The 5 by 8 trailer I rented towed nicely but had a few problems. A tail light was not installed correctly and continue to fall out and hang by the cords. The trailer leaked and some of our stuff got wet. When I reported this to the U Haul employee he told me U Haul does not guarantee that their trailers won't leak. Maybe you don't but you should!

We made reservations a week in advance. The man helping us said the location for pickup would be Kramer Ace Hardware in Clear Lake, IA and we would be able to have the truck all day. Our confirmation paper clearly has pick up as Clear Lake, IA and drop off as Coralville, IA with no documentation that either of these could change. First, the truck was not in Clear Lake, it was in Mason City for an additional 20 mile round trip detour. Additionally, both locations are Kramer Ace Hardware so when they called to confirm the pickup, I assumed it was the Clear Lake location we had previously agreed to. Additionally, we were informed that we wouldn't be able to pickup the truck until noon, when we had been told that we could have the truck for the whole day and we had be very clear that we wanted the truck around 10am. We ended up spending an additional hour getting to the other location and calling customer service, were the GM of the Coralville location, Blake, told me that I was in the wrong and that they had not said any of the information. I can assure you that Blake was not the individual to help us setup our truck and that we received no information that the truck wouldn't be at the location that we ageed to and that it wouldn't be available until noon. Additionally, once Blake agreed to credit us the reservation fee of $50, which is an insulting credit once he had kept me on the phone for over 30 minutes, we were informed that insurance was added to our order without our knowledge and when we got in the truck and it was completely covered in a strong smoke odor. We had no options to switch vehicles and we had arranged our weekend to be able to make this trip so we were unable to cancel the reservation. I informed Blake once I returned to Coralville that the odor was unacceptable and asked if UHaul had an restrictions on smoking in their vehicles. He was unable to answer my question and said they can't control what people do in their vehicles. Personally, I have a high sensitivity to smoke and will have to see my doctor for the buring the odor has left in my lungs. I expect a full refund for the disaster of an experience we received and I expect an email or call confirming that Blake will receive additional training. This service is completely unacceptable and I hope you take my comments to help your company perform at a reasonable level of service in the future.

The "gentleman" that assisted me with my reservation was very rude and demeaning. I was about one nasty look and one more sarcastic comment away from assaulting the individual. I will not do business with this location again or even possibly U-Haul. Thumbs down, 0 star review.

A couple things were not comfortable to me in my rental. Nick told me that I could drive the trailer that said "Max Speed 55" right on it, 65 MPH. Thank God I spoke to a different person when I didn't feel that was good advice. Nick also tried to charge me a second day when I said I'd only be using the trailer for the day and returning it the same day. The other gentleman, I think it was Mike, was very helpful.

Very accommodating and friendly staff - my initial truck was in pretty bad shape, and after driving it several miles and not feeling safe, they happily exchanged for me. On top of that, I realized when I arrived at my apartment that our lot was too small to hold the truck overnight. I was welcomed back to C-ville location to leave with them and grab in the morning. Overall a great customer service experience. Mike and Brian (?) helped me, and Gary was there when I picked up in the AM. Thumbs up to everyone. Thank you!

The customer service person was not very pleasant and when I tried to tell him that there seemed to be an issue with the brakes he was very unresponsive and did not ask anything. He did not seem to care either way.

This was not my first visit to your store. I returned a truck there several years ago and had zero issues. This time, the truck I received was extremely dirty. I don't mind cleaning my own mess, but I do mind cleaning others. When I went to return it in Dubuque, I was told the number on my contract did not match the truck I was driving. I'm assuming there was a mix up and I was given a truck that was not cleaned by mistake. I understand mix ups happen, however, I do not appreciate cleaning other peoples messes. When I returned it in Dubuque, I was told I had initialed that I checked the cleanness of the truck. I was never given that opportunity. By the time I went into the back, loading had already started. I was not going to unpack, take it back, and begin reloading again.

The problem wasn't with the location it was the equipment. The people and physical location are great. I own a moving company so occasionally we have to use rental vehicles. Every time I have used a U-Haul vehicle it does not run well, is old and looks broken. I will no longer be using UHaul for anything.

The employees were very rude and seemed as though we were inconveniencing them when we were trying to rent the equipment and return it. My visit was on 1/31/15. I will definitely look for another Uhaul location to use next time I need to move.

The kid who checked me in didn't know what he was doing. I had never rented with U-Haul before, so I didn't know what to expect. He asked me for estimated mileage and then my credit card. I asked him how much I was paying and he couldn't tell me. I ended up paying for everything up front. When I brought it back another guy told me that I was only supposed to pay a deposit and then actual mileage. I don't know what the correct procedure is, but they all need to be trained better. They definitely didn't have it all together. I was not impressed.
