I rented a vehicle hauler and had to drive about 75 miles to grab my broken down vehicle. Once I got there and the vehicle loaded I realized that the straps were too short to secure the tires. Luckily I had my own straps and was able to transport the car. I notified the employees and they didn't seem too concerned that had I not had my own equipment i would not have

I won’t recommend U-Haul ever to anyone. It did not object to any of the people worked with, in fact Aubrey in Havre Montana was great. What I found very unprofessional and incompetent was the U-Haul business process. I moved from a remote location in Havre Montana, look it up on a map. However, when I reserved my 26' truck and tow dolly online 2 weeks prior to moving I mistakenly thought I had actually reserved a truck. However, much to my surprise, Less than two days before I was to pick up my equipment I got a call from the Billings MT regional office to tell me that the Havre U-Haul did not have a 26' truck. When I asked why the rep replied that they do not actually download reservations to dealerships until two days or less ahead of time. So the Havre location did not even know I was needing a 26' truck, they did not even know I had reserved anything. I was then informed that what I should have done was call myself to confirm the reservation with the Havre location. That would have been helpful information to have 2 weeks prior. I was also told I could travel two hours away and pick up a U-Haul 26' truck from Great Falls Montana, with one catch...the rep did not call me until 4:15 pm and the Great Falls location closed at 5 pm. Hmmm. That was not very helpful advice. I was then told that U-Haul could substitute for me the next smaller truck but add a trailer. I was told that this was essentially equivalent, but later read the specs and saw that it was over 1000 cubic feet less. In my mind that is not almost equal.
Now, by necessity I assure you, I am forced to use U-Haul to move the remainder of my household items. At least this time I called the dealership myself (fool me twice shame on me) only to learn that there will again be no 26' trucks available. At least I know ahead of time. I called the Billings regions office to see about perhaps getting some equipment to Havre and was told that U-Haul has no intention of making sure places have equipment, that it simply relies on the random chances of fate to cross its fingers and hope that trucks arrive because people use them and bring them to the area (I am paraphrasing this a little bit). I was told that they could guarantee there would be a truck "in the area", which means 100 miles in any direction, but that they would not guarantee it would be a 26' truck. Nor could the rep honestly guarantee that the next smaller size truck would be in the area, though she was pretty sure there was a good chance one would be around. Great.
Now, I get it that U-Haul does not have a fleet of trucks parked in sparsely populated rural locations waiting for me or others to just pick up the keys. It is a dynamic business; trucks are always on the go, the world is in flux. What I really object to it the incompetence and (I know this is a hard word but it fits) deception that comes through a website that, from appearances, suggests that if you reserve something it will in fact be r

Truck had multiple problems. Bad tires,windshield wipers, door and window seals, loose rattling plastic parts. Trailer had very bad tires had three blown tires etc etc.

The young men that have helped us both times has been wonderful. We pick this location because we have had such a great experience with service. I ordered packing supplies while making my online reservation and they had them ready for me when I got there (the same day I made online reservation - even though our uhaul rental was for a later day).

get rid of the by the mile charges... i would rather pay 30-40 dollars a day for a pick up, than 56 cents a mile. it adds up flipping quick. or just have an unlimited mile deal or something with the pickups

I rented the biggest moving truck you guys had and also 2 10x20 storag sheds from you... First I get to uhaul and they give me the oldest truck in your fleet it would take me a good 5 minutes to start it up everytime, then I get a load take it to your storage facility just to be locked out with no one to talk to there and no one answering the local phones! A kind person leaving gave me her pin to get in then when driving through the lot to my shed the uhaul gets stuck because the drainage reviens were so big it bottomed out the truck I was stuck for over two hours and still no one on location and could not get ahold of the local store!! A nother nice man happend to have a chain and pull me out for 50$ after unloading then driving to the local office the desk lady calls the manager and asked if he was there he said he was and pretty much making me out to be a liar, I asked to speak with him he refused I asked if he would come down to the office so we could work this out he also refused then told me he gets off at 12 and will not come back in the office to talk to me for 4 more days later.....

All staff on the pnones and in person were helpful.....but the u haul I.T. registration tools were terrible....we spent 3 hours on the stupid web site trying to make a reservation or make ch ages.....then repeated this painfull process 3 more times at the rental sites...
Basically, YOUR COMPANY SEEMED TO DISRESPE T MY TIME BY HAVING SUCH POOR COMPUTER OR WEB TOOLS. We will try anonter vendkr next time.
