Uhaul is great but... The $30 threat for under filling the tank is simply not ethical. I can accept having to pay more for the gas you must replace. But there is no justification for a punitive fine. It makes me feel your company is actually attempting to make us do what I in fact did... I calcated the gas needed and added a gallon. It was "insurance" since I decided it was better to spend an extra $4 than risk the $30. I feel this is simply a way to cheat us and will look into other options next time. If you do continue this practice the ethical thing to do is to create fuel gauges that give exact measurements. Further, your gauges are circular while the guides are linear. If we must be exact, the measuring devices you provide must also be exact.

The U-Haul itself was fine but the people at the counters are less than intelligent. I made a reservation and so I thought it would be a relatively quick process to get my car. Instead, I waited nearly 45 minutes because the one man at the counter was so unbelievably slow and was shooting the breeze with the customer ahead of me. At the same time, the other man that works at the location just kept walking in and out seemingly without a care. The man at the counter was very nice and thorough, but incredibly slow and not particularly bright.

This location was known to be terrible 15-20 years ago. A new manager came in 10 or so(?) years ago and really turned it around for a while. Sadly, this location seems to be slipping again on the customer service front. I encountered rude staff who struggle to maintain the process of renting trucks over my past 2 visits. There was a hand written sign (difficult to read) on the front door to greet you. It said something about parking cars in the business next door. When I made my way to the front of the line the staff person asked where I parked. He refused to work with me until I left, moved the car, and returned to get back in line. He then walked away. I complied and returned only to stand in line again to find "online check in" makes the check in process longer not shorter. The attitude of the staff seems to transcend simply being unhappy with their jobs, and is approaching a dislike of the customers. I will not be returning to this location until I hear positive changes have occurred again.

Horrible experience from the Truck mechanical maintenance, to equipment malfunction and to top it off the manager Thomas Barrett was not customer friendly. He did not assist in soothing my anxiety as to all the horrible things that went from from the minute I rented the truck until he actually hightened in with his rude nonchalant demeanor. Never Again will I rent from this location nor will I rent Uhaul.

The male employee that was at this site when we picked up the truck (Whalley Ave New Haven, 11 am Saturday, 9.13) was extremely unpleasant to me and another party. When we asked him to fill a tire with air (dashboard indicated low tire pressure) he initially declined to do it, then when asked again, threw down what was in his hands and filled up the tire, clearly irritated. Your rates are too high -- the rental fee plus 99 cents/mile is exorbitant.

I was told the van had a full tank of gas. When I received the van it was 3/4. Unfortunately I did not inform the store employees. When I returned the van I returned with the gas level back to 3/4. However your employees insisted I fill it up to full even though it was not given to me this way. This cost me an extra $20 in gas. It cost me a total of $35 dollars to fill up the tank of gas even though I only drove the van 22 miles. Hopefully I will never be in a position where I need to use your service again after this experience.

problem after problem !!! changed pickup location and truck size. was over charged mileage by 200 miles and traveled only 50 !!! gas guage would not respond when filling up so over filled and am fighting for reimbursement. AND...... while out with my rental someone backed another truck into my car parked in a jacent lot. the truck was still in/against my car when I returned my rental. I want gas and tax reimbursements and my car fixed !!!!! and hourly pay for all of the hours I have spent on these issues uhaul caused !!!!

Employees need extensive training in installation of equipment and customer service. We were instructed to bring the 26’ truck back after it was loaded to have a trained U-Haul employee install the car dolly. We were told that it would be best to have U-Haul do the connection. When we arrive back that day had to wait 30 minutes to find out the employee DID NOT have any training or knowledge of how to install the car dolly. My husband had to do it himself. The employee DID NOT know how to install it. So I ask where the trained employee is. Why did we have to go back there? Then, another VERY RUDE employee comes over after waiting for 30 minutes, to tell us we have to move the 26' truck we rented so he could get another truck out to give to another customer. This was while my husband is on back on the ground connecting the dolly to the truck. We did not move until it was connected. I asked this employee to help his fellow worker so we would get out of there faster, and was told he was not trained! Also the truck must have had a dog in it from the previous renter, and we had to clean the windows. We filed a complaint and the manager returned our money for the dolly rental. Which was the right thing to do since their employees do not know how to install equipment. BEWARE, ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS, INSPECT THE RENTAL BEFORE LEAVING THE LOT!

There was issue locating my reservation during the rental of the vehicle. After several attempts, it was finally worked out. I have no major issue with this location.
