The truck was leaking in the driver's cab, I got all wet. It took a long time to get my truck and get it checked in. However, the gentleman that was at the counter when I got the truck and when I returned it was extremely professional and handled things very well.

Would be better to actually explain what you mean by "free upgrade" when booking. We booked a 20 foot truck and ended up with a 26 foot truck. This was by no means an upgrade. In fact, it cost us an extra $40 on the ferry. Not at all happy with uhaul. Will probably choose a different moving company in the future.

I rented a trailer for August 31st - huge moving day for university students. Large volume of customers seemed to have the staff a bit overwhelmed, with slow communication between desk and yard staff. They were doing their best and kept things moving, but more staff on such a busy day would have helped the customer experience.

When dropping off the U-Haul, I was asked to clean the inside of the cargo area even though I had not used it except the very front for a few personal bags. (I had used the U-Haul exclusively to tow my car back to Victoria, I had not been moving anything). When I explained that I had received the U-Haul in that condition and that the mess was not mine, they simply repeated that I needed to clean it or pay them to. (I was not terribly impressed with this, obviously, but I cleaned it nonetheless). I arrived around an hour and a half late because the 7:00am ferry I had meant to catch was full to commercial traffic. (It was still taking regular cars, but apparently U-Hauls are put into the same area as semi trucks, etc.) Realizing that I would be late, I had tried several times to call the U-Haul centre to let them know that I would be running late, instead catching the 8am ferry, but nobody picked up the phone in my several attempts to call. When I arrived, I was charged a full day late fee even though my truck was booked to be given out to someone else later in the day. When I asked why I was being charged for a full day extra when the van was going to be rented out again that same day, they explained that it was because they had to pay the people they were forced to rent out a larger vehicle to because they would have to themselves pay higher ferry fees (they had to take a 26 foot instead of 20). While I felt that was fairly reasonable, on reflection, I realized that I myself had been put in the same situation and was not offered anything for the extra cost that I incurred, which was approximately $31.75 @ $6.35 per foot. I did not find that the staff at this location were particularly emphatic to my concerns, there was very much a "not my problem" and "too bad, we don't really care" attitude about my situation.

I had ordered a 20 foot truck which wasn't available. They gave me the bigger size which I didn't want. A bigger discount for those mistakes should be offered because it isn't fair to mess up the customers day like that. I also found many people over the phone to be rather rude before pick up. My truck had also not been swept out before I used it.

When the customer comes into a Uhaul centre and is renting a trailer for the first time someone needs to be allocated to instructing the customer as to the safety steps of securing the trailer and the vehicle to be towed and so on.

Make sure that customers know there is no parking on site... It wasted 20 min of our time looking forward parking in area. This should be discussed upon reservation. Also, it is strange not to include the decimal in milage calculation. For example, we were at 4076.9 on the truck when we got in. It literally took one spin of the wheel to clock to 4077 - I did ask that they readjust the milage so I was not charged an extra kilometer. However, this should be factor in not to waste time/energy.

The girls at the desk were very quick and helpful, the guys did a quick vehicle inspection and I was away. Returning the vehicle was just as fast and easy. Great service, great employees, I would recommend this location.

Our uhaul had an annoying buzzer for the park brake that wouldn't go away. We called uhaul roadside and exhausted all trouble shooting methods to no avail. Time quoted for mechanic to come fix it was unacceptable based on our schedule. Furthermore we were given mis information on whether the vehicle was a commercial vehicle or not and thus were charged more for the ferry.

First, I booked at the Sidney location, took the first flight from Calgary to get to this location when it opened. When I girt there, they told me the truck was actually booked for Topaz Avenue, and to go there, under my own cost, where the truck would be waiting. I had confirmation it was booked for McDonald Park Road. Regardless, when I get to Topaz, they tell me they do not have a truck for me. A manager comes along, who is the most patronizing and derogatory person I have met in a long time. I have been in customer service roles myself for over 20 years, and I told a client "I don't care if you have a reservation number", "Don't tell me your sob story" and then "Shut up and let me do my job" - I would be fired on the spot. This man is a massive negative to Uhaul and I highly recommend using a different rental company.

The terms of my contract ended up being different than what I was told on the phone when I booked it. I was told I would have the truck for 12 hrs but ended up only having it for 10. Thankfully, it wasn't an issue.

Property was too small for the amount of business. We only saw one staff member and he was greatly overworked and behind. There was a lot of confusion over what people were supposed to do, and where we were supposed to go.
