I've had some issues with some of the other uhaul locations but not this one. This is the third time I've used uhaul at central and had no issues. Would use their services again if needed.

One way rental. Called given phone number to see where to drop off. Employee who answered let me get one sentence out before saying "No more, we are closed" and hung up on me. Worst. Service. Ever.

Providing clear instructions on how to start the truck would be great. I had never driven a Uhaul vehicle before and could not figure out how to start the 10 ft truck I had rented based just on the labeling inside of it. (Like many people living in my area, I don't own a car and drive only rarely, so I'm less familiar with unconventional ways to start a vehicle than I might be. I was expecting an automatic shift console in the middle of the front two seats and was confused when there wasn't one.) Thankfully, a staff member stepped in to show me what to do, but more extensive labeling/instructions inside the truck would have been really helpful, as would the staff member who processed my order having asked me if I needed guidance on how to start the truck before I got inside of it.

Moving helper was a problem. Our help in Charlestown was fine and the lead actually went beyond what was necessary to help us find help when the second mover called without notice and cancelled. We eventually were able to get a replacement to respond from Boston. However, by the time they were able to get there I had everything but the heaviest items unloaded. They were polite and helpful. I didn't contest the charge because they responded. However, we should have some credit in the charge to us. What was most offensive is the Moving Help telephone line charged us $9.95 to help us book a replacement. This is just inappropriate. The person on the phone should at least have some discretion and if they do but didn't use it that is a problem. This charge needs to be credited to our card along with the reduction for need to re-book due to the cancellation. Rick Day

I can't get this off my mind and that is why I decided to write this review in hopes that no one will ever be hurt. I have a hitch on my car and went to UHAUL to have a trailer attached. My reservation included purchasing or rental of a hitch ball. I am not a professional with this equipment but had some experience with it when I was younger. Beyond the staff not being inviting, their installation was plain dangerous. He attempted to size the hitch attachment to be placed into my hitch and seemed to select a size that was possibly too large. He proceeded to hammer it in. He then attached the trailer and was ready to finalize paperwork when I asked him whether he was going to put in a pin to hold the hitch attachment to the hitch. He said that "not all of them have that." He then said that the holes may not align and was not able to hammer the holes to align. I proceeded to help him with hammering it in so that the holes align and then I inserted the pin for him. ***For those that have not used a hitch, if the pin is not placed, you may be on the highway or driving away somewhere and the whole trailer could easily fall off*** Nothing would be holding it in place besides friction! After driving away and starting my 1100 mile trip, I noted that the trailer seemed to be jerking back and forth. I stopped at a gas station and saw that the hitch ball nut was not tightened so the whole stem was rocking back and forth. I found someone to help me tighten it. But I just can't believe that I would have been sent out of a UHAUL with a potentially life-threatening installation of a trailer.

I was charged for about 30 miles more than I had gone. I have called and talked with the store I went to, a customer device line, and the reginal location in somerville. I'm still waiting to resolve this, and I will fight it. I have a picture of the miles and gas gauge when I left it. The back of the van was also dirty. Just an over poor experience and looking at reviews of this location prove that these things are commonplace.

Most of the staff was very helpful, but one guy was pretty bad. Picking up the truck took a long time because he had forgotten to "check in" the truck when it had arrived previously, apparently. When returning it I got the same guy, and he was really rude about how I had parked the truck next-door (in a lot that had other UHaul trucks, I might add) instead of pulling it into the return area, which I did because the return area was jammed up with a truck parked blocking the entrance. This guy (last name Harris) needs to treat the customers better. Another guy and woman employees seemed very friendly though!

Yes, the equipment is good and extremely useful. The online scheduling was convenient. No one was rude to me, which I appreciated. But the actual logistics are very poor. These days customer service is not really optional. I was expected to rearrange my schedule completely after UHaul closed early and I was not able to return the keys during their stated business hours. No one was able to help me, and the response I got from customer service representatives was "I'm just a cog in the system, there's nothing I can do." I'm wondering, so what is the point of customer service, then? I was glad I was able to help ameliorate the damage by returning my keys early the next day, but really it is not realistic to expect me to inconvenience myself so greatly. That's an hour and a half of my time during work hours that I lose for acting in exact accordance with our contract; it's just not appropriate. Furthermore, I happened to see the person who was screwed over to do UHauls failure to accept my keys during their business hours. She had been waiting, maybe for over an hour, having done nothing wrong, with no indication whether her reserved vehicle would ever show up, with little assistance from the management other than "wait and see." What a horrible position to be in. The eventual response from the manager was "yeah well you're lucky. It could have been worse. The keys could have just not shown up." To me, that says something about how often this must happen, and the company-wide attitude that it's "business as usual" to have customers so distressed and inconvenienced. I'm disappointed to see so many customers penalized for doing absolutely nothing wrong. The response ("this is normal" and "there's nothing I can do to help you") is disturbing. Those companies that capture consumers only through "resentful bondage" will see them leave at the next disruptive opportunity. I think UHaul will be taking a hit soon. Uber, what's your move?

Best U-Haul experience I've had in years! I've been renting from you for the past 8 years as we move 2 daughters consecutively in and out of dorm rooms/apartments. I got used to waiting hours for trucks, not having the truck I reserved, etc. FINALLY! I U-Haul location that delivers what it promises! In and out with the right equipment AND courtesy in 15 minutes!!! Go Cambridge!
