The inventory of trucks and vans is first-rate, and the owner Theo, and his family, are always very obliging. The only improvement might be to give the cabs of the vehicles a quick wipe-down of the dashboard, the cup holders and the windows.

There was some confusion about the drop off location. When I picked up the truck on Saturday I was told I had it until Tuesday. I received a call en route to Chicago informing me it needed to be returned to Evanston that day. When I called the MAJD location they told me I could leave the truck and dolly there. The next day I received a call from Evanston asking me when I was returning the truck and dolly as they were needed at that location. Please forward another apology to the management in Evanston for the confusion on my behalf.

Answer the phone rather than taking messages and minimize customer waiting outside. I can be expected that customers come a few minutes before rental appointments to complete the transaction prior to the rent time. I am a happy customer; It went well and the cargo van was in great mechanical condition. Thank you

After we got 5'x8' trailer home we realized not all the trailer lights were working, including brake and signal lights. That should have been noticed at walk-around inspection after hookup to car's wiring harness. Got a replacement 5'x8' trailer, luckily, from same location. This time with functional trailer lights, but discovered large, gaping hole in tire at home. We saw hole just after we pulled trailer up to house. Both scenarios were bad. Both trailers should have been better inspected and never have left the lot in those conditions. Am forwarding .jpg of very defective tire to UHaul Customer Service. However, Roadside Assistance (Veronica) was amazing. We were under a time constraint and she had Carrera Repairs out to our house within the hour and he changed the defective tire. We also asked Carrera Repairs to please inspect the other tire, and he did so by jacking up trailer a bit. We were very appreciative of all the help of Roadside Assistance, but are now very leery about overall safety of UHaul rental trailers and trucks. We have rented trailers and trucks in the past, too. But this incident gives us pause.

I feel very strongly that Uhaul should compensate me in some way for this pick up process. I had to pick up this truck and trailer 40 minutes from where I had requested pick up. MORE IMPORTANTLY- upon pick up that morning I was told that her manager had hurt his arm so would not be until "later" so she hoped I had experience attaching the trailer to the truck. She walked me out to the lot, pointed out my truck and trailer and said ,"good luck, if you have trouble just got to the web site and watch the video on how to attach the trailer." It took me 20 minutes just to line up the ball on the trailer as I was alone, jumping in and out of the truck to see how far or left or right I was to the ball on the truck. Once finally on the truck, I pulled my vehicle on and attempted to pull the straps over the front tires to lock it down and the straps were WAY to short. Knowing I had to get going I drove the 40 minutes back to my apartment where my friends and I went and bought $40 worth of straps so I could extend the length to drive the 1200 miles to Colorado Springs. AND last but not least as I was driving back to my apartment the "Change engine oil soon" light came and then about halfway across Iowa the "Change Engine oil" light came on so for the rest of the trip I was unsure if I was going to burn out the truck. I am not looking for a full refund but when I spoke to the Uhaul employees in CO they were shocked that all of that happened. As am I, again I don't expect to receive a full refund, as I did use the equipment and my life's belongings and myself made it safely to CO, but some form of appropriate refund should be received. Sorry for the long explanation but I had an absolute horrendous experience picking this truck and trailer up in Chicago. Please feel free to contact me in regards to this. If I do not hear from anyone at Uhaul I will be pursuing this more.

Maggie was particularly helpful at this location. The customer service representative (Richard) who originally helped me place a uhaul order submitted the incorrect information which put the success of my move in jeopardy. Luckily Maggie was kind and understanding, and was able to help me with the problem and fix the issue with my Uhaul rental. Thank you, Maggie!

On your site you first have the user select the time they need the U-Haul for, then based on that time frame the user is presented with "available" rental trucks. I selected a 24 hour time frame, booked a truck, and got a confirmation email with my scheduled pick-up time. Nowhere on that email did it say that the 24 hour option was NOT available. And it wasn't, I only had it officially booked for 5 hours when I already had hired movers to help unload the truck. I also had booked furniture pads. When I got there the woman told me they didn't have any. This is completely unacceptable and ridiculous. Don't deceive your customers into providing you with business. I will actively be warning everyone I know NOT to use U-Haul in the future.
