I have had very negative experiences every time I go to the U-Haul center on McClintock and the 202 in Tempe, AZ. I have dealt with David Fisher multiple times when renting equipment and he has always been unfriendly and unwilling to help. The first time I rented a truck here about a month ago I asked him to walk me around the truck to look at prior damage and help me get familiarized with the equipment, since I am a young woman who doesn’t normally drive a large loading truck. He replied “No, you don’t need it you have SafeMove.” I felt that this was very poor customer service that when a customer ask for help that an employee wouldn’t be eager to assist and make them feel more comfortable with driving the equipment. I understand that SafeMove covers all damages put on the equipment during the rental, but since I specifically asked him to show me the truck he should have been willing and glad to help me. After returning the truck and getting the online receipt I thought that I didn’t receive my employee discount for this rental or when purchasing boxes so I called back. I spoke to a woman who was very impolite when telling me I did receive the discount and that she put it in herself. I asked for a manager and she insisted that she was a manager however, I know she is not. Just this last week I had to move again and I needed to rent a trailer. I tried to avoid getting the trailer at this location because the times I have gone in there to rent equipment or simply buy supplies employees have made me feel very uncomfortable and been rude. However, this was the only place close to me that had the 6x12 trailer I needed. When arriving there to pick up my trailer, which I had set up online night before, David Fisher was again the employee that I dealt with. Again, he was not welcoming when I was paying for my rental. When asked where I should bring my car to hook the trailer up and he said reverse it. We asked reverse where and he didn’t tell us where. I then asked can you help us hook up the trailer and he said yes and walked outside. He still did not tell us where to reverse the vehicle. We then reversed the vehicle towards where he was standing he hooked it up said "all set" and walked away. I was with three other people who were all astonished at the lack of customer service we received. Having rented U-Haul equipment for many years I have never had such a poor experience. I refuse to go to this center again because I know I will feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Even though I am a U-Haul employee I would not recommend that anyone use this location for their moving needs due to the experiences I have had. However, I have encountered two employees there that have been nice and eager to help. Saul Herrera has always been very outgoing, approachable, and an overall great employee, as has Trevor Jones. Overall, I am very disappointed in the customer service I received at this location and will most definitely be avoiding this center for my future mov

To improve customer service, have all of the equipment rented at one location. We had to pick the truck up at one location and the trailer at another. We reserved the equipment well in advance, not sure why we had to go across town to get all the items.

Mr. Ford was very accommodating and very nice to work with. He heard and saw my frustration after reservation had moved my pickup on the day of pickup to three different locations all 40 mile apart. He went above and beyond without my having to complain or ask- he took care of everything in a patient and understanding manner. Kudos, to Mr. Ford!

The customer service was good, however the truck we received was extremely usafe. The windshield was detached from the truck entirely. We did not notice until we hit a bump in the road and the windshield bounced in its frame. Not good.

gave me the wrong truck for the paper work they gave me. inside windshield dirty hard to see in sun.when I returned truck mileage didn't match what I traveled, paid it anyway, don't feel location was honest.

The woman who helped me with the reservation and the pick up (not sure if it was the same person), was very nice and efficient. The truck, however, was disgusting. It wasn't very clean inside (ex - sticky stuff in cup holders) and it smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. It was so bad I went in and asked for another truck, but was told that the entire paperwork process would have to be redone. I was told they had an odor eliminator that could be sprayed in the truck, so I opted for that route. This was done by spraying some strong smelling liquid onto the steering wheel, all over the driver's seat, and onto the dash and driver door. It was sort of wiped off - so at least it wasn't wet - but whatever this was then left a gross sticky coating on everything it was sprayed onto. I stuck to the seat and it was awful holding the steering wheel. Also the seal around the driver's side doorframe kept coming unattached. I was greatly unpleased with the condition of the vehicle. When I returned the truck, I was glad that Brad (the manager) was willing to do double duty helping me check out while he was also working with another customer. There were several people in line (I had already waited in line once at that point), and I would have been frustrated with having to wait all over again, but he made sure I didn't have to - I appreciated that.

A quick rundown of how the truck works would be very helpful. This was my first time driving anything this big and it was challenging at first. Most of the controls were different and took a while how to figure out what the parking break button does, how to turn lights and AC on. Other than that everything else was very smooth.

The U-Haul truck has a sign posted inside to leave used/unused boxes inside the truck for other people to use. However, you are charged a $25.00 dollars for the truck being dirty/ to clean. This sign is misleading. Please fix.

I had a trailer hitch installed and was at the location for 3 plus hours and the electrical part could not be installed. I then returned as I had an appointment that was made through the toll free number. When I arrived the General Manager was on Paid Time Off and there was not replacement to handle the request. I was then advised I would need to go to another location. Needless to say had 2 days prior to leaving town for a job transfer and had arrived at 7am. I should have received a discount as the trailer and the hitch were well over 800.00 however I was not offered anything for this inconvenience. I was extremely disatisified.
