The man with the long black hair who wore hat was very professional and customer friendly. He was very attentive to all of us in line. Really great people service! First time had issues restarting the car, second time, tire air light came on immediately as I started driving.

I had to go to this location because where I had a reservation at the John Dr. location in Castro Valley didn't have a truck for me. Will never use them again. This is the 2nd time I had problems at Valley Truck. I will NEVER EVER go there again!!! I rate them a negative 5. Had to use My Italian temper only because after calling customer service to find the Hayward location where they said they had trucks available they only had a pick up. Not what I reserved. How do you relocate a 2bedroom 2 bath condo in a pickup? Get your management on board.

Move went well, truck did its job. Would use U-haul again. Rented a 26' truck. Cargo area was clean but the cab was not. Seat needed vacuuming, smelled of stale cigarettes, brake fluid leaking inside, some dash lights were out, overhead light didn't work, reverse lights worked on & off, had to tighten the parking brake switch to the dashboard, engine was hard to start when cold, Transmission shifted late & hard, windshield was dirty on the inside, radio didn't work. Floorboards were clean.

I brought the truck back and exceeded the gas requirement (less than 3/4 tank) and then was charged for driving 4 more miles over the limit. I was promised money and it is not provided, I bring in the truck almost full and then get charged almost $4.00, it did not sit well with me.

When I did a walk around with the agent I found that the passenger side box had been tagged with paint and that the front passenger corner had a large dent also the black grill had been hit. When I asked to have a note made of this I was told by ahe agent MICHAEL K. it wasn't necessary that they knew of the damage and that only if it was going to be a one way rental that they would have to make a note of such damage. Thank GOD my daughter and I were smart enough to take pictures of the damage, because when I returned the vehicle the first thing they asked was if I hit something because of the dent. I told them no and then had to explain the damage and that MICHAEL said they knew about it.They weren't believing me. So I showed them the pictures, they asked if I could show them the time stamped on it. It was clearly while on u haul property,they agreed so no further action was taken. No thanks to MICHAEL I almost got stuck with a large repair bill. This is why I would never recommend this center to any friend or family member, unless I hated them, and will never use it again.

NOTHING everything was smooth. I cant remember the guys name who serviced me, I think his last name was Singh and dude was on point . But I use this location literally once a year and everything always goes great.

2 Big issues - 1. the back of the truck was locked and I didn't have a key - I noticed when I got back home, called the Jackson store and they said "any Uhaul location can help you" - I went to another Uhaul location but they couldn't help me - and looked confused as to why they would send me to any Uhaul location - I called road assistance and they told me Jackson location would call me, but I may want to just cut it off. No call from Jackson location and I did cut it off. 2. I returned my rental about 45 min late and was charged a complete day rate with insurance. I spoke to 2 staff members who said they have a grace period policy and it shouldn't have happened, but they were not authorized to refund the money, I would have to contact the owner - I tried to contact him by calling the location and his personal number with a Voicemail - but he has not returned my call.

So I first made a reservation at the Castro Valley Location. I get there on time today at 10am and without a simple courtesy call. I arrive and there computers are down so they can't rent me a truck that I already reserved. The clerk is stuffing his face and says don't worry they have plenty of 14' foot trucks at the Hayward Jackson street location and sends me there. I get to the Jackson Street location. They have one 14' truck. I pay ...but its $45 more than what I originally reserved as a one way rental. I'm in the drivers seat already with the truck on and the clerk tells me to hold on as he notices due to the rain that there is a lot of water in the cab of the truck. So I get out jump back there to inspect and yes way to many leaks theres a ton of water from the rain. All of sudden the truck starts driving as we are in the back of the truck. I jump out as we are moving and run to the driver and its the other clerk. I thought it was a car'jacker. The other clerk didn't know we were in back of the truck? WOW!? So then we go back in because this flooded truck isn't rentable. They give me a smaller 10' truck and credit my card on $7.00! How can the 10' truck only be a $7.00 difference? And I still paid the taxes on the original higher rate! So I almost get hurt, I don't get to fully move today because I got stuck with a smaller truck and then I'm cheated out money! What is going to be done about this? Francisco Garibay

I only suggest, to provide a final bill. Since I am paying by the mile, I would like to see how much I paid. Being that the primary location has my card, I have to wait and check my statement for how much I'm charged.

The staff helping me did not have a personality at all. I truly felt like a transaction and a task for the entire gentleman helping me. The wipers on the truck was old and stiff. The blades on them were hard so they barely got water off the wind shield. The passenger side mirror was taped so every time I drove the mirror would change directions. Would have to get out in the rain to adjust the mirror so I can back up the truck. Frustrating.

The only thing I'd recommend is staffing the center with more people and reps at the front. Cashiers and customer services reps shouldn't be doubling as outdoor maintenance and cleaning staff. It really slows down the check in and check out process. People who are just ducking in for supplies shouldn't have to wait behind people who have to be there for the whole process.

I was misquoted which doesnt help with budgeting. I told them that I would not be able to return the truck till 12 noon when i made the reservation. when the day came to return it i was being called being told that I was late and that I would get charged an extra day even though I tried to explain to them that I had made clear that I wasnt going to return it till 12.

The person who helped me was not very professional, he didn't know where the truck was when I first rented it and never did the walk around truck inspection with me. The truck itself must have a faulty alternator. I must of had to jump start the truck 8 times in one day. Every time I turned it off it would be dead when I went to start it. If you want to improve for the next customer, how about keeping the maintenance on the trucks up to date. Or maybe just hire employees who might actually give a Damn about their jobs and get off their ass when a customer is asking them where the truck is? But then again, what do I know, I am just a disgruntled customer who will not be doing business with this location again.

When I walked in, the lady who helped me was just playing with her phone, and just sortof shrugged about most of my questions. I explained where I'd be driving and how long I'd need the truck, and was quoted a total price much less than it ended up costing ($138 for a local move!). We're already short on money from the move. The milage rate I was quoted sounded a bit high compared from what I've gotten at U-Haul before, and when I asked about the rate she said that's the best she can do and that corporate doesn't allow them to change the rates (which is untrue; I've used U-Haul many times and usually the staff are extremely understanding and helpful and willing to work with you). The dropoff location assigned (1st st) was closed and gated, and the guy had been angrily calling me all day even though I had originally signed up for a 2 day rental, or so I thought, so I had to call customer service (who were extremely helpful and understanding!) and get a new dropoff location. I was overall pretty disappointed with this experience. However, my experience with 800-GO-UHAUL was extremely pleasant and I have no complaints about that part. I'd avoid this Hayward location and the 1st Street location in San Jose.
