I rented a utility dolly, however when we got to the apartment to move, the dolly was not in the van. I called and had them put a note on the account saying that we would not be charged. when I received the receipt by email the next day, we had been charged. When I called, the customer representative in Richmond said that they could not help me but they could transfer me to a customer service representative. I was transferred, the call was dropped halfway through my second explanation of the incident. I was not called back. I had to call back a second time, be transferred again, then in total, I had explained the situation 4 times. After all that, I was told that the claim had been filed and it would take several days to get the charge back. I do not see why 1) we were charged in the first place and 2) why the very first representative could not simply charge back the seven dollars. I feel like U-haul has 4 people doing the job of 1, and that this type of customer service where you make me explain it 4 times and then don't immediately give me the money back is designed to frustrate the customer into not caring enough about the $7. Well, I stuck with it, despite it being a waste of time for me AND your employees. And now I have to wait and see if the money actually comes back. If not, and I have to call and explain this again, I will be outrageously angry. Please do not frustrate me with another explanation of your policies. A simple apology, and a WRITTEN guarantee that the money will be returned to me will do, as I requested that and never received that this morning. Better yet, just give me the money and send me a new receipt. Thank you.

Was disappointed that the closer Berkeley branch of U-Haul did not have the size truck that was required for the move. The Richmond branch staff was polite and professional. But the furniture dolly I had reserved was not available and added to the time required for the move.

U-Haul Richmond charge me $17.50 equivalent to 6 gallons of gas for 19 miles travel which is about 3 miles per gallon of fuel consumption. What kind of Truck is that? Drinking gas fuel.

Three Uhaul employees were standing outside just looking at us and our truck while my boyfriend and I inspected the vehicle. The vehicle had cigarette butts in the bed and the cabin was cluttered. During our inspection, they allowed five strangers stand to the side asking us repeatedly if we needed help moving. In the fluster, we almost left the property without noticing that the side mirror was broken.

You're refund policy is terrible. I've been waiting since 11/28/14 for my money to show up in my account and as of 12/8/14 it's not there. I was deducted $155 which should be refunded. I've your the location and your customer service and they said it takes10 business days. I think this is ridiculous and unfair to your customers. Esther Polk

You guys can make sure that when you authorize the okay to drop a truck off at you guys 24 hour drop off that you actually type it in your records and that you take the correct procedures to get the truck .. You guys had me drop the truck off at your 24hour place then called me several days later saying can I return the truck straight foolishness then you guys charged me without notice. In the end all my money was put back but it's just the fact you guys didn't take the proper steps &falsely accused me off stealing a truck that I dropped off 5-10 minutes prior to drop off time

I had been told that I would get 50 free miles because you did not have truck at the location that I initially rented from and I had to go to this location. I told the guy that checked me out that I had the 50 free miles. When I returned the truck that evening the woman that checked me back in said that there was no record of it and she would not give me the agreed upon 50 free miles. I was delayed for 45 minutes trying to get this resolved with no satisfaction. I had to call the following day to customer service and they said they would check into it. Finally a few days later, I received a call from you a woman and she said that you would credit my account for the 50 free miles. I asked for a confirmation email and I still have not received anything 2 days later. This experience was awful and makes me very upset.

Mileage limitation is why I'll not rent from you again. I've no control over detours, missed turns and there is not a gps. My worst renting experience. There has got to be a better firm to rent from than yours. Bill

Very poorly managed; understaffed; disorganized and crowded lot; forklift crashed into customer's car before my very eyes; manager literally told me he was doing me a favor by renting me equipment. I had u boxes shipped from Minneapolis and I don't understand why they were sent to this location of all places in the east bay. I was planning to store some items for the remainder of my 30 day rental period upon arrival but after seeing the storage and management conditions I felt it was unwise to do so. Basically this was your everyday bad uhaul experience. Most of the things that could have gone wrong did (did I mention I waited at the office for an hour and a half while the computer system was down?). Don't know what more to say; pretty sure you know that uhaul operates some terribly managed locations and this is definitely one of them. The bright side is some of the regular staff are hard working, courteous and helpful. I felt bad watching them have to deal with so many issues without clear guidance, policies, or management that would make their lives and the lives of their customers less stressful.

At 9:00 am on Saturday, there was a line out the door, only one attendant, and service was very slow. I had reserved a dozen furniture pads in advance; none were available when I arrived on time to pick up the truck. NOT acceptable!

Office was cramped and not arranged for best efficiency. Staff could hardly move behind counter between registers. Parking lot was crowded, hard to enter or move to check truck in. Staff were helpful, but deserve better facility.
