The customer service was horrible. We made our reservation months in advance but when we checked back nearer to the check in date we were told the unit we had reserved had been given away by an employee that no longer worked there and there was no other units available. They gave us a list of other storage facilities in the area, but when we called back a few hours later they were able to find us another unit that was bigger than we needed and of course came at a higher price. Time was running out so we had no choice but to accept the replacement unit. After storing our materials in the unit for three months, we came to pick up our things and found our original lock had been removed and replaced with a new lock that we couldn't open!! Thankfully when the unit was opened, our things were still there. We had an appointment to pick up a rental van at 7am, but when we said we might be a little late, we were told we might lose the van to someone else if we were late (even if we paid for it in advance). After what happened to the storage unit this made us nervious, so we changed the pick up time to 8:30am. We asked if there would be a problem if we got there before 8:30am and we were told that we wouldn't be able to take the van before the new pick up time of 8:30am. Also after renting the more expensive unit for 3 months, we said that we wouldn't be able to pick up our things until 1 week after the end of the 3rd month. They said they would have to charge us for a FULL 4th month even though we would only be using it for 1 additional week. They claimed it was "company policy". In addition, I would like to mention that it was almost impossible to reach anyone at the 848 Ulster Ave. facility. In order to get any answers, we had to call the corporate 800 customer service number and have THEM try and contact the Kingston people. They had a difficult time doing this too. Finally, we used this facility for 2 reasons: 1) It was near where we needed the things to go and 2) I had faith in the U-Haul name and reputation, but after this last experience with this facility you can bet that next year we will be using a different company. We will need a storage unit for the 3 summer months over the next few years and while this location would be perfect in terms of location, that fact is hardly worth the headaches we encountered. Next year we will be taking our business elsewhere. and will be encouraging others to do likewise.

I just have to say that the staff in that location are great. I have rented twice in the past year and it did not matter who was " on" " It went smoothly.

My experience was HORRIBLE! I reserved an 5X8 covered trailer via the online UHaul cite at Marc's transmission in Port Ewen NY, Based off of what the online site told me was available. I received a call later the next day which stated that they did Not have the 5x8 I reserved but that the Kingston location had it and I could get my trailer there. That they would switch my confirmed reservation to that location NOTHING else besides where I was to go to pick it up would change. I agreed that was fine and confirmed the change. The next day I arrived at the Kingston Ny location to rent my covered trailer, and the guy behind the counter gives me a blank look when I state my name and confirmation number. He does from scouting through his computer and tells me there is no reservation for me, and that there are NO 5x8's to rent. So logically I deside to call Marc's transmission to find out what had happen, maybe a mix up in confirmation numbers, or in locations. The guy answers the phone and I introduce myself and begin to explain my sistuation and to ask him if he could please look into it for me maybe a number is mixed up. Before I can even finish explaining my situation to him he start aggressively telling me theres nothing he can do for me, he can't help. I try to ask him if I did the rental confirmation with their business, and then THEY had to change it, could he not just quickly check it on the computer or help in anyway. He gets more aggressive to the point he's yelling at me and I tell him there is no reason to raise his voice and yell at me I'm talking calmly and just trying to get some help. At which point he continues angrily with a raised voice about how he can't help me I should go online to the main company website....and at that point I hung up. Obviously this guy was just going to continue yelling at me and as a customer I shouldn't have to deal with that. Moving is stressful enough without your order being screwed up and having some jerk yell at me for asking for help. I have NEVER been treated so horribly by a company, my roommate in the car could even hear the guy yelling on the phone being very rude. So i ended up having to go back inside to the Kingston location and rent a truck because my reservation was all messed up and I needed to move that day, costing me $200.00 compared to the much lower covered trailer price of $30. When I did finally rent the truck the guy behind the counter told me in surprise voice as he typed in my information that "oh it looks like you are in our system, someone put you under a 5x9 Open trailer do you want that?"...As I looked at him and then looked outside at the rain I said very dryly 'no.' Worst moving experience EVER!

the employee was complaining about the work location upon arrival. He gave us our Uhual and finished the transaction. when we got away from location we tried to use the radio only to find there was no antenna. when we returned Uhaul Staff was friendlier but when I complained about the radio staff laughed saying a man ripped it off and dented the vehicle. while we were unloading our dolly the staff turned truck on without checking the door being closed almost hitting me. overall the process to get the Uhual was easy, but staff didnt seem to be trained well

My trailer did not take a queen size bed as promised. I was charged for two days instead of one. No one seems to be connected from one division to another. You get transferrred multiple times to the wrong person

The manager, JEFF, is very hard to get a hold of, in fact, IMPOSSIBLE! Trying to settle a financial glitch with my credit card for months and months and haven't been able to reach the manager once. Thanks a lot for your help.

Uhaul ingeneral has gotten to big. Too complicated. Too corporate. Not personal like it used to be and one fellow was rude. Not at Kingston though someone in Arizona I believe. Had a damaged passenger side mirror.

While lour local people are wonderful, attempting to call your national number is a disaster. Dropped calls, reps with little to no knowledge, on hold times approaching 20-30 minutes, only to be cut off and start again. I wonder how many customers you lose to other vendors. I would have gone elsewhere if it were not for our local people.
