I suggest adding a hinge to the sun visor on the driver's side. It was missing its right hinge. The visor was drooping because of this.

While my experience at this location was totally satisfactory, I had a very difficult time navigating the complicated web of customer service hotlines in order to reserve my UBox. In particular, I called the support line (800-344-2212) twice to schedule my pick-up. One time I had a very pleasant and helpful woman, but the other time I spoke with a woman who sounded like she was half asleep and gave me really useless suggestions (e.g., to call back on Monday when I was picking my box up on Sunday). Just to reiterate: the people physically at this location were very helpful, but the people working off site varied tremendously in terms of how professional and knowledgeable they were.

The Uhaul location on Linwood St. in Somerville is the best one I have ever used, and I have used Uhaul in multiple locations in FL, VA, NJ, NC, over 20 years. The staff were friendly, competent, and helpful. Special thanks to Theresa, who took care of everything I needed, even when things were going wrong. The facility was clean and well-maintained, as was the truck I rented. A perfect Uhaul experience, and an example to be emulated by Uhaul's other locations (I am looking at YOU, Uhaul at 1000 NE 1st Ave, Miami and 1880 West Ave Miami Beach!)

I thought the chart on the receipt noting the amount of gasoline in the tank overestimated how full the tank was when I received the van, but the store was busy and I just wanted to get started, so I didn't go back in. As a result, I probably added much more gas than I used in order to bring the gas gauge up to the mark on the receipt. I put in 2.5 gallons for 12 miles of driving just to speed up the final transaction. Other than my OCD attention to the gas gauge and the chart on the receipt, I was impressed by the overall professionalism of the store.

When returning the van, the UHaul employee was helping another customer with their trailer, and could have told me that I was all set to begin with. This is a small improvement; didn't affect of experience overall though.

Was charged for 2-day move despite dropping off at 9pm same day AND being told that doing so would not incur any addition charges. Corporate customer service was unaware of any company policy regarding charges stemming from after hours drop-off and directed me to submit a review in order to resolve this situation.

Even though I replaced the gas I used on my 14 mile move (using the guide that U-Haul provided), I was still charged $9.50 by the company somehow for gas. I contacted the agent at U-Haul, but she never got back to me. However I disputed the $9.50 charge with Amex and I believe they responded favorably.

This was the best experience I have ever had with any moving company or any service company of any kind. The workers at this location are so friendly and helpful. Moving is a very stressful, but the moment I walked in and was greeted by Thresea all my worries went away. I can not say enough things about the great people working at this location! They are the best! I would absolutely recommend this place to others or use it again.

Pick up mileage on the contract was substantially off (contract listed approx. 500 miles less than on vehicle). Agent made note on paperwork but did not change contract which made drop off more involved than necessary.

I must admit I was a little nervous about reting from this company/location due to the horrible reviews on yelp, but I was pleasantly surprised. Theresa at the desk was very nice and was able to get the paperwork done with no problem at all. Very smooth process! I love the gas gage estimates on how many gallons you should put in the tank to get back to the original amount. If I didn't have that I don't know what I would have done! Drop off was even easier than the pick up, again a very smooth process! The only thing was the price came out to be 20$ more than my rate from the website. However Theresa explained the break down to me when she gave me my estimate. In the end the 20$ extra wasn't really an issue since I had no problem with renting from this company. Overall a great experience and would recomend my friends/family to rent from the this company!

All of the employees we worked with in person at both locations were helpful & pleasant. HOWEVER, we had a horrible experience with the booking manager when trying to sort out a mistake made on our contract re: pick up & drop off. We had a 10' truck booked for two days for an in town move (we were using the truck to transport items we purchased at area antique markets back to our home, we weren't actually moving). Our agreement was to pick up & drop off at the same location (985 Mass Ave) as we don't have a car and live in South Boston. We can walk to/from the Mass Ave location. We got a call at the end of the first day that our drop off location had been moved to Malden, MA - outside of Boston and nowhere near public transportation. This was not acceptable to us for 3 reasons: Our contract was to drop off & pick up at the same location, we didn't have a car to transport us back from Malden and we were paying for mileage on the truck and Malden was way out of the way. The booking manager I was speaking with (Jordon) kept insisting that our contract was for a one way move and refused to let us bring the truck back to Mass Ave., where we picked it up. I didn't have my printed version of the contract with me at the time to have proof that we were meant to drop off at the same location. After much back & forth, he finally switched the drop off location to one in Somerville where we could catch the T home and he credited us the mileage difference between dropping off on Mass Ave and the alternate Somerville location. Once we were able to look at the contract we had, it only showed the address for the Mass Ave location where we picked up - there was no address at all for a drop off location. When we called back with our proof, the scheduler got especially rude & condescending in tone with my husband ("Are you done, sir?") and that was the straw that finally broke the camel's back. The service we received from the telephone booking managers was appalling...and we weren't even asking for any money! But honestly, our time is more valuable than money and we/our time was treated as completely worthless by Jordan and the other weekend telephone operators. All we wanted was to return the truck near our home, as we had originally scheduled. My family has used UHaul for over 20 years, locally and coast to coast, and this experience will really have me thinking twice before I ever use UHaul for anything ever again.

Overall and it was very good. The truck was clean and nice and everything worked well. The only concern I had was, where and when I was going to pick up the truck as this information was not available at the time of reservation. Waiting till 6PM before the day of pickup to find out if I will be able to pickup from my preferred location is unnerving.

I was told that I would be able to have a trailer hitch installed on my car when I picked up the trailed I'd reserved...this was not the case at all. It was a Saturday so the place was overwhelmed and the UHAUL representative did everything he could to get us out of there as quickly as possible (not in a good way) so he wouldn't actually have to deal with finding a constructive solution to the problem. We ended up having to pay 3x the amount we'd anticipated for a 10ft truck instead of the trailer we'd reserved, not to mention we had to drive two cars instead of 1 (2x the gas) to DC. Never again.

Staff was kind, quick, and competent. Equipment was ready and easy to use. Only two points for other renters: location is tricky to find, congrats if you get there in first attempt!; the fuel gauge on the rental contract indicates how many gallons needed to move to the gauge to mid points along the spectrum. Ie: if you pick up the vehicle at half a tank and at the end of your trip you're at quarter a tank, instead of guessing how much to refuel, the diagram tells you need to add 2 gallons of gas. I wish I'd known of this for I over fueled and there's no compensation for this.
