that they were only given the truck for one day. Moving is stressful and expensive enough without added things.

Was charged for another day rental for being past the hour we rented it by about an hour. Should have been emphasized the importance at the 1st location instead of just included the fine print. Was told it was corporate policy and beyond employee control to waive the fee.
