Rented a DC Truck and Auto Transport. Was not given any instruction as to how to load or unload auto from the auto transport nor given any manual. Was told to go online to U-Haul website then YouTube for a video. Now I didn't have a computer nor time to do find one. I was not told initially when I rented that the equipment may not all be at the base pick up point I wanted. I had to travel an hour out of my way to pick up the equipment. U-Haul would not deliver the equipment to the pick up point I wanted and was told they do not deliver equipment nowhere for customers to any pick up location. If I was initially told this when I made the reservation I would have been prepared time wise and for a driver to go pick up the equipment in a timely manner.

The location is great, and the service is great, but the truck we used is in really, really bad condition. We had the same truck 2 weeks ago and I wrote notes on our contract slip to tell them that the truck should be taken out of the fleet. The truck we had to use would barely start, had many alignment and wheel issues and had issues with the fuel gauge staying anywhere near the actual level -- it would fluctuate between the 1/4 and 3/4 full tank lines when the tank was only about 1/2 of the way full. It ended up getting us between the points where we needed it to, but it could have been very difficult if we had to jump start the truck or something worse. The truck has 175,000+ miles on it, so it would either need some new parts or get a totally new engine...or something to be a reasonable option to rent out to future customers.

Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Tow dolly was not functioning properly (tail light not operational), we had to switch out for a recently fixed tow dolly. The receiving U-Haul on Hershberger in Roanoke, VA said that parts needed to be replaced on the unit. A pre-inspection of the tow dolly before pickup would have been convenient, but we were not stressed or upset, U-Haul employee was very helpful in fixing the situation.

I returned the truck at 3:50 p.m.--clearly before the 4 p.m. closing time. The attendant almost checked me out with a charge for the whole weekend (an additional $60), but we caught it before I signed. I just saw my emailed receipt and he recorded the return at 4:01 p.m.--just past closing--which meant that I had to pay a late fee of about $20. It all just seemed to be a little sketchy...

My only issue with the truck was that it was very old and had many difficulties starting/running in general. I was stalled in a gas station for a few minutes after it wouldn't start the first few times turning over the ignition. It ended up working barely, but the truck should probably be retired so that it doesn't cause anyone other future problems, or even worse, strand someone far away from where they need to be.

Very fast service and friendly. One thing I would do is make sure pre-existing damages are marked. One person witnessed some unmarked damages but the person that checked me in wasn't informed and thought that I caused it. Fortunately the original person was still there and came out to verify. Worked out well Thanks

I understand the customer is supposed to clean the truck when it is returned, but when i received the truck reeked of cigarettes. There were also spilled residue in the holder. Other than that it was clean and handled great. I just wasn't pleased that I had to drive 4 hours and smell a strong cigarette odor.

We were over charges. We rented a trailer for 3 hours and were charged 2 days. That is not good customer service. Good thing I kept all my paperwork.
