Where as my service was great, I'm still waiting for my credit card to be reimbursed for the overage between the initial charge and what I actually used. I filled the tanks beyond my use, cleaned the vans from any debris from my moving furniture and had no damage or accidents. I'm still after over a month waiting.

My experience here was last fall, but I found this link and feel I need to respond. I reserved a trailer for my car, and was never told I needed the electrical connection to attach it to my car. When I got to the place, the guy working there tried for at least THREE HOURS to add this to my car. He treated me with quite an attitude - uncalled for, since this was not my fault. How was I to know I needed this if nobody from UHaul told me? He didn't say a word to us for all of that time, and closed himself into an area to try to accomplish his task. Finally he called someone from another UHaul. This person came over and fixed it in about 25 minutes. It was an awful day for us - we were moving and the people who were waiting to help us had to wait the 4 hours as well. In the end, we were told we didn't have to pay since it was such an inconvenience. Please! Tell people what is needed in advance! Of course I would have had the electrical added to my car!!! We waited around for FOUR HOURS!!!!

The employees I interacted with were courteous and professional, however, my overall experience was unsatisfactory for the following reason: as I was shopping around, I called multiple times with questions. I had to rent a truck to transport items for an event. The reservation system did not allow me to pick up any later than 6 PM. I needed the truck for an event that ended at 6 PM the following day. The folks I spoke with on the phone and the person who checked the truck out for me all said that it was up to managerial discretion if I could be charged for only 1 day when I returned the truck, since I would be returning after 25, 26 hours at the most. While this was certainly not a guarantee, I felt pretty well assured that the person staffing the desk when I returned would be a reasonable human being and exercise a reasonable amount of managerial discretion. First off, I arrived for my truck pickup at 5:55 PM for a 6:00 PM pickup. While the staff person was rushing and was courteous, I did not leave the place until 6:45 PM. The next day when my event ended I rushed around like a mad person to return my event items and get back as soon as possible. I arrived back at the store at 7:06 PM. The employee checked us in on his phone and charged us for the 2 days w/o a word. When I inquired about this, he told me to go inside and talk to the manager. I explained to the manager that, despite the fact that their system said I picked up the truck at 6:09 PM the day before, we were waiting around for over 45 minutes. She was not swayed. I explained that we were only about 20 minutes over 24 hours from when we actually left. She didn't care. She just kept saying, "The system automatically charges you for 2 days when you go over 24 hours." I explained that I understood that but that multiple other employees told me their manager had the discretion to charge us for only 1 day. She refused to even acknowledge that she had that ability and just kept repeating the same, robotic line with an insincere apology. I'm really upset with this response. I get that I had the truck for more than 24 hours. But how about a little human decency? How about a more forgiving system? How about making up for the fact that I had to wait 45 minutes to check my truck out when I had a scheduled pickup time? Nothing. Will not use this location again. Very disappointed.

The clerk checking us in was rude. The uhaul had not been cleaned prior to our usage and therefore several of my items were dirty after the move. The young man that checked us back in during our return was fantastic though. He did a quick job and was very polite. It was nice to deal with him as opposed to the oman that checked us in and was still there when we were returning the haul.

More attention to detail and direction with the customer. I was given a pack of papers and told to walk around the vehicle marking any dents or scratches with D or S respectively that did not have an X sticker on them. There were a ton, and I had to use my best judgement. The woman at the desk who directed me had pulled the truck out already before giving me the papers, and stayed inside while I did a walk-around. On returning the vehicle, I was charged for a "flat" tire (not noticably flat to me, a the man kicked it and said it was flat). There was no direction to examine the tires or how to examine them for the damage inspection, and I was charged for the tire. There was also no notation on the back of the damage pamphlet about the tires either. I did not experience any change in how the truck drove, or hit anything on my two trips between homes. I feel ripped off, like it's a scheme of poor/not enough information to extort more money from customers.

The system was majorly buggy to the point that it took nearly an hour to check in. I would have been really upset if it weren't for the professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness of the staff. The level of customer service they provided was so high I really can't complain.

Steven was ecvellent. Personable, friendly, very efficient and very polite. The right mirror on the truck kept going outward which is dangerous becsuse I could not see into the right lsane behind me. I fixed it to go further inward but it popped back outward almost immediately upon moving the 17 ft. truck. I spoke with 4 different people during my rental and all 4 were exceptionally friendly and very polite!!!

I would like take this opportunity to specifically thank your employee Christopher T. who was so instrumental on the morning of August 27th, that he single handedly earned credit for turning our move into a positive experience. Early that morning I spoke to another rental service to re-confirm that our vehicle was ready for pick up and was told to come in. Upon arriving at that competitor's location nearby to pick up our reserved moving truck, we quickly realized there was no truck reserved under our name despite our confirmation, nor was there a truck of the proper size even on the property. With tears in my mother's eyes as the future driver of a tremendous moving truck rather than the small box truck ordered, I quickly got myself to U-Haul down the road. Christopher T. clearly stopped what he was in the midst of doing to make me a priority and he quickly sprang into action to solve the problem and assist us with what was needed. The inventory showed just 1 available truck of our requested size and he secured it, showed us how to operate it so there was a comfort level and even helped us get to a price more aligned with our previous reservation. He went above and beyond, before waving goodbye and getting back to his original activity that I had interrupted earlier. Not only were we grateful of U-Haul's selection and availability, but it was really Christopher who turned a dreadful experience into a positive one that worked out perfectly. Based on this, we already shared this story and recommended you to others in the area also preparing to move during the college season. And also based on this we were sure to name U-Haul as the vendor of choice when providing feedback to the competitor down the road. Thank you U-Haul, and Christoper T. at the Lake Avenue location.

A reservation was made 2weeks ahead of time 1 day before pickup I was told no trucks were available until later in the day farther away from my pickup point. 3 phone calls later got me a smaller truck farther away. Why did I go on line to reserve it???

I think it is important that there be a second person helping at the Lake Ave U-Haul. There was only one person working on Saturday and he was busting his tail to serve everyone that was coming in at a very rapid pace. He did a great job, but really - UHaul should hire a second person to help him at all times. It was a bit better when I returned the U-Haul on Sunday as there was a second person there - but not sure if that was typical for that second person to be there. Please ask the gentleman working at the Lake Ave Uhaul what help he needs. We will go back to that UHaul since he clearly understands what needs to be done and how to do it fast and efficiently.
