This was an outrageously bad experience. After the main call center confirmed it 3 times including 2 days before the rental that my 26 foot truck was ready they only had a 20 foot truck. The manager said it happens often and their 26 foot truck has been out of service for months. He's even been swung at twice. This meant I couldn't fit all my stuff in the truck and had to pay 3 extra hours of movers' time and still didn't get it all done. This cost me an extra $300 in moving and I had to spend an extra 75 minutes unloading alone since the movers stayed way belong their committed time. The manager helped me save the max he could which was about 25%. I'll have to rent another truck to move the last bit of items while up against a severe time constraint. It's clearly the case that UHaul is intentionally confirming the wrong type of truck on a consistent basis since it's not the big of a loss and they get something instead of losing to a reputable company. I'm going to start a campaign on social media to expose this extremely poor behavior!

This pickup location was fine however the experience overall was not as satisfactory. I reserved a 5 x 8 trailer for sat 8/22 at West Roxbury, MA location as it is closest to my home. Upon arrival i was told there were no 5 x 8--only 4 x 8. Took one as that was all available--lights didn't work-had to unhitch. then nothing left at site. Had to go to Natick site where only one available was 6 x 12. Bigger than needed-especially since we were navigating in NYC and getting trailer took way longer than expected or needed!!

This was not the location I reserved. I spoke to a customer service person who you made my reservation and she confirmed that the truck I want was at the location I requested. Then they changed it. The location I ended up using was efficient and friendly but 15 miles from where I wanted to be so my expenses where higher for milage. Picking up and returning was time consuming.

staff did not log in trailer when dropped off on 8/21 before 1pm, and logged in the next day, and charged me for it. they are working on refunding my $ for the overcharge. Not completed yet

Reserved a 10 ft truck. Reservation was confirmed. When I picked up, all that was avail was a 15 ft truck. A big difference in scale. We had aaa map out the directions and one bridge would not allow a 15 truck across but would have the 10 ft. We were NOT amused.

I Inadvertently locked keys in the van, because they were in the ignition turned off when I shut the driver's side door, had no clue the two doors to the secured front cab were locked. When I returned the rental and told the staff at U Haul , they informed me that I was the 6th renter who reporting this type of incident in he past month and that inadvertent locking of the keys in the van t was peculiar to the make / model of the Ford van, such as the one I rented which now records 3803 miles when I dropped it off, licensed in the state of Arizona, so nearly brand new. That mishap cost me almost an hour of delay as we attempted to open the front doors with an implement inserted i through the holes in the grid of the steel reinforced enclosure of the front cab. Either U haul should fix this problem with Ford or warn renters in advance that this could happen. I was somewhat fortunate that my keys locked in the ignition experience occurred at a warehouse, with various implements to open the locked doors. What if the renter was,like me, a woman, who was traveling alone at night, in a rural or unsafe area area and inadvertently locked herself outside of the van ,with her belongings, including cell phone inside but unable to access them? Perish the thought! Customers must be forewarned by staff, at minimum and the vehicles should have appropriate warning signs prominently posted. This is not technology that is appropriate to to 2015 vehicles. My 2001 SUV technology assure I will NEVER lock my keys in the car.U Haul is obliged to guarantee no less to customers who rent their vehicles.

The drop-box for the keys was broken and there was no help-line number. another customer and me both left the keys in the unlocked box, and hopeful that it would be safe.It was, but us trying to figure out what to do was a little waste of time and energy

Communication is lacking. Got to my drop-off. $323.00 please. No way. Should have handled at pick-up. Paid before I left. Difference was agreed at departure. Arrival destination knew nothing about changes made at departure. Lucky I know people at drop off. Could have gotten ugly.

This was the second time I used this location in a month and this experience was worse (by far) than the last, but both weren't great. This recent visit took me over 1.5 hrs before I was able to get the trailer I reserved online although not the enclosed trailer I had reserved. In brief it went like this: 1) employee opens 5 min late looking like she just rolled out of bed wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants with cat hair all over her. 2) there is a tractor trailer delivering something or other that has blocked in the majority of trucks/trailers, he cannot back up b/c he wasn't comfortable doing so and wasn't leaving until someone at the store took delivery of his shipment. 3) female employee gets really aggregated and starts trying to move vans around the truck and begins yelling in the back of the store. 4) once it's my turn at the register she processes my trailer reservation then makes me wait another 20 min while she attends to other customers. 5) trailer hitch installation technician Chris is awesome (cheerful, well kept appearance and eager to help) and needs to have the tractor trailer move to access the 6x12 trailer for me. 6) once Chris hitches the trailer to my truck the female counter employee comes out to inform him that I cannot have that trailer b/c it is going on a one way trip 7) Chris gets me squared away with a second trailer after needing to move two more vans, but when we performed the safety check, the brake lights didn't work on the trailer. 8) Chris informs the female employee who comes out in a mild fit b/c she doesn't have a third enclosed 6x12 trailer. Now I'm only guessing, but I think she would have informed me that I was going to be out of luck and need to go to a different store in search of the trailer. 9)because it wasn't supposed to rain I suggested taking a a 6x12 open trailer which she rented to me for $10 although after 1.5hrs of incompetence I probably should have been offered it no charge. 10) Chris gets me squared away and I'm on my way. 11) unfortunately b/c I'm 1.5hrs late I was unable to complete my class project and needed to bring it home unassembled and need to wrestle assembling a 10' workbench with a 200lb top on my own instead of with the assistance of my 12 classmates. 12) I returned the trailer which went well with no problems or delays. Because of this experience I don't know if I would ever use this location or Uhaul again. I don't know what's going on with this location, but I would seriously suggest a corporate mystery customer visit a few times early in the morning. On my previous visit the guy at the counter was nice, but also overwhelmed by something; perhaps these folks can't function at 7am? I would recommend a store manager seeks out Chris and moves him to a more visible role because he's the type of employee you put the effort into training.
