Mr. Rooney is great. He works with you for your particular situation - vans/truck needed. He cares about his customers - especially those of us who are local Pawling people. I have rented 3 times from him during this summer - moving items to a storage unit and moving my son to his new apartment. Will be back again for my next move - for my new apartment. Due to whether conditions (very rainy days last Tuesday and Wednesday at Carleton Place, ON, Canada) and along all the way to Pawling uploading the truck and driving from Canada to USA took more time than expected. I arrived to my storage yesterday late in the afternoon. Management at the Rental drop off location was very excited over the phone for the delay. Rather than to complaint so aloud about a client's involuntary delay, he should try with client's cooperation to find a solution so not to affect the next client. Management at this particular drop off location needs really training in order to be more capable to dealt with involuntary delays, and control his temper. The solution was very easy. I asked the people on charge of unloading the truck, to go as soon as possible to my storage, where the truck was parked, unload and leave the truck free. I returned the truck today at 8.35 am, well in advance to the 10.00 am the drop off time the manager was claiming so impolitely. Another point. Explain to your telephone attendant, who I called about this issue, that although a contract is a contract, unexpected events should be taken into account because any legal contract always have exceptions under the US legal system depending on the circumstances. For your information the truck was parked and contract and truck's key left at the Rental drop off location area and box as at that time the Rental drop off location was still closed. When a customer makes a reservation 1 month in advance they should recieve what was reserved from the location that was requested. I drop 45 miles to a different location to pick up a rental that I did not reserve. Very disappointed with UHaul as a corporation. The counter help employee's where excellent and very understanding of my situation. At both locations the employee's even called corporate to correct my reservation but received no help from UHaul and the traffic department.

i understand that this summer is very bussy, i was picking up the truck and three people were like figting over two trucks,because they had the reservations in the same time,i think one of three maybe who needed the most had to walk away without the truck,was a nice female who was allmost crying,that bad she needed the transportations,and I have found out from the dealer that you dont have enough trucks for the customers. The pick up location went above and beyond to accommodate me after my reservation was completely messed up. I ordered a 17' truck at the beginning of the week for a sat morning 8am pick up. 2 days later I get an email to confirm my pickup which I did. On Friday afternoon less than 24 hours before I am supposed to pick up the truck uhaul calls to say they don't have a truck available and that I now have to travel 2 hours away to get one. It is unacceptable that I was told a truck was available upon my first call AND sent a confirmation that one was available but that was all obviously untrue. These tactics of a location making a reservation and not having a truck are the poorest customer service behaviors. I was completing a long distance one way move to which I had hired laborers already prepaid to which the absence of a truck would have cost me thousands in lost money. When I called the 800 # back furious about the absence of a truck and telling them that relocating my reservation from new Milford ct to Jefferson valley NY was not a suitable option due to the distance I would travel I was told by the operator that she could give me a number to call as her system can only look up CT locations. I said you just told me I have to go to Jefferson Valley NY, that doesn't make sense and after a moment it was like a lightbulb went off, "oh yeah". Not only am I furious with the last minute changes for a major move but then this operator does not realize her resources to fully assist me. She looked through the system and found a suitable alternative location but I had to rent a SMALLER truck AND pick up 2 hours later than my plans. Since picking up 2 hours later would cost me approx 1 1/2 hours in lost wages to my hired laborers I called the new pickup location to see if anything could be done. The ONLY matter during this whole process that was positive was the owner of the new pickup location agreed to come in early and allow me to pick up the truck only 1 hour after my original plans. I will NEVER rent from uhaul again, it is obvious that they suck you in to commit to renting from their company and then they scramble last minute to try to accommodate you. Practices that are rooted solely in commission and money and certainly without regard to customer service. Thank you Uhaul for making a stressful move even more stressful, I'm glad I paid you money to give me additional grief. If these are your practices I suggest you train your customer service reps to handle unhappy people because when I called in very unhappy your customer service reps were not nice, one was downright rude to the point I had to hang up and call back for another rep. If you treat people this way and stress us out when our plans our down to the wire your customer service reps should have impeccable customer service, be trained in the ability to calm a customer down and efficiently find an acceptable solution. My experience was horrible! Oh and I forgot to mention, the uhaul system had
