I had a great experience with u-haul. Pickup was easy,and drop off was ever easier! I followed the instructions for drop off, locking the dollies inside the cab, and the keys went in the drop box. Easy, I'll use u-haul again!! Thanks. Linda

the U haul website failed to schedule a drop off location for me at the time of rental. I went to the closest location and was turned away due to an overloaded lot. I had to drive to another location to drop off. The website needs more work than the locations.

The brake and signal lights were checked; however, the tail lights did not work. I was not informed of this by the employee when we tested the lights (me in my vehicle and he behind the trailer). This forced me to truncate my traveling to daylight hours. Not pleasant.

I was extremely disappointed with the telephone reservations. I called inquiring about a round trip truck from Austin to San Antonio for which I was quoted $138.00. When I went to pick up the truck I was informed there are no round trips out of town without a dramatic increase in cost. The quote changed to $224.00 + $50.00 in gas. Had I not had a friend willing to drive me back from San Antonio, my trip would have been disastrous.The terms and conditions are the worst for someone who needs to move out of town. To add insult to injury, the clerk gave me an extra day with the truck. His offer, although well intentioned, only highlighted how the booking clerks are not listening. If I was going to drop off a truck in another town, what good was an extra day going to be! No one seemed to be on the same page. I was getting different quotes from different people, and no one asked any critical questions. Almost all assumed I was doing in town travel, and they provided information only if the right question was asked! I will not use your company again.

Your corporate folks shouldn't make it so hard to turn vans in at convenient locations. On my first trip (with a 17' van) I had a map printed up to get me to the nearest UHaul location. It's the only map I came into town with because I didn't expect any problems. Your phone support people kept insisting that it would be easier for me to turn the van in at a location that was far away and located on I-35. I had to argue with two different people to make them understand that: 1) The location they wanted to send me to was nowhere near my house; 2) The route that they wanted me to take was vague. I had a map printed up to the most convenient location. I am new to Austin. I just moved here, and and I didn't want to follow unfamiliar landmarks to an unknown destination from someone who A) was clearly using Google maps to direct me and B) plainly couldn't read Google maps because they insisted my house was right on I-35, which it isn't. 3) The claim that someone at the specified location was "waiting for [my] van" was patently bogus, since I was turning in the van 2 days early. Maybe it's true that you just needed more 17' vans at a specific location, but asking me to drive halfway to San Antonio to solve that problem for you is unreasonable. Saying, "We need your van at location X to even out the fleet distribution" would at least have been more honest than suggesting that some poor schmuck was standing at a counter, hoping that my particular UHaul would make its way to him sometime in the next 48 hours. I had so much trouble turning in the 1st UHaul that for my second one, I gave the address of the North Lamar UHaul as my destination address. I thought that way, your system would have to allow me to turn the UHaul in at the most convenient location. But no. Even when I listed 5412 N. Lamar as my destination address, the system still insisted that I choose from various locations on I-35 (which, for the record, is no closer to my house now than it was at the time of the first rental). The Lamar location was 8 minutes from my house, but you wanted to send me on a round trip that would have taken more than an hour (potentially much more, in light of traffic conditions). And you were asking that my wife waste her time and her fuel following me so as to pick me up. This was a ridiculous request on your part. If it's so important for you to have people turn UHauls in at places that are hell and gone from their destinations, you need to implement some kind of fuel forgiveness policy. You should also consider offering rebates to incentivize making the extra round trip (which could easily be more than an hour considering the congestion on I-35 in Austin). All in all: I loved the service I got from my pickup location. I was delighted with the service I received at my dropoff location. I thought the prices for both vans I used were reasonable, and I thought the reservation process was streamlined

Yard was clogged with vehicles/ trailers, access difficult. Yard man complaining and " short " with customers about being overworked. Not a pleasant experience. Could not get a receipt because the printer was "out" of paper. Service sucked.

Very disappointed when I made an online reservation and showed up to find out that they did not have a trailer. I was moving my daughter to college and ended up having to take a smaller trailer that did not fit all of our stuff. Very stressful. What is the point of a reservation if they don't have a trailer when you get there. The least that should have been done was to call me ahead of time so that I could have tried to make different arrangements.

This used to be a well run facility. It is now a disaster. I waited in my vehicle for over 20 minutes while one person in the lot fumbled trying to get a trailer hitched to another vehicle. This is my second consecutive awful experience at this facility. After renting from UHaul (and largely this location) for over 20 years; I'm now looking for alternatives.
