I was asked to fill up with gas from where the fuel indicator ended, in my case 7/8 full. Aldo in the contract it said if the van needed fuel they would charge $4.25/gal. Went I went to fill up I had driven 30 miles but the van took nearly 6 gallons. I told the attendant I was not sure whether to keep filling the tank so was cautious and filled it , he would not give me a refund on nearly 4 gallons of fuel. I thought it was odd that a company would risk losing a customer for $12! Little old ladies are a market I would think UHaul would want, but I was sad to see that I was not reimbursed . I shouldn't be responsible for your inaccurate gas gauge .

take their word about the mileage actually show them the truck don't rush to just get people out the store don't say there's nothing I can do to help a customer Unless you call the 800 number

I found the condition of my unit dirty--complete with pine cones, leaves, dirt, and cobwebs--and swept it out myself. Not a big problem but I expected to be able to move my items in immediately and was not able to with this setback. Customer service is always very goods.

We reserved a 20' truck for an 8a pick. The day before, we got a call saying that the truck would be ready at noon. When asked why the time had changed, they said simply because that's when the previous customer will bring it back. I had to re-hire movers, change the entire day around (less than 24 hours in advance) but I did so with no complaints. I should up at 12p to pick up the truck, no truck. They called the previous renter who said he wouldn't be back anytime soon. They told him he would have to pay a $50 fine and cover the cost of our rental. He said he would call back (and never did). After much discussion, they gave us a 26' truck. Fine with me. As we were walking out to the truck, someone was glueing on the right signal light. We drove away and got to our location (20 miles away) only to find out that the truck did not go in reverse. We called roadside assistance. They said they would tow the truck away and wouldn't send a technician as they couldn't fix the problem (that they were aware of when renting the truck) on-site. I asked them to bring us another truck-of course roadside assistance can't do that. The pick up location in Kingston would not pick up their phone, so we were transferred to someone else-i told them the problem, she transferred me again-i told the story-was transferred again (4 times i told the same story) and finally a woman said she could help me-would I like to pick up the new truck or did I need them to bring it to me. I said please bring it to me-gave her the address etc. Hold...no one can bring us a truck. Not possible. So after 75 minutes on the phone, someone was finally able to get us a truck-from Kington-the 20'er we originally requested but we had to go pick it up. I wasted over 3 hours dealing with this and I will never rent from UHaul again. I was told that a manager would call me today to reimburse the $100 of gas I put in the truck, no one has called. It's 1042AM. And of course, their phone says everyone is busy and to please call back later. At minimum I am owed $99.14 for the gas I wasted. And I think I should get a full refund from this experience as it was the worse customer service I have ever received from a truck rental business (of which I rent trucks at least once/month for work). You have definitely lost a customer.

The truck was ready when we arrived. It was the proper size truck. The door handle on the inside was broken and the representative informed us he was too busy to mark it on our contract. We did not get billed for it. It was extremely difficult to reach a representative by phone on Friday or Monday and when we did we were informed it was impossible to check whether we were properly billed, since we returned the truck after hours and "the computer systems were down". .

We rented a truck that apparently had a history of needing repairs and once our truck was loaded it failed to start. We were not told there may be a problem and we were just told to use road side assistance when we went in to talk to them. They failed to pick up the phone when we were calling for assistance and when I went in and said the phone wasn't connected they had no idea why. Missed a day of work because of their neglect

The equipment I ordered, a 20' truck, was not available. The agent had to call someone to resolve the problem. The first resolution was for me to drive to Poughkeepsie NY to pick up a truck available there and for my inconvenience I would get $50 off (which is what the website offers anyway for equipment reserved but not available) and 30 miles free. Problem was that it would be close to or slightly over 30 miles meaning that I would be out of pocket for the miles over plus would have to pay for the gas. I declined that resolution. I noticed a key for a 24' truck and inquired about that. It had to be returned to that location, not dropped off in the town moving to. The distances were only 20 miles apart so I offered to take that truck but wanted the $50 (which again i had coming to me) and the 30 miles. The agent had to call again to get permission - the agent had not authority to take action on his own apparently. The person he spoke to said no to that suggestion. After hanging up, I noticed that there was a 17' truck available and I offered to take that one but wanted 50 miles to cover the round trip if the move took more than one trip due to smaller truck than reserved. Yes, you guessed it. Another call. The offer remained $50 off and 30 miles. I decided to accept only because I had friends waiting to help load the truck and I was already in the un-airconditioned, extremely hot office for 45 minutes. While there the two people the agent helped while waiting for phone calls back on my issue both had problems. Truly too bad that U-Haul doesn't have a competitor with as many locations as they do. Next time I will drive the extra distance to find a Penske or Hertz to rent from. A horrific customer service experience!!

When there's damage to the roof and if it rain could danger the costumer items they should b told was it on the paper yes but it was on the back and I didn't notice til later that day. I just think it should have been told verbally it didn't rain nothing got ruin but if it did just my thought otherwise I've rented from you in the past prolly will again

Drivers door handle was broken, made it very difficult to close the door. Concerned that the customer before me was given a discount regarding this defect but I was not. Business practices/considerations should be consistent and if a defect was deemed a concern that would cause a cost adjustment then it should be applied to all customers.

I was very disappointed with the 17' truck I rented today. This truck should never have been in your rental fleet because it was not road worthy. From the engine misfiring, stalling out three times, the gas gauge not operating correctly, as the backfiring that occurred too. This truck had no business being rented today. This is my third truck rental from this location in the past month or so and I am not sure I would return. The only discount I received after returning this piece of junk was a twenty cent discount per mile. This location should of paid me just that I made it back in one piece.

We were our way to move with the truck and had driven at least 15 miles and had to turn around and go back to UHaul because the engine light as well as other lights came on in truck. When we brought it back, the man who had helped us had to put coolant in it. Had we not gone back the truck probably would've overheated and we would've broken down. The man at the store tod us we would get refunded something because of this inconvenience. It set us back a good 1/2 hour if not more. I would suggest all truck's fluids be checked before renting them out. Thank you.
