We have used UHAUL on two separate occasions in the past month and have been extremely dissatisfied BOTH times. It has nothing to do with the specific locations. Rather, the overall customer service and inability to speak with a manager/ administrator when you have a problem.
The first experience: we reserved through the 1-800 central line. We then learned from the local office (Colonie) that our reservation did not exsist and they did not have what we needed. The local manager was "sorry" but could not do anything. The 1-800 rep I contacted could not help and directed me back to the local manager.
The second experience: We picked up in Clifton Park and dropped off in Champlain after hours. Yesterday I receive an email that I owe $9.94 for mile overage. The email states to call a 1-800 number to make a payment. When I call, the woman in tells me she cannot accept my payment and I will have to go to Champlain to pay (2+ hours away). She then tells me she can take my payment in three days when it "goes to collections" and there is an additional $30 added. When I ask to speak to a manager I am told no. She then connects me to the Champlain office without telling me she is transferring me. All in all, I was on the phone for over 30 minutes for a $9.94 bill.
We are in the process of moving. We are trying to move gradualy. We purchased a hitch from UHaul and then rented a trailor and also a 17 ft truck. Both experiences we had problems and there is NO ONE to address your concerns to. Uhaul has lost our business and we will not recommend.
