I contacted the piqua u haul in advance to reserve truck, a 27ft , two days before I was to pick it up, I was called and told it would not be available. In looking for another truck, none that could be found except a 17ft in springfield. Although further away and smaller, since family had arranged jobs and sitters this had to be done this date. We made it work but I have to borrow a pickup to go back to old home to pick up the rest of stuff that wouldn't fit in smaller truck. Your people were very telling me the larger truck could not be found but it left me very stressed out. Thank you for asking, Nancy McIntosh

Customer Service was great and quick. Trucks were available and clean. Everything was explained well. This is one of the best U-Haul places I have ever used. I did have a problem with some water leakage in the grandma's attic area of the truck...granted there was a ton of rain during the time I had the truck...the other similar truck I rented at the same time did not have the water leakage.

I placed my order online for a reservation expecting a pick up and drop off to be where I had placed my order. After contacting customer service when I received my first confirmation we found common ground and the staff assisted me by finding a truck at the location that I needed. I was told by the customer service that pickup was at 9am. Unfortunately I verified the new truck size and pick up location but I didn't check the time on the verification thinking that everything was the same as verified over the phone. It wasn't. I went to the pick up location at 9am and although there appeared to be a truck in the lot that was the same size as my reservation I was told by the store manager that my truck wasn't here yet and that my pick up time was at noon and someone was having to travel to Cincinnati to pick up my reserved truck. I left and returned at quarter to noon. The same truck was in the lot when I went in. The manager said that they still were not back yet. I went in to the store again at noon to get more information. I was told by the manager that the drivers were stuck in traffic due to a bad accident. Finally after waiting for close to thirty minutes past noon, two trucks pulled in at the same time. I immediately went in to the store hoping that one of these vehicles was mine. The manager quickly processed my information. When he went to process my receipt he said he had to get paper he ducked behind a corner and poped right back out telling me that the entire store was out of paper and that he would email me my receipt. He then proceeded to get my truck. When he pulled to the front of the store I was furious. It was the same truck that had sat in the parking lot all morning since before we had got there at 9am. He jumped out of the truck and ran inside before I could say anything. By this point assuming on my behalf was stupid, but I did it one more time. I assumed that the truck was safe to drive and all parts of the vehicle were secured. I was wrong. The first pot hole I hit the hood flipped forward. Both of the latches were undone on the hood and unknown to me the latch for the rear door was also unsecured so that first pot hole you guessed it, it threw open the door and seeing that it had been poring rain all day filled the entire box of the truck with water. We had water all over the floor by the time we got to my home to move and it made an ungodly mess to try and work around and through. Go figure I didn't even get a receipt until after I had returned the vehicle and in this state your receipt for a rental vehicle is the same as a temporary registration. Although there were several attempts along the way with trying to find resolution and I am very forgiving, the lies I was told by the store manager, the lack of proper documents, and the safety hazards that resulted from this company's poor service and failure to do their job sunk their reputation with me for forever. It seemed like the service was a little slow but once you got served, things went pretty well. The young lady who waited on me had some computer problems which meant we had to start the transaction over again which was a little bit annoying. Equipment ran well, I think the price was competitive and will come back.

I rented a truck and car carrier to transport some my deceased mother's property and car back to San Antonio. We were also planning to use the truck to move items to by brothers house. First when I went to the location to pick-up the truck they said I was late picking up the truck and I showed them that I had called and spoke to someone to inform them I would be late 11:00 am. The also said it was a higher rate on Friday, since I did not pick-up the truck on Thursday. Then they said the tire had been vandalized and the truck would not be available until the next day at 10:00 am. After speaking to the scheduling manager the truck was available to pick-up that evening at 6:00pm and the manager was very nice and gave me a military discount for the truck. The problem I had was I only had one day to move furniture out of my deceased mother's home and load keepsake items in the truck with car carrier and travel back to my home in San Antonio, TX. On Sunday while traveling the truck showed 1/4 tank of gas but the truck ran out of gas 100 meters before going over the Mississippi River Bridge. After reporting this to Uhaul Road Side Assistance and spending over an 1-hour on the phone they would not send anyone with gas. I told them I would send them a picture of the broken gas guage showing 1/4 tank. They offered to send someone with gas for $250.00. I explained that it was not my fault and the gas guage was broken. The customer service agent was horrible...Incompetent!! I told her if it wasn't broken when they brought the gas then the truck is broken down!! I asked if there was Military discount and explained that I had a Military ID, she said no and I said thank you for a great Memorial Day present. After 1.5 hours I eventially had to take my car that was being towed off the car carrier and go get gas 25 miles away. This was very dangerous because there wasn't enough birm to be off the 1st lane; we had put the emergency signs, but still scary!!After arriving back to the truck and putting the gas in the truck, the truck started and we drove to the nearest gas station. We had to put the car back on the carrier with no experince in doing this. Later that day we drove through sevral rain storms and the cab started leaking water. We had to take a blanket and towel to soak up the water. This happened again the next day while driving through several rain storms on our way back to San Antonio. I have rented several Uhaul trucks over the years without any incident. This was a nightmare and especially the customer service agent!! I hope

The location has grown a lot over the years and they continue to have only 1 person working in the facility when I arrive to pick up -- the fellow had 4 people in line when I picked up my trailer.. he could not even spend the time to check my lights becuse he had to get back into the office to wait on others. Everytime I rent from this location, they are under staffed and slammed.

Originally rented a 17" from the huber heights location. Arrived there around 10:30 am, and was told they didn't have the truck. They directed us to the Springfield location, saying they had the correct size. Arrived there only to discover we had been lied to, and that they in fact did not have the correct size either. Had to rent the next size up with ran poorly and the door kept jamming and would not close. I will never use u haul again. How can you be open for an hour and a half and not bother to inform us that you do not have the truck in stock? A lot of wasted time and gas.

There were 3 or 4 employes at the store. One Female employee was doing everything - taking info - booking - hooking up while the rest did nothing - I made a comment, she was nice but did not say anything negative. Seems like she should be getting some help instead of everyone standing around. 4 people were in line and took 25 minutes to get waited on. Thanks, Terry McKinney

I was given a 26' truck that had engine problems, the amount of gas that was reflected in the tank was not the actual amount. I ended running out of gas on my return travel and had to put $75.03 in vehicle. I was delayed a day in work, which cost me additional dollars and I was only reimbursed $20.
