Reservations were made on June 2 for a 10 foot truck and I was given a 14 foot truck originally the truck pick up was 1 hour and 20 min away from original request. The tow dolly for the truck was 28 miles away causing extra miles and gas. This was NOT the Johnson tires fault but the fault of uhaul tragic. The larger truck costed me extra in gas making this trip more expensive then originally planned. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Burro.

This U-Haul experience was the WORST situation I can think of. First, I made a reservation for a 26' truck over 3 weeks before my actual move date. I requested to pick up the truck @ Reagan's in South Boston, Virginia, just minutes from my house. I even visited Reagan's one week prior to my pick up date and spoke to Rosemary who after looking up my order request on line and talking with traffic ensured me that the truck would be ready for me. Two days before the move I drove by and saw 2 26' trucks in the lot figuring one was reserved for me as South Boston is a very small town and the odds of someone using it were nil. My plan was to load the truck on Thursday, June 27 first thing in the morning so I decided to see Rosemary Wednesday night to ensure I can get the truck when they opened the next morning. When I arrived, Rosemary was there but the trucks were gone. She had rented out one of the trucks locally for she said my reservation did not show up on her screen but it was in the system that I pick up the truck 48 miles away on Thursday (the local she gave away was not due back until Friday which would not fit with my plans for I had movers coming on Thursday). She tried to call traffic without response. She agreed to discount the invoice $63 for the inconvenience of picking up the truck in another town but that hardly covered the fuel cost for the truck and the vehicle that had to transport me there. She insisted that was the best she could do. Since I was out of time and could not load a day later (Friday) I was forced to pick up the truck at Charlotte Courthouse. There, I couldn't pick up the truck until noon because that truck wasn't due back until 11 am. The cost of the loaders waiting until the truck arrived at my house was an unexpected expense. When the attendant entered the contract on the computer it reflected over the $462 cost quoted on my on-line reservation. I told him of the $63 discount promised by Rosemary and he called her to confirm. They connected and apparently even though he had been renting u-hauls for 8 years Rosemary had to train the attendant on how to prepare the paperwork with the discount. The computer reflected a credit of $42 instead of the $63 and they couldn't make the original charge of $462 agree. My only choice was to pay what the computer reflected or not get the truck. Since my schedule didn't allow the latter I was forced to pay the inflated price. Once I had the truck in my possession I incurred no further problems but I still need to be compensated for the incompetence of your organization's systems and traffic inconsistencies. I am willing to settle for half the cost of the total invoice now and be done with it or I am prepared to make my case to higher management if this proposal is not accepted. Please bear in mind that I have all the documentation to prove my dissatisfaction along with signed testimonies of your franchise owners involved. I will wait 2 business days to see if the refund has been

The problem that I had with the location was that there was no electrical connector for the tow dolly. The main problem that I had was with the online reservationist. The declined my request to use a transport so they informed me that I had to use the dolly. The sent my reservation to a location that was sold out of both, then in order to get a dilly, I had to drive 38 miles (one way) to pick it up from a location that was closed. This was by far the worst Uhaul rental experience that I had.
