On your site you first have the user select the time they need the U-Haul for, then based on that time frame the user is presented with "available" rental trucks. I selected a 24 hour time frame, booked a truck, and got a confirmation email with my scheduled pick-up time. Nowhere on that email did it say that the 24 hour option was NOT available. And it wasn't, I only had it officially booked for 5 hours when I already had hired movers to help unload the truck. I also had booked furniture pads. When I got there the woman told me they didn't have any. This is completely unacceptable and ridiculous. Don't deceive your customers into providing you with business. I will actively be warning everyone I know NOT to use U-Haul in the future.

Uhaul gave conflicting drop off locations. First any drop off in Chicago, then ravens wood then finally the Northwest Av location. Frustrating and confusing. Equipment performed well.

When I called I was told I could book the truck for a maximum of 4 hours because it was the last weekend of the month and in high demand. My reservation was for 2:15. When we got there, we were told we could keep it longer, as long as it was back by 8am, when they opened the next morning. That was nice. Except that I thought it was supposed to just be a flat rate for a full 24 hours.

The guy Theo working there was professional and worked well under pressure. When I arrived he originally told me that I could not have the truck as I requested for 10 hours, but only 5 due to a reservation being thrown on him. I was very frustrated, but I agreed to come back and drop the truck off at 3:00 and take a smaller truck since I had no choice. Turns out he was able to accommodate me and let me keep the truck for the original requested time. So everything worked out in the end. They will try there best to accommodate every customer and that's something as a consumer I can appreciate.

I rented a 14 ft. truck to move my belongings from a public storage on the South side of the city to the North side of the city. So when i get to public storage and open up the back of the truck, it was roaches crawling up the walls. I killed as many as i could and took pictures of them. I immediately called and got the voicemail. I left a message and no one returned my call. So, i loaded up the truck and headed to my storage up North. Once i unlodaed eveeything, i went to the hardware store to get roach bombs ro set in my storage locker. When i returned the truck, i explained to the saleslady what happned. She mentioned how in all the years she never heard this. I mentioned that they shoud have better cleaning methods before re-renting out a truck. I mentioned that i had called and left a message, but the only response was we were so busy today. I then mentioned that i felt that i should be compensated for this and she said to take it up with the manager Theo. She said do not call him today was the he is to busy, he is in a meeting. She told me to call tomorrow after 9:00 am. After checking out, the saleslay checked out the same truck to a customer who was waiting. Even after what i reported, she still rented the truck. Oh yeah, i took pictures of some of them that i was able to kill. I feel violated.

Even though MAJD Moving was not our "preferred pick up site", we received excellent service there and the representative was outstanding in helping us. But, being out of towners in a large city like Chicago, we chose our preferred location based on where our daughter lived. Changing it less than 12 hours before pick up time was a bit unnerving, especially since we had a very tight timeline with movers coming at a predetermined time. I made the reservation 6 weeks in advance--plenty of time to make sure that the equipment I wanted would be in the place I wanted to pick it up.

When I went to pick up the truck, I was notified that there was an issue with the driver’s side door and was advised to enter and exit through the passenger door. This was no problem. Once I drove the vehicle off the lot and was about a mile away, the driver side door flew open while the car was moving and I could not get it to latch shut. This not only put myself at risk but also all the drivers around me. I was on a 45 mph road driving straight--conditions that weren’t extraneous on the vehicle. Being such an imposing vehicle on the road and having doors fly open of their own accord is clearly a liability. This morning I called MAJD to voice my concern over this matter and was met with no direct apology, no consideration for a refund, and the representative had no idea who I could speak to when I asked for someone higher up. She stated that they only received repairs from Uhaul and so could not have done anything to repair the truck. She said that since “nothing bad had happened” and since the card had already been charged, there was no way to compensate back part of my payment. The fact that a door flying open while the car is in motion is considered to be “nothing bad” is frightening to say the least. And the fact that persons representing your company have no understanding of how to relay concerns up the chain of command is terrible customer service. On top of this, I had reserved moving blankets for my move. When I checked in, the lady told me they would be in the truck. When I got home with the truck, there were no blankets to be found. I was not charged for them but this further demonstrates the lacking in communication and customer service. I hope these realities will be taken seriously higher up in the chain of command and this company representing you will be made to understand the weight of their actions or lack thereof. I will be more than happy to take my business elsewhere the next time I move.

No restroom at MAJD Moving and Storage. The employee that checked me in was very nice and friendly, however no one went to the truck with me to explain anything about the operation of the truck, ramp, overhead door and latch etc. I am very disappointed in the way my reservation was handled. I reserved a 17' truck well in advance of the date I needed it. I was to get a call (11 July) from U-Haul the day before to confirm the pick-up location for the rental truck. When I did not hear anything by 1 pm, I called the reservation number and found out there was no 17' truck available for me on Saturday (12 July). What happened to my "Guaranteed Reservation" ?Eventually I was given the option of picking up a 20' truck in Roger's Park 20 miles away. So instead of getting the truck I wanted from a location 10 minuted away, I had to drive to Roger's Park on Friday evening in rush hour traffic and drive 1 hour and 20 minutes to get a truck. Not a very good way to do buisness.

I mainly went to this location because it is in walking distance to my house. It is kind of a dinky location. On the bright side, it did have the van that I needed even though online it said that there wasn't any vans to rent. The van I rented had a service engine light on that I had never seen before. I wish there was a vehicle inspection before I took the van so that I would not be blamed for any dents in the sides and other issues like this. Not saying that I was blamed for these but it would have been some peace of mind. Another thing, I had to bring the van back to this location instead of a U-Haul near the place I was going to. Also, I was told that they were open until 7 pm. But when I got there at 6:30 pm I saw the lady leaving. The office was closed.

The man that gave me the keys to the truck when I picked it up basically just gave me the keys. He told me the truck is in the lot and it matches the number on the key tag. No looking the truck over, explaining how things work or have a nice day. The truck itself was in fairly new condition and not bad to drive, but a little customer service would have been nice. Especially for about $400 for less than 400 miles on a one-way trip and a ten-foot truck.

My complaints weren't so much with the location used, but the company as whole. There seemed to be a huge communication error between uhual dispatchers and the locations were the trucks are stored. My reservation was changed without notice and my truck that I had reserved was essentially not available for my move. I do not understand how people are supposed to rely on uhual to help them with their moves when they do not communicate with the locations or the customer. It was a very frustrating experience. I appreciated the location manager working with me to get my move accomplished. I was very frustrated with "corporate". I do not understand how the company is ran like this.
