I called the North Lindbergh location on Friday 4/18/2014 to rent a truck. No one answered so I was directed to customer service. The helpful woman directed me to the nearest location that offered the size vehicle I was in need of due to the Lindbergh location not having any available. The "gentleman" from whom we rented the vehicle quoted me a deposit price of $120 for my two day rental. This was over the phone @ 8:57a.m. on Friday 4/18. When I arrived at about 3:30 that afternoon, he advised me the actual deposit price was $198.xx I asked why it changed from the quote he gave me that morning and he advised he never quoted me and that I should have known because it was a 2 day rental everything would be double. I called the North Lindbergh location and asked if this was normal. I s/w Andy (who is absolutely amazing.) He advised that Falzone is an independent dealer but that didn't seem right. He tried calling Frank but he wouldn't answer the phone. We left with the truck after putting down $143. On Sunday we realized we would need the vehicle longer but he was closed and I couldn't call. On Monday morning I woke up to a message from him saying that if I didn't return the truck within an hour he would report it as stolen. I called him right away and asked if I could keep the vehicle until 3:30. He advised me it must be back by 3pm or again he would report it as stolen and that I was over my deposit. He was very adament and I felt threatened. I called Andy back and he gave me Matt Kolher's phone number and I advised him of the situation. He stated that I could return the truck back at the Lindbergh location and he would handle Falzone. In the meantime I received over five calls from Falzone. I finally answered and advised him that I was working with Matt and I would not be talking with him any more. He was very irate and asked why I would say he threatened me with reporting the vehicle as stolen ( which I took as he was going to call the police) after all he did for me on Friday. I reminded him of the deposit situation and he stated he never quoted me and I should have known everything would be doubled. I'm still not sure how $198 is double $120. If it wasn't for Matt and Andy, I would NEVER use UHAUL again. They were extremely helpful, concerned, empathetic, and everything else I needed to calm me down through this very difficult situation. I will tell everyone I know to NEVER use that location or deal with that man. I've talked to other people, not even connected to UHAUL, and apparently he's well known in my area. I would never want to take away a persons livelyhood but this man is a very poor representitive for your company and I hope that I was the last customer that he is allowed to treat this way.
The customer service was horrible and I'm in the process of sending an email to corporate. Also, I was harrassed, yelled at and I was not explained regarding the price. An extra $20 was taken off my card 30 minutes after I left. The rep threatened to call the police on me. I was dissatified and I will be sending in an complaint. Thank you
