I had reserved a truck for Oxford, MS over a month before when I needed it and was called the week before and had to change location to Tupelo, MS. Then I got an email saying my truck would be ready at 12:30. I go to pick it up and they said my truck wouldn't be there until 4:30. That is a 1 hour drive ONE WAY. So basically it screwed me up for 2 hours. ALSO, the lady who changed my reservation location said they would take 100 miles off my bill because of the location change, but when I showed up to pick up the truck, they wouldn't do it and said it was never authorized. I was very disappointed with U-Haul and will look at different options next time. Also, my experience was repeated by every single person I talked to for this weekend at several different locations. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!!!!!

I originally reserved a 6x12 trailer. We were sent to a city 30 miles away to pick it up. They didn't even have it!! Returned to Tupelo where there was only a 5x8 available. Why do you tell people there is a specific trailer available when it is not? Barely received an apology for all the inconvenience and certainly didn't receive any credit after being sent completely out of our way. It was awful and ridiculous. You take advantage of people who are going through the difficult situation of moving instead of helping. I wish I could find another moving company to use because we can't depend on U-Haul.

The trailer was not ready when promised. We had to wait for over an hour for the trailer. Granted, it was the fault of the previous renter, but we want to be compensated. We were on a very tight timeline.

Have SAFE AND REPAIRED trailers to rent! Make sure that your staff checks out the equipment BEFORE renting it to make sure that it works correctly. We were not able to completely get moved in our time limit because of YOUR FAULTY EQUIPMENT!!!!! Not happy with this experience at all.

You need more than 1 worker at 8AM on Saturday mornings. You also need to ensure that the worker(s) can perform their job duties and by that I mean they need to have the authorization to do the necessary changes or decision making concerning the Uhaul contract. I stood in line for 40 minutes waiting for the sales person to get someone on the phone to authorize the changes the customer services person made to my reservation the Friday before Saturday when I was picking up my truck. The worker there at the store was doing all she could do. I don’t have a problem with her, but the situation could’ve been resolved a lot quicker if you had a worker there that was given the authorization to make those type of updates. I called the general managers cell number (his business card was on the desk I was waiting beside). When he answered and I explained the issue, he quickly told me he was on vacation. I explained to him that when you are a manager or a general manager of a business, your work sometimes continues when you are not in the location of the business, even on vacations. He didn’t seem to agree with that. I probably won’t use Uhaul again but I hope to not have a need to.

Reserved a truck several week ago at the New Albany, MS location. Truck was there on day of pickup but the computer said the truck was in another state. Could not rent the truck and could not find another truck that day/weekend. Reserved a truck through the Tupelo, MS location for this past Saturday (7/18/2015). While in route to pick up the truck I received a phone call that the truck was not at the location. I was upgraded to another truck that was onsite. Upon arrival I found the truck was there...but had been rented to another customer. I was unable to find another truck that day/weekend. I am under a deadline to remove furniture from an apartment by the end of the week or risk penalty and possible loss of furniture. This will be the third time attempting to pick up a truck. I need some assurance that a truck will be available. A cargo van is not an option as that would require a minimum of 2 trips. I am looking at approximately 100 miles total on the truck.

This location always takes great care of us. They are always friendly and help as much as possible.This truck however, was not in good condition. The inside was filthy. There was a layer of grit on the dashboard and cup holder area that was so thick you could write in it. Not dust. Grit. Almost like sawdust. The engine light was on from the moment we picked it up and the office staff told us that it had been that way for awhile. We were using the truck to take a 3 hour trip and were under a heat advisory. We were very anxious about making it safely. The transmission was not downshifting properly. The headlights did not work. We had to use bright lights . On a positive note, this truck had a quality padlock on the back that we were able to use. That was nice. We usually have to bring our own.

Vehicle had defective fuel guage. Ran out of fuel 4 miles from U-Haul location (guage showinf 1/4 tank) forcing customer to hike 1.5 miles in 96 degree heat and to purchase a $16 gas can, fuel, then hike back 1.5 miles to vehicle. Headlights pointed to the right so that you could not see the rod directly in front of the vehicle. Upon returning the vehicle, customer was double charged for dolly and pads but was not given a receipt on site. After getting receipt via email the duplication was found and U-Haul was called. U-Haul denied any knowledge of the rental even when provided the contract number. Customer had to drive back to U-Haul to prove the overcharge from digital receipt. While checking the vehicle in with U-Haul, customer was called by U-haul and told to bring the vehicle back because they needed to rent it out. The vehicle was being turned in 2 hours before the customer contracted rental time. Terrible location, equipment, service.

the truck "check engine" light was on when I picked up the unit. I was told by the person who booked the unit, that if i rented the 26' truck as apposed to the 24' truck I would get a newer and more gas efficient truck. This was not a newer truck. The transmission seemed like it was having trouble going to the next higher gear and would jerk when shifting up. Luckily I was driving locally and didn't drive far in it. The truck was clean and the desk clerk and his staff were very nice. The rates beat anybody else in town on the daily charge and didn't require an additional deposit to rent.
