Absulty the worst experience we have ever had. Not only I will never use uhaul ubox, I will tell anyone that I can reach not to use ubox ever. The saddest survice!!!!!!

I had reservations that were canceled three times prior to this pickup stating that there were no trucks available. On all three reservations, I informed representative of size of truck I needed as well as it was for one-way and would be turned in to Roanoke location. I was quoted a price as well as the distance/miles that it would take. When I arrived (with no reservation) after calling and asking if 14ft trucks were available, I was told yes, and that she could not guarantee it without a reservation, I told her that was fine because I was coming right away. I arrived in less than 10 minutes. Parking lot was full of available trucks in all sizes. I was told that the 14ft and 17ft were the same prices. I was quoted a higher price than previously on my reservations. Personnel was nice and courteous at this point. After going out and approving the 17 ft truck. We returned inside for me only to be told that 14ft & 17ft trucks were not allowed to be rented out for one-way trips and that it had to be a 20ft truck for one-ways and then jacke the price up an additional $40. I was irate and left. But returned becuase I had no other alternatives. I was told the entire trip was $433 which included an $100 deposit that could be waived if I used credit card. When I arrived at the Roanoke Uhaul to return the truck I was told that I went over the "alotted" miles and woudl have to pay extra, (was never explained as allotted, was told what the mileage would be), it was placed on my credit card used to initially rent the truck. I have never seen such B.S. in my life! What a RIP OFF! Never again. I would not recommend this company to ANY if they have pickup trucks and friends available to help! You got me this time, but NEVER again!

parking area too small and congested . I was told to move my car not asked across the street? gas needed did not register 7/8 as I was told I have picture any way the rude white male insisted it was I returned the truck full! worse service I ever used you do need better customer friendly employees . thank you . Courtesy of the staff was poor. Reservation was never confirmed and therefore the truck that was requested was not available. The staff didn't care about the situation and had an attitude and spoke to me in a very unprofessional manner. Will definitely use another moving truck company in the future. After using uhaul previously, it's sad to see how poor the customer service has fallen.

The reservation process was a bad experience. Making my reservation Monday for a Friday trip, I had to wait until Wednesday to find I had to drive an hour out of my way twice just to rent a trailer. If I had known this Monday, I would have made other arrangements. I almost cancelled the trip altogether.

The truck was great, the storage experience was terrible! They weren't clear about their hours changing the next day so they ended up charging me for 24 hour access when all I needed was an hour. There are no ramps for furniture, you just have to lug it up multiple sets of steps. When he showed us the unit, there was a large puddle of sticky/slippery unidentified liquid in the hallway. I pointed it out to him, he said he didn't know what it was and walked away. I asked for a towel and he gave me some thin paper towels that did nothing. The storage area is sweltering! The air up there is so hot it's almost suffocating. They make you pay $10 for a lock that they require everyone to have. Lastly, both of the boxes I purchased fell through at the bottom.

Imagine this situation. You use your credit card to reserve a 20' uHaul truck for a one-way move for your 85 year old mother. She has to be out of her senior apartment by the following day because the government subsidies office, penalizes the housing that goes unused. You schedule and hire four workmen to load the truck and transport them 80 miles to the move site. 1000' from mom's residence is a large uHaul store that you have used frequently over the past 11 years for various move and boxing needs. When your friends moved you always recommended u-Haul on Riverside for their specialty boxes, day-move trucks, and one way moves. Then, when you show up (1000’ from the furniture) to get the keys to the truck you reserved and you hear, “That truck is Martinsville (about 30 miles west of where you are.) YOU (me “the so-called” customer in this lack of service event) need to call this number in Martinsville. So, after I respectfully express what is an unacceptable service situation and promise that I will never forgive u-Haul—I actually called the Martinsville UHaul number of the dealer who is supposed to have the truck I reserved with my (credit card). Guess what, the very nice lady from the Martinsville uHaul tells me she’s very sorry, but they don’t have a truck or an alternative solution for me. Now mind you, in the meantime, four workers are earnestly carrying serious furniture down the 40% slope of a terraced yard and fighting with a very small elevator that was heavily used. So, in 45 minutes, four serious workers have moved the two largest rooms to the outside of a loading dock and I have no u-Haul truck (that I reserved with my credit card). At about the 60 minute mark, I finally reached one of the workers via cell and told him to tell the crew to sit on their hands (at $20/hour x 4) until I can find a truck or trailer or something. And then…there was a little hope--I get a phone call from the Martinsville dealer. “Hey McGhee, there’s a truck in Stokesdale that YOU could go get.” Well, as much as I appreciated her extra effort, driving to Stokesdale meant driving another 100 miles through Greensboro traffic on a Saturday morning. That meant at least a four hour delay before we could start loading the imaginary truck that Uhaul didn’t have that I had reserved (with my credit card.) All the time I’m still paying 4 workers x $20/hr to sit on their hands. My only real option was to find a truck that was closer. So, I pulled out the white pages, assigned everyone a number to call and started the frantic search for a local truck or trailer. Fortunately, I found a 10’ foot uhaul truck in Yanceyville, NC. When I explained my situation to him, he quickly quipped that, “that’s about par for the course for that crew in Danville.” He told me that he’d hold the truck for me if I asked him to—which was nice because I could see he was making an honest effort and so far, uhaul on 28 June 2014 had made very few efforts on my beh

I rented a trailer from this location after the attendant checked the inventory and confirmed they had it. One day before my trip, a UHAUL dealer contacted me to confirm my reservation at a different location. I called the Danville UHAUL (where I DID make a reservation) and was told that I could not pick up my trailer until 12 noon, (I needed it at 7:00 AM), said they didn't have a trailer (although one was reserved for me the previous day). Long and short of it is they were sending me miles out of my way for a trailer that wasn't ready until hours after what I originally discussed with them and it screwed my move up BIG TIME. Now I am left to start from square one at the 11th hour. I do not plan on using UHAUL again. Very dissatisfied.

I rented a truck for 5 hours to move my son and it cost me well over $200. The cost of $1.29 per mile is rather high and when one considers that the gas mileage on the truck was atrocious. I had one 3 piece sectional that I drove 45 miles and the remainder of the furniture was moved across the street, then I drove an empty truck back to Danville from Whitsett, NC. There was a meter on there which indicated optimal gas mileage and from the time I started the truck I never received optimal gas mileage because loaded or empty, fast or slow, highway or local, the gauge was always in the red. I was very pleased with U'Haul's service, but I will never rent from them again if I can help it. Very overpriced.
