The key drop situation was confusing. I knew I needed to submit my gas receipt with it, but there was no envelope to put it all in and nothing to tell me what else I needed to turn in after hours. If I had dropped my receipt into the hole with the keys, it could have gone under a display and been lost as the drop simply fell to the floor inside the store. A small box under the drop and maybe envelopes or something to contain all the pieces, as well as a sign telling what all you need, would go a long way to making the process more customer friendly.

Something went very wrong and just luckily got right. I went first to the Ballard (Leary Way) U-haul and wanted a 17 foot truck. They said they did not carry 17 footers. Okay, then give me a fifteen footer. Fine. . .EXCEPT then they tell me it has to be back by four that afternoon. No thanks I say and she says no problem, everything is cancelled. So I go to 15th Avenue and rent a 17 foot truck no problem. But, the next day, when I saw the narrow, constricted street where I had to drive the thing I decided a 15 footer would be better so I called the 15th Avenue place and was told no problem we will have a 15 footer for you on Sunday morning. When we got to the 15th Ave place Sunday morning they did not have anything reserved for me. Lucky for me Tai said well lets see if there is something at Ballard and he called and said they have a 15 footer for you. Phew! But even then back at Ballard they wanted the truck back by four. After some protest on my part they said, okay, okay just bring it back by this time tomorrow morning. When I asked for a dolly she gave me a little one and when I asked for a real one she gave it to me with undisguised impatience. (Strange because there is a little dolly in the truck which she might have told me about). Then I could not figure out how to operate the padlock. With more obvious impatience and contempt she showed me how to pull down (very hard) on the padlock to make it work. I know how to fix stuff, rebuild engines, repair machines, fix cameras and all sorts of gadgets but I guess she figured I was just another old idiot making her day difficult. Clearly, whoever runs this place must be an impatient, disinterested, semi-slob. (Good or bad) management is ALWAYS reflected all the way down through the ranks of every school, business or government just like in sports, great teams have great coaches (or vice versa). Ballard U-haul is okay, convenient, gets the job done but not with any great satisfaction.

We booked this reservation weeks and weeks ahead. Two days before the move, we discover that we cannot pick up the truck in ANY Bellevue, WA location but instead need to drive through rush hour traffic to downtown Seattle. This is bait and switch - you took the reservation in good faith, wait until e cannot change it easily, then give us whatever location is convenient for you. And we have to pay the extra mileage on our nickel to get the truck back to where we started in Bellevue. Not right!

It's highly frustrating that we reserved a size online that wasn't really available (you should sort that out with your website), but it was handled quickly with a phone call. All human interaction was great, including my husband's visit the day before to ensure we had the correct size of hitch.

i had an issue with the one way rental. I confirmed twice that it was one way but was not told that the location shown on the drop off end was not a feasible drop off location and that i would have to drive an hour farther on to drop it. More clarity there would be important. It should be noted, however that the regional customer service and managerial staff was great in helping me remedy the situation. though it took some time, it got handled without much pain.

I was delighted with a couple of the people. I was offered a discount to drop at a different location, the staff was very helpful. However, I received 2 texts, had 2 phone conversations, and received an email from a lady who totally screwed up the whole situation. She said that they needed the trailer back, she said they wanted it in Ballard, I dropped it in Ballard in the evening and then had to scramble to move it in the morning. I think she was new, but needed more oversight. She totally threw a grenade into my night and evening that made me scramble for absolutely no reason. I should have ignored her and stuck to the plan. The calls, texts and emails made it worse. Everything was going fine until she fixed it.

Polite and pleasant service personnel would be a start! Jennifer acted more like the warden of a prison movie, than a customer service associate for U-Haul. Thankfully a gentleman completed my rental agreement. Now the truck, 14' GMC, was the worst handling vehicle I have ever driven. Play in the steering combined with poor alignment, gave the truck a mind of its own! I submitted my written remarks when I turned in the truck. It was also very dirty. I had to clean the inside windshield to see! There were food containers under the seats. The rear storage area had splashed food stains on the walls, when the sun came out and we loaded the bedroom set, the truck wreaked! What has happened to your company? This was the worst, most unpleasant and unsafe experience. I will never rent from you again! Victor John Liss, Jr.

I rent trucks there all the time. It always seems like the back of the trucks are never swept out. This last time there was a big stain of something sticky in the back of the truck. I cleaned it up myself and the person working didn't apologize for the mess or even seem concerned that there was one. Overall poor customer service but I continue to go back because it is the most convenient location for me.

"Express" Check-In took 30 minutes, due to the computer interface for my reservation showing double the anticipated cost, and the service person helping me not being able to figure out why. The price I paid upon my return of the vehicle was fair and what I anticipated. But getting out the door with the bloody vehicle was a major hastle, and I had a ferry to catch. Why U-Haul could not have manage to make my check-out process take 1/4 the time it took is a complete mystery to me. Oh well. Next time I will shop around more.
