Front windshield was very dirty inside and out. The cab of the truck smelt like an ashtray. The floor in the van got wet at the wheel wells. The front bumper had been pushed over, before I picked it up, causing metal on metal to be rubbing. Other then that the truck drove pretty good.

I picked up a 26’ UHaul Neighborhood dealer on 300 W Pinecrest in Marshall, TX. I inspected and videoed the exterior of the truck as it was well used. There were parts of the exterior that had been replaced with plain sheet metal. I was thinking at the time, “This is going to be an interesting trip.” I was not disappointed. Before I left town, I stopped 3 times to close the driver’s door. It was rattling badly. I thought it was open, but it just rattled….for the next 300 miles. Also, the paperwork I received said the truck had ½ tank of gas. It only had 3/8, but I was in a hurry and just moved forward. I did not check the odometer. Shortly after I hit the interstate, my ABS and Brake Fault lights started coming on and off. Occasionally it would just come on for a flash and then go off. As long as it went back off, I didn’t worry about it. Eventually, the ABS light came on permanently. Of course, all this happened after the truck was loaded and I was on the road. There was no way I was going back to the UHaul dealer. The rest of the trip was without incident until I turned the truck in. I filled the tank to ½, even though it really only had 3/8 when I picked it up. That’s an extra $20 I had to pay. Then the UHaul attendant said I had driven an extra 75 miles. Remember the odometer I didn’t check when I picked up the truck? Wham! They got me. I checked every mile of my trip on Google Earth. There is no way drove 385 miles. I didn’t have a leg to stand on, so I paid that extra also. Somewhere along the way, someone must have used that truck, burned the 1/8 tank of gas and put an extra 75 miles on the odometer before I rented it. The numbers work. In summary, I have another moving load in December. I will be looking for someone other than UHaul and I DEFINITLY WILL NOT go back to the place in Marshall, Texas. Oh yes, the ramp jumped off track and got jammed. My friend almost broke her foot kicking it back on track.
