I've rented 6 U-Haul trailers in the last 6 weeks and they have all come from U-Haul Moving & Storage of Gastonia at 3919 E Franklin Blvd Gastonia, NC 28056. The management and staff at this location are all great. Since I've become a frequent renter here I've gotten to know the manager (Cindy) very well. She's a non-stop hard worker with great customer service skills. Gastonia UHaul Excellent. They attempted to help all they could. Manager Cindy gave her personal number and contact information. Only complaint with Gastonia was elevator broke during move and became a very large inconvenience.

I worked at this same center for two years in the early 2000's and remember that the computer operating system was very cumbersome, redundant and unforgiving. Although a new OS has been implemented, the girl doing my contract still had problems that took about 15-20 mins to resolve (with help). Seems to me this OS still has the same problems as when I worked there. It should be simplified so people can get in and out in less time.

The first U-Haul that we were assigned had a broken door after spending considerable amount of time trying to fix the door they then decided to give us another truck. We were given the truck number and told "it's out there on the back row" . When we returned the truck, we were told that we could leave. I asked for a receipt and was told "we have your card, you don't need one." We went inside and asked for a receipt, the guy told us "didn't the guy outside give you one." He called the outside guy and told him that we wanted a receipt, the guy told him that we didn't need one. He then proceeded to tell the inside guy to put his earpiece in. When he did he asked the guy if we could hear him. The guy inside told him we couldn't hear him and the outside guy proceeded to tell him that he had charged us double for pads and dolly but not to let us know. Needless to say, we could hear everything. I asked for a copy of the receipt, saw the extra charges and asked for them to be removed. After nearly and hour the inside guy was still trying to figure out how to remove the extra charges. He supposedly called his manager and I was told that she would be in the next morning and would remove the extra charges from my credit card. Well it is eight days later and the charges were still not corrected. I called the store and left a message for the manager. She called back this afternoon and told me no refund was in order because I had asked for the extra equipment. After explaining that I had not she realized that she was referring to the original contract for the truck with the broken door and not the actual truck that we had taken. After she determined that we had indeed been charged extra and assigned extra she told me she would refund my extra charges. Not showing up yet, we will see. I would not send anyone to this U-Haul location! Ridiculous! They need to train their employees!

When I got the trailer home and loaded, I checked the tire pressure of the SUV and trailer. The left side tire of the trailer was more than 35 psi low. I put air in the tire and proceeded on my trip, checking the pressure along the way. The pressure seemed to decrease about 5 psi in a 24 hour period. For safety of the customers, a courtesy check of tire pressure would be a good measure, and could become a good PR effort.

This location needs to be more helpful in making sure towing equipment and vehicle are properly set up for travel. Me towing straps came off during the trip. Luckily for me, there was a professional mover at my hotel that got me setup so I wouldn't lose my car on the road.

I was unable to drop off in Bessemer City as the dealer there refused the drop off. Said take it to Gastonia after giving me a lecture on dropping off after hours at his location that lasted for about 5 mins. When I dropped in Gastonia after calling traffic, although on the first AT they charged a wrong destination, they did check with traffic and they ok'd the drop off there of both. The money was refunded to me. They were very nice and helpful at the Gastonia location. Bessemer City, however needs work. I will say he did give me a gate code so we could turn around rather than try to back up a 14 and a 17 ft trucks with auto transports on them in the rain on a muddy hill.

Keep doing what you're doing. When I was there I saw Cindy attempting to help someone whom I fear had lost their mind. She remained cool and composed throughout even when the crazy person threw something at her. Go Cindy and the entire team at Franklin Blvd!
