The truck I reserved was not available. I waited 1.5 hrs to get a smaller truck that forced me to split the load into 2 trips. The staff was nice and made sure the charges were fair. It looks like they were doing the best they could in a tough situation, but the overall experience was not pleasant and I'm sure something could have been done to avoid the situation in the first place.

The return line was so long we were out the driveway into a busy 4 lane hiway. A FedEx semi and a bus almost hit us. After sitting in this precarious situation for over 10 minutes my wife got out to alert the Uhaul personel and found that there were only 2 people on duty and they were oblivious to the situation.

The check in procedure on the computers seems to laborious, complicated, and slow for your staff. Too much time needing to look at the screen while the customer stands reading the profuse promotional material sitting on the counter! I don't know what the software/process is, but maybe a revamp for your corporation is in order?

I reserved a 15' truck weeks in advance and when I arrived only 10' trucks were available. No replacement at other locations was available either. The truck was too small for the job. Waiting line was one hour.

We were over charged for a dolly. A few days later we rented a truck and were charged for 2 days even though we returned it in less than 24 hours. The manager hasn't called back about our complaints.

reserved truck 1 month in advance and it still was not available (even within 1 hour radius of madison) on the day we needed it. Ended up having to rent 2 smaller trucks which still wasn't enough and had to take 2 trips. Completely ruined our moving plans. To top it off, when dropped off the trucks after hours, the lockbox was open with all the keys thrown in there. Employees still haven't confirmed that they received one of the trucks. This experience was a total nightmare.

I have used other U-Haul offices in the past for various moves over the years. Never have I had such a horrible experience as I did with the Verona Road location. I will NEVER give them my business again. When I arrived at 10:00 am for my scheduled pick-up, there were fifteen people in line ahead of me. It wasn't until 10:30 that I was able to leave with the truck. Before leaving with the truck I reviewed with the employee each piece of equipment I was renting and was assured--twice--that all equipment I paid for was in the truck. When I arrived at my destination I discovered that equipment I paid for was not in the truck. I called U-Haul customer service to report the omission of equipment, but the woman at customer service was rude to me and told me I had to go back to U-Haul to pick up the equipment myself. I drove all the way back to U-Haul and when I arrived the line of customers was almost out the door. I advised the only employee I could see that I needed to speak with a manager about a problem with my rental. After waiting about five minutes the female employee asked me to explain. I told her about the missing equipment and shared the fact that I was told I had to come back myself to pick up the equipment, even though it was a huge inconvenience. She followed me out to the truck and saw that the equipment was missing. Instead of apologizing she was actually angry and rude to me. I realize the omission of equipment was probably not her fault, but she could at least have apologized for my having to be inconvenienced--in other words, a 'general' apology. I asked her to make a note on my receipt that the equipment had not been in the truck, which she reluctantly did. I then asked her to write her name on the paper as proof that a U-Haul employee documented this. She refused to do this, and instead wrote her initials on the paper. Without another word to me she turned and stormed off toward the office. This incident delayed my move by about an hour. in addition, even though I paid for a full 24-hours' use of the truck, I was told that I had to return it by 6:00 pm that very evening because someone else had it reserved at that time. When I asked if I would get a reduction in the truck rental fee because I was only allowed to use the truck for eight hours I was given an emphatic 'No'.

Since you have express check in on line, you should have an express line for pick up. I waited for people who did not even order a vehicle ahead of time. It took an hour to pick up.

I did not drop the equipment off at this location. A tow truck had to bring the car transport to me out on the freeway and switch it out so I could continue on my way some three hours later. Mary from the 800 Roadside Assistance was very helpful.

Dropping it off at the local Uhaul was a decent experience but in no way even comes lose to making up for the fact I was ripped off on the cost and told I had to drive 60 miles to pick up my truck

At both my pickup and dropoff there was unruly customers. The staff handled it well, but long wait lines probably added to the situation. (which would be expected on the last weekend before the end of the month). The staff handled my check in and check out very efficiently.

I had a number of issues. First, my reservation was to pick up a 15' truck in Loves Park, IL. I got a call the afternoon before saying there were no 15' and they could only offer me a 10' plus trailer. This would not have been enough room and a hassle to move around with a traileron behind the truck. I asked for a 15' and the closest was in Madison, WI at my dropoff location 89 mIles away. I asked if they could give me a larger truck and the closest was even further away in Whitewater, WI. To make matters worse, the dispatcher was very rude and did not understand why I was not pleased to be told the afternoon before a big move that the closest equipment was over an hour away. Uhaul will take reservations with no regard as to how they will fill them. With no other option I had to agree to the 15' that was over an hour away. I also had to ask for double mileage and a gas refund to allow for the extra miles to simply transport it back to my original pickup area. To top it off, when I got to the new pickup location, they had problems filling my changed reservation on the computer system as they could not retrieve it from the original location. They were not able to get it resolved and had to redo the resevasion from scratch as if I were a walk-in including all of the special considerations. Lastly, when I returned the truck the computer system wanted to charge 178 extra miles even though I had been granted the extra miles to cover the full trip. The clerk once again had to fight the computer system to make the invoice correct. I will say both the pickup and dropoff associate seemed very capable and wanted to do the right thing. However the system made it difficult for them to do what they needed to do. Coupled with the "take all reservations and figure it out later" business model and I don't know if I'll be renting from Uhaul for my next move.
