I rented from Manchester because, although it is over 30 miles from my parents' home in Cheshire, it was the closest UHaul location with the desired truck size at the time I needed to move (I made a last minute change to my reservation to get a smaller truck). Because I needed to back-track to load up the truck, I had a feeling I would need more miles on my reservation than what was allowed. I requested to have more miles allowed added to my contract, but the gentleman who helped me said I would be able to contact customer service in the event I exceeded the miles allowed and that they could tack on the necessary mileage after the fact for no charge. While the cost to me in the end was negligible ($0.40/mile), I would have appreciated being told the correct information: that in fact the contract was binding and mileage could not be added at the end. I also was not told that the return time was exactly the same time of day as the pick up time. As it was a two-part move for me (I moved furniture from CT and also from my apartment in Boston), I needed the full weekend. Since I was under the impression I could return the truck whenever I was done with it on Sunday, I ended up being charged a day-late fee. This fee was more significant than the mileage fee and I would have preferred to avoid the extra cost.

This location is a convenience store. Though they had a U-haul sign displayed, there weren't any other U-haul vehicles or trailers there until i dropped off the truck. The lack of inventory may turn someone off - unless the store can arrange for equipment to be there on the date needed.

My only complaint with this location is that the gas tank was only half full when I picked it up. I think its poor customer service to only provide a half tank and say "return it with at least a half tank." I put $88 worth of gas into the truck before my trip and really only half that would have been sufficient. I know that Uhaul makes out on that deal but it really frustrated me and may lead me to not rent in the future from Uhaul.
