Charging me $44 for 8 gallons ($5.5 per gallon!!) is excessive punishment enough. Charging a $30 fill-up fee on top of the already overkill $5.5 per gallon is just plain disgusting practice. I don't care if it's in the fine print, that is poor business practice, and I will find another company next time.
You need to make it possible to return vans after hours. It was a real pain to have to come back the next day.

I was 30 minutes early for my reservation, no truck was there due to a client not returning their truck. So the owner George, went to another location and got me my truck on time and was very professional in this situation which could have been a disaster. I will only use this location in the future
I showed up exactly at the time I said I could arrive to pick up the truck and there was no UHaul representative present. He had "just left". He finally returned 25 min. later, resulting in my losing the helpers I'd lined up to load up my van for me. I was also told I could not leave my car at the UHaul location - I would have to "park on the street". There was no available street parking so I had to drive down the street, around a corner, and down THAT block to find a parking space. While I was waiting for the UHaul rep to return, another patron arrived who had reserved a larger truck. There was no larger truck on the premises. I don't know how long he had to wait to get the rig he had reserved. This location was inconvenient and ill-equipped to serve customers despite.
No improvements needed, great place.
Nothing wrong. Just adequate. My biggest gripe is with UHaul and the online reservation. I chose the convenient location with the right truck. The online system bumped me to a different location for no reason at all. I had to call the regional office to get it moved back. Totally annoying.
It's really a great experience. Things went smoothly. Very convenient!
There are a couple of things UHaul as a whole can do. 1. The mileage charge is utterly ridiculous. I rented a truck that was $19.99, however the mileage was roughly $36. Pure greed. When a customer returns a vehicle with more gas than was required there should be a credit of at least 1 gallon of gas. Lastly, when I called to reserve the truck the customer service rep told me that he couldn't tell if a truck was a available - until I gave him my credit card information.
The authorized dealer was great. However, your policy stinks and reeks of the usual corporate greed.
I have used U-Haul many times over the years. The office at this location is not up to U-Haul's standards. It was adjacent to a car service bay - it was dirty and not a pleasant experience. I did not receive a receipt at the office and the proprietor stated that my invoice would be emailed. Ironically, a cleaning fee was added to the invoice though the van was clean when returned. I am not a happy customer!!!
I had the Van for 5 days, with a total of 459 miles. When I called to extend the days, I asked about the mileage, and I was told it would automatically kick in to a .29 cent per mile rate after 200 miles. This was factored in to my decision process on whether or not to keep it, or to bring it back. Because I was told this I kept it for more days.
I was later charged for one week (not 5 days), and, although I was not charged for mileage, I did not agree to this. I agreed to pay for 5 days plus basic coverage insurance, and 0.29 cent per mile for 459 miles. This would be less than what you charged me.
I would like a refund of the amount over what I should have been charged.
I had scheduled my truck the nearby storage place on National. The truck had a problem and they scrambled and found the truck at the Overland yard. The folks at both places were friendly and helpful.

Reduce wait time. Better explain return deadline. And most of all, make it clear that they have no place for customers to park their personal vehicles while using vans.
The person handling the rentals was rude and unhelpful and I would not use this location again.
After the reviews I was a little concerned but I ended up having a pretty good experience. The truck was available when I asked for it which I have heard is not always true. I was disappointed that I called 24 hours to confirm beforehand for the blankets / furniture pads and the outlet only had 9 of the 24 I ordered. If someone had let me know that ahead of time, I would have had time to find a supplementary option. Instead, I had to take a lot of risks in scratching my furniture. NOT COOL.
Also, it wasn't very well explained when I was checking the truck for damages to avoid being charged later that the existing damages were marked by special stickers. I personally think the whole scratches thing is hogwash. We're driving something the size of a tank without the durability and it's not going to get scratched? Also, it would be nice if the Truck was washed every once in awhile.
Anyway, the guys were friendly enough and didn't charge me immediately when I accidentally forgot one of the blankets and gave me time to return it. The gas meter markings were accurate so there was no danger of getting ripped off on gas tank markings like I read in other reviews.
So, yeah definitely above average for the rental truck business.
The manager George is rude & has zero customer service....he overcharged me....then yelled at me when I called back to inquire ab the extra charges?! A joke of a Uhaul location
Take the uhaul location from this place and from the nasty man who runs it. I would never rent from him or his location ever. The truck was not very clean, it had garbage inside and the thing that got me the most is how he outright lied about the fuel level. He listed it at 5/8th of a tank according to the chart on the papers. When I looked at it before leaving, it was almost on the 1/2 tank mark. However, the fuel gauges in these trucks only use marks for empty, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full. It is very difficult to determine anything between those marks. So when I drove away and looked at it again, in was almost on the 1/2 mark. I also noticed the miles he wrote on the paper was 2/10ths less than the truck's odometer. Well, after dealing with many uhaul places and NEVER having an issue, I didn't call him on it. Then when I finished my small load (2 medium boxes and a dresser), I put 3.5 gallons of fuel back into the truck and I know I only used about 3 gallons. So, the fuel level was at or just a hair above where it was when I got the truck. While returning the truck, this guy tried to say I was returning the truck with less fuel. When I explained the situation, he blamed me for not calling him about the wrong level and he said that he was not going to pay for the fuel. Everything went to heck after that. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION!
Thankfully, I asked him for the customer service number while there and I called them in front of him. Once he closed out the ticket and charged me an additional $8.25 for fuel, the very nice lady from uhaul customer service took care of it and reversed the charge.
Lovely and Friendly, great customer service.
They were very nice and overall it wouldn't have been too bad but the fact you can't leave your car there is a hassle and though the van was new, it hadn't been washed and also smelled like rubber. One doesn't necessarily NEED a clean van, but you asked.
