I'm very displeased with U-Haul. I rented a truck for a small next town over move. The price says $29.95. I get a receipt in my email for close to $90. What!..seriously? I've never seen so many hidden fees in my life. "Environmental Fee", "Boston CCF surcharge". I drove one town over and back. It couldn't of been more than 15 miles, and the gas is costing me $28? I even returned it early and didn't need the truck for the full 6 hours. Extremely disappointed with my experience and will not be using U-Haul again nor will i recommend to a friend.

All was great. Pleasant and helpful agents. One small error...date of return of vehicle was mismarked. But it was corrected immediately with no hassle the next day. We were extremely happy with the service.

The main reason I would not recommend it is because of the Boston CCF surcharge. If UHaul would cover at least part of that in a discount, this would be the only place I'd ever go.

I was over charged for gas by $30. When I went to get in my truck it was already being driven away by another customer. At this point a Uhaul employee was running down street chasing truck. Finally person stopped left truck in middle of street. When I got into truck (facing the opposite direction from where I would have went, the gas was not accurate. On the paper I had signed it had meter at 1/4. The actual reading in truck was 1/8. I put $10 of gas in at end of day and actually had it higher then when I picked up. If I could have actually checked the gauge in the parking lot I never would have driven away without saying something. Please reverse gas charge ASAP.

I had ordered blankets online to cover furniture, but when I got to the store, I was told that no facility in the city had anything like that. It would be helpful to block out things that aren't actually available with the online forms so customers have time to make other arrangements. However, the staff was polite, informative, and helpful.

The staff was extremely helpful and the woman who did my paperwork was able to correct the fact that I had set up pick-up for Brighton on the phone but, when I arrived at Brighton, I was told that it had been set up for Brookline.

I was contacted by UHaul less than 12 hours before the truck pick-up and informed that my 14-foot truck might not be available, but that a 10-foot truck would be available the next day. I was assured that if my things would not fit in the 10-foot truck due to the unexpected change, I would not be charged for extra mileage for extra trips. However, when I got to this location, after waiting an hour in line, I was informed that I would NOT be reimbursed for the extra mileage and that such a thing did not exist. Not only was the wait long, but I was given conflicting messages by the company.

1) When you advertise $19.99 per day (+miles), and I only rent for 4 hours I should be charged half of that amount because I am not renting for a full day. 2) When I made the reservation, I was under the impression that I had the vehicle for a full day, and needed it for a full day. Instead, when I got to the location, I was told to have it back withing 4 hours, or I will have to pay the rental fees for the person who reserved the vehicle in that window. There was absolutely no warning that I would only have the vehicle for four hours. 3) My reservation was for 9AM. I got to the store at 8.30AM and wasn't able to pick up the truck until closer to 9.30AM because of the outrageous line and only 2 registers open. Notes: I'm sure you are vehicle turnover time is great and you are minimizing losses in revenue by having vehicles sit in the lot; but you are doing horribly in customer service. As your 10K states, the rental industry is highly competitive; I will surely recommend any friends, relatives, or colleagues, to other companies in the area.

The worst customer service I have ever seen. Also, I was charged $5.00 for pads that weren't even in the truck. Was also charged for gas, even though I returned it at the proper level. See you in court Uhaul.

Apparently we returned our van to the wrong Uhaul return location in Brighton and Uhaul charged us an extra $40 because of it. I had my paper work out and if the attendant had taken 5 seconds to look at it, she could have let us know it wasn't the right place and saved us $40. Probably will not be using Uhaul again.

The only part of my experience that is kind of annoying is the refueling part. You put your trucks at half full so that you can nickel and dime your customers knowing that they would rather be cautious and put more gas rather than have to pay $4.00/gallon plus a service fee. It's not a huge complaint but it is annoying because it would make way more sense to have all of the tanks full that way the customer just has to fill it back to the top.

Coordinate between your online rental and the store. When I arrived I was asked all the same questions that I answered online, such as what size truck, where are you going, where are you dropping off? It was frustrating because the line was slow to begin with, but I was holding the confirmation email with all of this information on it. So it seems like I could have been asked my confirmation number and been all set. Then when it was time to leave, my truck was ready but the furniture pads were not.

Many errors with the charge of my rental. The incorrect miles were recorded and charged. The manager was able to refund the extra charge but the inconvenience and time taken to resolve the issue was disappointing.
