Your central compute \ reservation system is very slow. Processing each customer takes a long time, most of which has everyone standing around waiting for the computer to load the next page or generate a receipt to print.

I reserved a van for 24hrs on uhaul.com and when I went to pick up the van I was told that I could only have it for 4 hrs. The reps said that I was supposed to speak with a representative in person after reserving online in order to confirm the 24 hour reservation because the online reservation is not connected to their system (whatever that means); however, I was not told on my online reservation to call ahead. They also said reserving a vehicle doesn't guarantee that they will have one available for the date/time of reservation. Then, what's the point of reserving ahead of time? The reps also had an unwarranted sassy attitude. For my future moves I am going to use another company and am more than willing to spend more for better service.

At pick up in the morning, the Manager was rude. Also, the Desk clerks cursed at each other while serving customers. My reservation was not as I made it online. I had a 24 hour rental for a 10' truck, of which the length was guaranteed. They initially tried to put in a 15' truck and make me return it at 3pm on the same day. There was a lot of confusion as the desk clerk didnt seem trained on the computer reservation management system, and then he blamed the lack of honoring my reservation on "Traffic", which seemed to be the corporate/national online reservation system. He basically said that the system didn't align with what happens in the stores. That inspired a lot faith in me as a customer. I normally rent from Penske, and I was reminded again why I do during my rental experience yesterday. However, the guy that checked me in when I returned the truck was friendly, courteous, prompt and professional.

I called the phone number listed for the New Haven store to ask if I was able to leave my car there during my 4 hr rental. The woman quickley told me it was no problem and there was space to leave my vehicle. Upon arrival however I was told that was not true and my phone call had gone to some central number and they don't know what they are talking about. I assumed when calling a local number I would get someone at that location that would give me correct information. I was forced to drive down the street, leave my car in a public parking lot and walk back. Had I been given the correct information I would have gotten a ride. It is unacceptable to be given such misinformation without even a hesitation as to whether it is true or not.

Roger and I apologize for not knowing the new employees name were a pleasure to work with. They were accommodating and very kind. I really appreciate their help. I was looking forward to them on my return but their shift was over. On my return the employee that took care of the closing was also very kind and helpful. Great staff at this location.

The clerks in the New Haven location did not set me a drop off location. They told me I needed to drop off my truck in Brooklyn which is an hour drive from my destination location. So I called UHAUL immediately after I purchased my truck to set a drop off location and I was repeatedly hung up on or transferred to an automated voice line. I decided I would just drop it off at a nearby location. On my arrival to Stony Brook in Long Island New York, I could not call the UHAUL hotline nor could I reach the clerk at a nearby location because it was a Sunday. Two days after I dropped off my truck I was charged a "wrong destination fee" of $11.00 but I was never even given a set drop off destination. I am very perturbed with this service and will spread the word about my difficulties with UHAUL, I hope to not be using your services again.

Check-in and the van itself were great. Unfortunately the return staff were not honest. I carefully returned the van with the same amount of fuel it originally had, but nevertheless received a bill for an extra $35. Too bad - what could have been a great experience was marred by a staff member's dishonesty. I won't be back to this branch.
