I would have liked to have been warned upon booking the truck for 2pm pickup that we wouldn't have it for the full 4 hours because the store closed at 5pm on Sundays... That was an unpleasant surprise, especially as the SF Marathon massively delayed our mover helpers so we ran over an hour behind schedule. Jim was really helpful when I called about the issue, though, so it turned out okay. I still think I'll probably go with the Brannan location next time because of the size of the lot and ease of transaction, but all's well that ends well.

The truck seemed well maintained enough, but not clean. When i picked up the truck, the hand truck and the furniture dolly that were reserved were not available,so we had to settle for one appliance dolly only. When i picked up the truck, i asked the staff person what i needed to do to extend the reservation. She gave me no option and just said it "had to be back". I asked her if there was a charge for being late she responded by saying, "they probably wouldn't charge you but it just needs to be back." As we started loading the truck, we realized we could not reasonably finish in time so called the location again 3hours ahead of our return time and they again gave us no option, but said they needed to have the truck back because someone had reserv ed it. We cut our moving time short to get the truck back, only to see two others of the same sized truck sitting there unused. This air of inflexibilty caused us to have to spend an extra 4 hours to move the rest on our own. I know we are partly responsible for underestimating thethe time we needed the truck; however, I'm sure it would be a pretty safe bet to say we aren't the first, or the last. What would have been your response if there was an accident on the highway that delayed us, or something else beyond our control?

The truck had 7 or 8 ripped up, used boxes and other garbage (clothing, food boxes) left in the back which we had to move/dispose of before packing. Very disappointing.

Vehiclea dirty. Incorrect fuel measurement provided at start of rental. Hire for 12 hours but no indication that the location closed at 7pm so 12 hours wasn't even possible.

Very disappointed that the bed of the pick up I rented had oil all over it - I was moving furniture. I can understand general debris but the oil should have been cleaned.

I have never rented a U-Haul and I was a little nervous since I was moving on my own. The people here are warm and helpful. They were very nice and made me feel informed and taken care of. We rented a GMC moving van. It was a 2014 model and was nice and new, it performed well for the task we wanted it for. The van was dirty outside and in. This wouldnt prevent us from hiring from the location again though. Staff were very friendly.

The service was great, the two people who helped us were very friendly and helpful and competent. The vehicle was pretty dirty outside and inside and I thought I'd let you know about that. It actually did not bother me, and in the interest of saving water in California right now that might be a good thing, to not wash them all the time. However if that's the case, then I would at least not ask customers to confirm on the sheet that the vehicle was clean when we picked it up. Overall I was satisfied and I will rent from here again.

The 8' truck I was given was extremely dirty. There was dried mud inside the cabin, and the exterior was very dirty.

Customer service was great, except that I waited in an empty store for 5 minutes looking for an associate. Parking was difficult due to the limited parking spaces not clearly outlined (all available spaces looked handicapped, but I was later told I could park in them and the handicap pictures were old) Vehicle was very dirty on the outside and small pieces of trash in the inside.

cab and rear cargo area had not been cleaned out before I picked up the vehicle, I swept the cargo area myself and expect to receive my $25 cleaning fee.

I phoned customer service to ask about extending my reservation and was routed out of state to a call center that was pretty useless. The first CSR insisted she had to charge my card on the spot then she couldn't get the system to accept payment--- kept me on the phone for almost 20 minutes and directed me to another rep who was also no help. All of this while I was racing against time and needing to actually drive my U-Haul rental to get everything done in time. The staff at the Valencia location were awesome, but the call center staff were awful. Did not know what they were doing. Terrible customer service experience.

My reservation was cancelled, without notice, because I was late for pick-up. There was no notification of this policy on the website or in store and I didn't receive a phone call notification. Once a truck was located and a new reservation made, the truck I was given was dirty and full of cigarette butts. Overall, awful experience.

I still do not know whether the truck is a commercial vehicle that can be parked at a metered commercial spot. U-haul could make that information available somewhere because even the clerk did not know the answer to that question.

I was given a truck that was obviously very poorly maintained as the check engine light came on and the brakes went out on the way to my destination. UHaul was then very unresponsive and was unable to get the situation fixed in a timely manner. I was on the phone and waiting for them for over 7 hours total. I was told that the tow truck driver could take me back to San Francisco, however he did not arrive until 10:30pm (about 7 hours after I first called UHaul) and when he arrived he said he was unable to fit the UHaul on his truck. I was stuck in Morgan Hill overnight and was unable to get back up to SF as originally planned, which made me late for work the following morning. I called UHaul the next day to make sure I was not charged for this horrible experience and they said I wouldn't be. I was then charged $300 (more than I was originally supposed to be charged) and when I called to complain was told that they couldn't do anything about it until they got the truck back from the shop and confirmed that I hadn't broken the truck myself (not sure how I could ruin brakes in the 45 minutes that I was able to drive it). Overall, a terrible experience and I will not be using UHaul again.
