I made my reservations online on March 7th to pick up a 6X12 trailer on the 19th for 3 days of rental. The trailer was to be picked up and dropped off at the nearest location to my home. I received an email confirmation from the “Traffic Control Manager” to this effect. Later I received a text message from the “Traffic Control Manager” that if my designated location for pick up could not be used I would be directed to a location that had the equipment I selected and I would receive a $50.00 credit for my inconvenience.
On the 18th, the day before the scheduled pick up, I received a phone call stating that the equipment would have to be picked up at another location, 55 miles away… 55 miles one way.
When I picked up the trailer at the new pick up spot, the young gentleman that hooked up the trailer did not fully tighten the coupler and left the safety chains loose enough to drag the ground. Another employee, (young lady), came to check the equipment as the gentleman walked away. She found the coupler and chains loose and secured them properly.
When I asked at the counter about the $50.00 credit, I was given excuses and a hard luck sob story that “everyone was moving out of the area and taking all of our equipment with them”. I did not receive a $50.00 credit but actually a $33.85 reduction and another sob story about not having enough equipment in the area. Needing to get back on the road to fulfill my obligations with the trailer, I did not have the time to argue. As I proceeded to leave, the mature lady behind the counter advised me that I may be contacted on the last day of the rental and instructed to bring the trailer back there or take it to another location other than the original drop off spot for the next renter………….REALLY! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!!!
On the last day of the rental, I took the trailer to the originally planned drop off spot. I backed the trailer into an open spot by some other smaller trailers. I noticed a stack of cinder blocks and proceeded to get two, one to chock the wheels and one to put under the tongue. (Trailer did not have a tongue jack or wheel chocks and a bungee strap securing the door lock to keep the door closed). Using the trailer over the previous days I noticed that once on the ball, the coupler was very difficult to remove from the ball. Even after applying grease to the ball and ensuring the coupler mechanism was fully disengaged, the trailer was difficult to remove. Since there is no jack and only a handle on one side of the trailer tongue for lifting, I decided to straddle the tongue as not to put an unequal load on my back. After 2-3 attempts to remove the trailer from the ball, it finally popped off only to come to rest on the cinder block, crushing the ring finger on my right hand.
Needless to say but, I will have to be in one serious pinch to ever consider using U-Haul again……….. No pun intended.
Dropped Uhaul truck off on a Saturday evening. It was closed but did provide a drop off box for after hours.
Include dolly's in each truck. Also the paper invoice I received did not match what was sent to the bank. Under charging me at the bank.....for the time being. other than that it was a day full of friends and getting r done!
Moved from ohio to Florida and a/c did not work it was a very hot and uncomfortable ride for the last 10 hrs of the trip.?
We've used this dealer in the past and plan to continue. They are great.
There was broken tile and paper in trailer. They did not do trailer inspection. Just handed me the form to sign.
These are the best people. We have a need for a second truck in a couple of weeks and we are going back to them. It is because of people like those at River City Repair UHaul is a good company to work with.
When we dropped the truck off they were very kind and explained the issues that some people have of not realizing that the mom's attic space is included in the 17 feet and that what we needed to do was actually get a truck that was bigger than we thought necessary to accommodate for the lack of space.
The people at this location were very helpfull and did there best to get me what I needed and at the best rates.
