The Vallejo location was clean and organized - and very efficient. I was very impressed with the pace of checking-in and checking-out for the customer's sake. It is a textbook operation. The Richmond location however is a totally different story (1017 23rd Street). It is very unorganized and outwardly dirty. Additionally, my reservation (95694518) was confirmed by the 800#, and then 30 minutes later, I was called by another representative that explained that the 26' truck that I had reserved was "not available". Furthermore, he was very dismissive about my concern, and as I was confirmed that the Cotati location had the truck available, then was told that he was the only confirmation that mattered. When I expressed my frustration about the scheduling of four different company crews and the imperative need that we had about having the truck available for success, he was outwardly lackadaisical about my insistence that we have the truck at all. I then told him that cancelling my reservation was best, and that I would find a vehicle elsewhere. I then called the U-Haul location in Richmond directly and spoke to Joy, and she confirmed that she would restore – or reverse the cancellation, and then assign the 26’ that she had in her yard to me, and that 7AM would not be an issue for me to retrieve the truck. Upon arrival in Richmond on Friday, I was told by the gent there, that the truck was not available and that we would have to go somewhere else for our rental needs. I then spent an additional 45 minutes hunting down the another location that had the t26’ truck (Vallejo) with the help of the 800#, and was able to successfully complete the tasking – and hour later than originally planned. As a result of this snafu, I am very determined to seek my rental needs elsewhere going foreward, from Penske, Budget, or others, because I do not feel that there is a qualitative connection between the 800# and the local ownership of the various U-Haul franchisees, and this whole episode cost to all of the companies involved and our frustration for having to travel outside of our service area added grief and unneeded expense for driving out of our way – and having to pay the additional mileage ourselves (On a Friday) when this whole matter could have been averted by proper systems and communication with the various representatives of the U-Haul company. Overall I would rate the experience a 3 out of 10.

they've always do a great job here- and this is a city known for poor customer service. I just wish the vans came with less writing.. for event work,,, I have clients asking for cleaner looking less logo uhaul signage.

The staff was great for both days, pick-up and return. On the return, there was only one person and he could have used some help. He was doing his best moving the line along, but it does take time to rent. The line of people waiting got long.

Customer service was really good in the morning at pick up Everyone was friendly and fast and on top of it. Drop off was another story, the guy who checked our van was very was rude and not friendly. Inside, there was a line 10 people deep and one guy working. It took about 20 minutes just to get to the register. Luckily you guys are really the only option in vallejo so we really had no choice when we chose you. Your morning crew was very nice though.

My only complaint would be the smell of cigarette smoke inside the cab of the pick up truck I rented. It would be nice if all of your rentals posted no smoking signs inside. My experience was very quick...in fact, there were only 2 people working behind the counter and they REALLY moved people out fast. Great experience!

People displayed a "take it or leave it" sort of attitude. The worst thing was that after making an online reservation for a 17' truck on 6/15/15, the day before my wife and I were to fly out I received notification that there were no 17' trucks within 60 miles of this location and we had to settle for a 15' truck. We were able to make the 15 footer work, but just barely. A quick count on the calendar shows that 67 days AFTER the reservation, this location was unable to deliver on the request. They also had not larger trucks that could have been used as a substitute. This is unacceptable and poor customer service. I will most likely use Budget for my next move. Their trucks have cruise control and are much more comfortable for long moves.

List the vertical clearance on the entrance to the canopy. Presently none exists, my motor home got stuck damaging the front roof air conditioner and attached Solar panel. I was stuck there under the canopy for over 4 hours, the mechanics cost to remove and replace both air conditioners was $700. I would not have entered the canopy had the vertical clearance been painted/written on the front of the canopy. My clearance requirement is 12' 10", I estimate the canopy clearance to be around 12' 6". Law suit to follow.

The mileage and fuel level were incorrect on my contract. These should be double checked before the trucks are rented. This presented a little bit of trouble for me on the other end (turning it in). Thankfully it all worked out but was a bit of a hassle that could've been avoided.

You can fire or retrain all of the employees on proper customer service! As well as make sure your trucks are safe to drive! The right mirror on my truck was loose and would not stay in one place, so I had no right mirror my entire rental making it extremely unsafe to drive when you rely solely on your mirrors in trucks like that. And when I told your employees they just shrugged and said "yea that happens". Wow, so nice that your employees could care less if you get a lawsuit on your hands from negligence. Also to top it all off I was given the wrong size truck. I've rented many uhauls from this spot specifically and I know the sizes but the employees would just tell me I'm measuring wrong or that too bad that is all we have, thanks for letting me know beforehand that's all you had, I would have gotten the right size somewhere else! And now I surely will. I will never recommend uhaul too anyone again nor will I ever use uhaul myself. And for being a pretty avid user of moving trucks it is definitely your loss.

Yard personnel was messy looking and did not greet incoming guests. The yard help also ignored the customers thst he is supposed to be checking in. He made multiple customers wait and for these reasons alone would prefer to go across a bridge to use a rental company again
