There was broken glass in the trailer, I could not pick the trailer up on the day I needed it until 3:30... and when I went the next day the truck I wanted to rent was unavailable. They only good news was they did upgrade me to a larger truck at no extra cost.

I live in anderson, but this is the 2nd time i have rented equipment from this location. always have what i need there. Its a shame you can't get this good of service at home.Good job. Thanks.

My comments are with regards to the initial rental experience... I booked the truck and was told that I could pick it up Saturday morning, and drop it off anytime Sunday as they would be closed. Whn I never received my e-mail confirmation, I called uhaul at 5:00 the night before. I was told the I could pick it up at 12 the next day and have it back by 3?? It went from 2 days to 3 hours?
I told her that there was no way that could move a house in 3 hours?? She asked me if I wanted it or not, and that I could pick it up that night before 8 if I wanted (which didn't really help, as I didn't have any help scheduled until the next morning). The people at this particular location were very helpful and friendly, but I was not satisfied with my overall experience with Uhaul. I will be moving again in July to the new home, and may need to seek other means of transportation.

Truck reaked of cigarette smoke. But, hey, it's a rental. Also, I used the packing blankets in the back of the truck. The packing list said there were 6 blankets in the container but there were only 4. I hadn't planned to use them but I ran out of my own.

Truck had some problems with shifting and was very poor on gas compared to others I have rented from the same location. This is FYI. Overall satisfied with my experience at this location.

The truck i rented was not cleaned inside and they did not perform a damage assessment walk with me but that was really the only negatives with my recent experience.

When I droped off the Trailier I notice that the hitch ball had come loose. I was lucky. I purchased a ball and mounting bar and the ball was not tighten up. It looked ok but sure could have caused an accident.

I reserved a 10 foot truck, in advance, and called to confirm--all prior to my pick up date. Of course, when I arrived, I was "upgraded" to a 14 foot truck. It sounds like this happens often, and I understand that this is a busy time of year. However, it was never communicated to me that the size of the truck had been changed, nor do I consider navigating a larger truck and therefore, paying more for gas a convenience. The employees were friendly enough, but I did not receive what I requested and do feel I paid much more than I should have.
And while I suppose extra fees are to be expected, I did not expect to pay as much as I did after all was said and done. More than anything, I just feel ripped off, and this is not so much the fault of the local employees, but more so the larger company itself.

I ordered the truck and moving pads a month ahead. I ordered 60 moving pads but they only had 21 available. The computer system said they had 60, but it must have been counting the wrapped pads in all the trucks. I went to pick up on a Friday afternoon and there was one person working and about 5 or 6 people milling around waiting for service. The one person working was trying very hard, but he was just one person and could not do all the equipment rentals and run the store all by himself. There was also a couple waiting on him to complete some kind of repair on their vehicle. If I could avoid it, I would not use this U-Haul location again.

I was not shown how to use the equipment; the guy just said when the truck was brought to the front of the store, "Here it is, you're good to go." It rained the evening when I got the truck, and water leaked all over our contents in the "Mom's closet" on the truck.

I didn't understand why there was a $5 environmental fee charged to someone renting just a 5' x 8' pull behind trailer. I associate "environmental" with exhaust fumes emitting in the air; I don't believe the use of this trailer would cause my vehicle to emit more or less than it does with or without a trailer that size and there isn't any from the trailer. What exactly does that $5 fee mean?
