I have used other UHaul business in the past but this one is not as professional as previous experiences. From reserving a truck in a location farther away from my location to taking FIVE days to complete and charge my card for this order. To top it off they REFUSED to mail me a statement receipt of my charges and I was told I have to go to them to pick it up. The statement they sent me in an email wouldn't open probably because it was a jif file and not a jpeg. I'm going to call the main U Haul office to explain their customer service is terrible.

Uhaul is a complete joke of a company. My uhaul broke down 4 hours into a 6 hour trip. Uhaul roadside assistance showed up an hour and a half later to tell me the starter was shot, and a local mechanic who happened to be on the scene told me that the starter was at least 15-20 years old. Because it was now 7pm on a Sunday, (and driving with my wife and 6 month old) they told me I have have one option, I could stay at the Scottish Inn hotel paid for by uhaul, possibly the dumpiest hotel in western NY, and I would pick up my '26 foot uhaul truck(packed to the brim) when it was repaired(no exact timetable). I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So I asked the tow truck driver a candid question about how bad uhaul is, and he smiled and said this happens all the time, but no comment. Then I asked how much it would cost to tow the truck to my final destination, only 2 hrs away. And he said uhaul would pay half of the $900 cost.(pricey because you have to pay for round trip). I called uhaul and said I'm not taking option one and that I have a 6 month old girl and I could drive to my destination as they towed the truck, and she said a hotel would b fine and that my 6 month old could sleep on the floor, as she didn't know if the Scottish inn had baby cribs to provide. I could not believe this. In the end I paid half the $900 tow and got to my destination. Not only will I never use uhaul again, but I will make it a point to tell everyone at work about how terrible the customer service is and what a complete joke this company is. And it is with great pleasure that my work involves a ton of relocations. Uhaul is pathetic. Nothing else to say. This is in the facts of my story.

It would be nice to not receive a phone call the day before your scheduled pick up stating that your reservation time that you have reserved the truck for has been cut in half, and especially when you had the truck booked for three weeks in advance.

The location was short-staffed and so we waited quite a while to pick up our truck. The woman working told us she was new, and needed to call co-workers to answer questions we had. I don't fault the new staff member for that, but it would have been much more efficient to have someone else on hand while she is still learning. Also, I separately ordered and paid for a TV box online. When I arrived at the store, my TV box had not been set aside. There was one in stock, so I was able to take that one, but would have been very unhappy had someone else bought the last one before I got there, given that I had already paid for it and was under the impression that it would be reserved for me at that point.

I had reserved a 14' truck for 4:15 at the Tonawanda location on Kenmore street in Buffalo Ny. I arrived at 4 pm to get my truck. The woman behind the counter told me I was early and "my" truck was not back yet. I said I have a 415 reservation and the woman told me again I was early and that there was another truck in the lot but she didn't want to give it to me because it had to go out first thing in the morning and she would rather have me wait for the truck that was late. I waited about 15 mins when I man finally asked if I was being helped. I explained that I was apparently waiting for a late truck to arrive. The man looked out in the parking lot and shouted to the woman there are two 14' trucks in the parking lot and a 17' so put me in one of them. I received an unapologetic apology from the lady behind the counter for the 20 min unnecessary wait for a truck that was sitting there the whole time. Every other uhaul experience I have been walked out with an employee to check the truck for damage and check the fuel gage then sign off. Instead the lady handed me a key with letters and numbers on it. She then pointed to the side of the building and said your truck will be over there. The truck was in the middle of a small fleet I had to take out myself which is no big deal, just never had to do it myself before. After pulling out of the parking lot I noticed that the fuel gage was under the half way mark even though the lady ran her highlighter across a piece of paper with a fuel gage on it to demonstrate that's how much fuel I have. The paper was wrong. I pulled to the side of the road immediately and thought about turning around to show them but didn't have the time so I took a time stamped picture for proof instead. I had a feeling I would need it. I estimated a 50 mile trip and that came to about $76 for a rental from 415pm to 1015pm and if it was back sooner or had less miles it would be adjusted. The trip took 33 miles from pick up to drop off. I put $20/5 gallons in the gas tank to cover the 33 miles. I have kept the receipt for proof. I returned the truck at 730pm with more gas then was given to me. When I received my bill the next day I was suprised to see that it went from $76 something to a perfectly rounded $79.95. I was also curious why the cost went up when it was back 2 and a half hours early with 33 miles instead of 50. Also back by 730pm instead of 1015pm.When looking at the bill I noticed they felt the need to put in a charge of $16.50 for "gas". That would be $36.50 all together for a 33 mile trip. What????? I called the customer service number immediately to fight the charge. The lady took my info and said the manager of the location will call me. I never received a call. I will be calling back directly after this. This is the first time I have ever took the time to write a negative review in my 30 years for anything. It's a shame because the other handful of times I have needed to use uhaul the service has been great. I wil

The initial gas level on pick up was wrong. When I returned the truck they said the gas was off. I told them the gas was at level of pick up. They yelled at me. Then called me and told me inaccurate amount to fill truck. Said it was 10 gallons under@ $5.50 a gallon so it would cost 77$. I said the math was wrong. They then added a bunch more charges and now I owe uhaul 145$ for 7 gallons of gas. I'm not paying that. I have used uhaul approx. 20 times in my life but this will be the last. I refuse to pay over 20$ a gallon for gas. People at drop off very rude as well! Bad experience overall.

Disappointed that on-line reservation guaranteed location and time availability, with promise of $50 off if unavailable. They didn't even call to say unavailable for initial request site, and denied my request when I called for the promised $50 stating "that's only for round trip rentals." I went back on the site, and that wasn't stated ANYWHERE!

I had reservation for a 26' truck and they never called me and told me it broke down making it unavailable. I showed up to pick up the truck and to my surprise it was unavailable! They gave me a 20' truck for less than 24 hrs. Totally disappointed in the service provider. Please call me if you have questions or want details.

I originally booked my truck for pickup at one location. This was changed at the last minute to a location that was farther away. When I got there it took 30-45 minutes to process the paperwork only to find out my truck wasn't even there ! The rep offered a smaller truck and I had to tell him twice that if I wanted a smaller truck I would have ordered it in the first place. I was then sent to a location on the other side of town to get a truck. The last location provided a bigger truck. and a price concession which was nice. However, it did not make up for the lost time. I wish it would have been done right the first time.

I've never been so disappointed in my retail and I've used uhaul multiple times. The truck was I terrible shape and the alignment was so off I felt like I was turning to go straight. When I picked up the truck, I had to pull the truck out of the parked area myself after looking for it for a while and when I got the the truck it was tricky to pull out and had a giant card board piece still in the window I had to pull out. My experience was terrible and will probably never rent again because of this.

Someone should call me. The truck was stalling, broke down, lost power, the reverse lights were always on. I required roadside assistance. Overall I was displeased with the handling of my situation, though the stuff was courteous. 716-864-0618. Russ

I showed up at 6:57, three minutes before closing. The young woman could have told me we didn't have time for a rental, but instead she was very helpful and stayed beyond 7 to help us. Great service.
