Upon drop off the individual said he would have the truck in for maintenance but had no regard for what I'd just endured.. I can only assume if you make your destination in 1 piece all is well!

My daughter left her rental lease and personal checkbook in the truck. When I called, there was no answer and I got sent to UHaul customer service. When I got to the location, about an hour after I dropped the truck off, it had been sent out again. No one had checked for our items. The attendant would not call the person who took the truck. They said they would do it later and call us the next day, which they never did. The service was extremely poor, and the staff very unhelpful with our situation. I plan to put a very poor review on yelp.

Despite a sign that said something about taking boxes back 100%, I was unable to return the bulk of boxes that I didn't use. This was really frustrating since i bought bulk purely because I was told explicitly I could return boxes.

Very rude manager. I told him we had a 20' uhaul truck and would be dropping off the auto hauler we were towing behind the truck saturday evening. He told us over the phone we could back it up and park it next to the office. Ok, no problem. We get there and the driveway is probably 50 ft long, just over one car wide, lined with used cars. You had to stop in four lanes of traffic and back up (illegally) on the main road to get into the driveway. No heads up in regards to this from him. So we pull in forwards to get out and figure out how we are going to back up and get the transport to the correct place. The manager berates my husband that we had agreed to back it in (again, over the phone and we were simply trying to figure out how to get the truck in there before plowing into cars or blocking traffic on the main road). He was extremely rude, should have given us some sort of heads up as to the condition of the diveway. I would never rent a uhaul truck from this location.

The gentlemen there was extremely unprofessional. He was difficult to deal with and blamed me for not picking up my phone when he tried to call and confirm. I indicated that no message was left and he was extraordinarily rude. I've never had issues such as this with uhauls in the last.

Please let us know the truck will not be reserved for us for the duration of our reservation. I reserved the truck from 11 - 3 and thought that I could arrive between then to get the truck. So when I got to the location around 1145, I expected the truck but realized they have given the truck away. I understand the business model but I wish someone told me that the truck would only be reserved for 30 minutes from the start time before my reservation is void.

I had to submit a formal complaint to the regional office because my reservation caused me loss of time and money. Your policy prevented me from switching out a truck that could tow once I was in the pickup location out of town, because the truck I was rented didn't have towing capabilities

They weren't ready for all of their 10AM appointments (hadn't processed the returns from the previous day). They have a tiny lot, barely anywhere to turn around, only one way in and the same way out. Only 2 people there, the owner and his kid. The kid couldn't drive the vehicles so was of limited help. The office is dirty, unorganized and run-down. The uhaul I rented was ancient, loud, everything was loose (such as the entire dashboard) from the engine shake. The passenger door didn't seal well, so there was terrible wind noise at freeway speeds. It got terrible fuel mileage, nowhere near what was promised on the website; and the fuel gauge jumped all over the place, was difficult to gauge how much fuel was actually left.

The parking problem needs to be resolved; customers need to be able to park their own vehicle while waiting for the rental vehicle. Training in customer service is necessary so that you don't keep customers waiting up to an hour. Vehicles should be cleaned in the cabin and deodorized.

I had originally set up an appointment for the state street location in santa barbara. They called me an hour before my appointment saying that another customer had not returned their truck so I would have to go to this branch in Goleta, which would be more expensive for me, but U Haul would not give me a discount to account for this. Presumably, U Haul is charging some crazy fee for this other customer's failure to return their truck on time. Why is it my responsibility to pay extra because of this? If I'm paying extra and the other person is also paying a fee, this means U haul profits twice from the inconvenience they are giving me. What the hell? How is that a fair way to treat your customers? I didn't raise a stink with the local store manager, but I find this to be a really terrible way for U haul to handle customers. I should not be held financially responsible for your errors.

There was nothing positive about this drop off. The "manager" was not at the business, once he got there- he made me wait while he re-arranged the vehicles, then he got frustrated at me because I did not back in the trailer (on a busy morning on a busy street with a lifted finally). I attempted to tell him that it was not legal to block traffic, but I didn't want to waste my time. Basically, I could not get out of here soon enough.

I decided to give this location one more chance, as I had a bad experience last week, and the owner sent me a $50 refund, and a promise to "wow" me the next time I came back. I decided to rent a van this time around, and at first the owner's son was very helpful and quick. Before I left with the van, he told me that the van gets 15mpg, and that if I didn't put gas in the van when returning it, that they would just charge me what the gas station does. When I returned the van the next day, I chose not to add gas, based on what I was told, but the owner's son tried to charge me over $20 is gas for driving 44 miles! After some negotation, we decided to settle on $15 for gas ($5 per gallon for 3 gallon), which is still more than I would have paid, had I just put gas in myself. I was mislead by the owner's son, for just a few bucks, the same thing that the owner did the previous week. These guys are crooks! They will do whatever it takes to get a couple more bucks out of you. I will NEVER go back to them, and I will tell everyone I know to avoid using Goleta Motors for their moving needs.
