It always takes so long to pick up a vehicle, even with advance check-in because there are so many people waiting with not enough staff. So even though we did the advance check-in, the three people ahead of us did not so it didn't save us much time.

Initially would not allow to take trailer due to fault in tow vehicle electrical harness. Brought another vehicle in and adapted its connector to trailer. Accommodated loss of time with a second day use. Safety was a higher level of concern and this should be respected by all. Equipment performed well.

Passenger side door on truck we rented would not open from the inside - a pretty significant safety hazard. We have rented from this location many times and will continue to do so.

I just want to give some background on my previous experience with U-Haul for a move I did in November 2013. It was horrible. I reserved the truck and a tow dolly in advance. Went in the morning of my reservation (7:30am) and they had over booked, so there was no truck for me, but there was a dolly. However I now have to drive to Martinez to pick up my truck then back to Concord to attach the dolly. INCONVENIENT. So now I am late into my move, I have extra miles on a truck that wasn’t ready at the time promised and we move my home. I call customer service to complain about this and get to deal with one of the most ignorant people I have ever spoken to on a phone. NOT someone that should represent U-Haul. End result of that I was given a $20 VIP number to redeem. So I reserve a truck on Friday 3/23/14 for the next day. Of course this truck isn’t available on Monument Dr. in Concord, but it is on Via De Mercados, which is great. So I select this location and it tells me someone from this location will call me with a pick up time for tomorrow. I go home and wait. No call. I wake up at 7am, ready to get this going and decide to call U-Haul myself. Good thing I did. I explain to the rep what I have been through and that I really just want this to go smoothly. She tells me the only truck available is in Pittsburg, CA. EVEN FURTHER. So I agree to pick it up there. I mention my VIP cert. She tells me just mention it to the pickup location person. So after checking in and reviewing the contract (before signing) I notice I have 40 miles for this move. I explain to the guy that this just took me 15 to get here. He basically says he can’t change it, I am will to pay for the miles before I take the truck so I am not penalized later. He finally gives 10 extra miles. I mention my VIP number and he tells me he can’t accept it. So I get on the phone and call U-Haul. A supervisor and him talk. No resolution. Can’t be used here. He says his Manager will call me regarding this issue by Monday, because he doesn’t work weekends. Today is Wednesday, No call. I find this completely unprofessional. I understand you are a big company. And things may be overbooked and changes happen, but treat your customer’s right!!! Don’t argue with them or flat out say you can’t help me. Moving is stressful enough. I will NEVER rent from U-Haul ever again. And I highly recommend you train the people you have that are side companies, but offer your trucks to get trained!!! That’s your company name they are using and a direct representation of your company. Having me (a single woman) go in a little tiny room with two men to complete my order, is also inappropriate. The fact that the manager from this location never called me back tells me this is ok and that he doesn’t care. My move ended up taking longer and using more mileage. 97.3 miles. The man at the Livermore return location was amazing. Although I paid for it, he was able to use my VI

The women that helped was all alone. I was very surprise to see that she was very knowledgeable in all aspects of your business. The customer service provided by her was the best I have ever experience, if I was a her manager I would take good care of her for employee retention. This employee is what every company needs to be sucessful.

I would have had the truck for unlimited miles and I couldn't get it. When putting in my reservation it said nothing about 30 mile limit so I assumed unlimited, like what I get for cars. I would say this is bad customer service and I'll try to have my business go somewhere else next time.

I reserved a 5x9 trailer 24 hours in advance. When I arrived to pick it up I was told the were all checked out and the only one the had in the yard but it needed wiring repair. I had to reschedule for the next day. I schould have received some type of notification in advance but never did. This error was a major inconvience in my moving plans, Thank You.
