Our original vehicle was supposed to be picked up at Maaco Autobody in Wheeling, Illinois. I called earlier in the day and received confirmation with an employee. When I arrived, however, my vehicle was given to another customer going to New Jersey and I was sent on a wild goose chase to find a truck for my interstate move on the busiest moving day of the year. I am very disappointed with the way this was handled with U-Haul. Thank God we got a truck in the end or else I don't know what I would have done.

Get inside staff to put their phones down and pay attention to customers waiting for one of them to respond. I shouldn't have to wait 30+ seconds staring at both the location manager and employee while they chit-chat and goof off with their phones. Do that when you don't have customers on a time-table waiting.

My reserved time was reduced from 8 hours to 6 when I picked up the truck. A VERY unfriendly employee working the desk told her co-worker to change my reservation (right in front of me) and then repeatedly told me that I had only asked for 6 hours. Needing a truck back early is ok. Looking a customer in the face and lying to them is not. I'm giving 3 stars, just because everyone except for this employee was very polite even on a busy and stressful day.

When you change a customer's reservation, you should let them know ahead of time so there won't be any confusion or surprises. Initially I reserved a 24' truck for ten hours, and a pick up location on Touhy. I received an email stating I got what I reserved from reserving via online, but I ended up getting nothing I reserved for. Instead of the rep who called to confirm informing me that there actually aren't any 24' trucks in Chicago & for the amount of time I chose and I can't pick up at the location I chose they changed it and sent me an email-that's when I called to see what happened. No one acted as if they cared, and I was really upset. Highly disappointed!

Our trailer had 2 bad tires, that wasn't noticed until it was fully loaded. We also had a run around to different U-haul locations because our lights didn't work. Turns out you have to take it out of auto for trailer lights to work. We figured that out ourselves, no help from U-haul. Morton grove location much better!

Everything was great, but I was charged for fuel, which I refilled. I was given a contract that said the fuel was almost full. When I got the vehicle it said 3/4 and I mentioned this to the person who was inspecting the vehicle with me and he changed it on my contract and called the office on his radio. When I returned the vehicle , I was charged for not filling the vehicle to full. I called three times and left messages with customer service, but the location never got back to me, even though customer service said that I should be contacted in 72 hours. Otherwise a good experience, and all other experiences I have had at this location have been great.

As a contractor, I rent a different truck almost every week. The guy Carlos is rude and unprofessional. I've seen him be a real jerk on more than one occasion. If he's working, I wait for someone else or go to home depot and get a penske.

Next time do not lie and charge for gas claiming it was not filled up at return for an after hours drop-off. Then when shown a photo proving it was make up pathetic excuses for why you tried to charge me for something you shouldn't have. Also, be more prompt when issuing a refund on my credit card.
